i want to write a story set in a debate club team, but i've never been in a debate club (or seen a club debate), like, are there rules ;-;?

child who's been taught that those who are different are evil and do bad things; stubborn and stoic; after someone oppressed tries to have them see in a different light: "You don't move me, I see through you, I don't follow, I don't want to."

that same child who figured out that they're different too, facing their oppressors who taught them to hate at such a young age: "You don't move me, I see through you, I don't follow, I don't want to."

(bonus points if that same person heres those words from a kid after telling them that different people aren't evil. realising that even if they change, they have to fight harder for the world to do so.)
