No nausea, this time.

No pain. No restraints. No Kira.

Just phlegm in his lungs, thick and wet as the mud seeping into his jeans.

A rasping laugh escapes Scott’s chest.

Of course that’s all there is. The only thing that betrays him more often than other people is his own body.

I’ve been watching Teen wolf with a friend and they recommended this fic to me (“codominance” by momentofmemory on AO3, https://archiveofourown.org/works/36162442),

I loved it, it’s so beautiful and sweet AND it finally got me over my art block. I made this mini comic of my favorite part (it’s hard to choose a favorite tho, I love it so much 😭)

i was rewatching fox and wolf the other day and, in the scene where Scott looks at Kira with such faith when she’s worried about putting the sword back together, was struck by how much of kira’s character arc is centers around some kind of belief—whether it’s belief in herself and what her powers can do, her belief in Scott’s nature (not a monster!), or belief others have in her (not a demon!).

and i feel like it’s also really cool that we see theme symbolized via her tail? like, in s4, when Kira weaps that she doesn’t know how to heal, noshiko simply tells her “then learn.” there’s no time for a practice run, and she takes cues from how werewolves do it, but ultimately, kira learns how to heal by believing in her own power as a kitsune—and not only is this rewarded by, um, not dying, but also in her getting her first tail.

which is also so fun to me because it’s this tail she’s ultimately going to give to Scott—who believed in her first, but both really strugged to believe in Kira 5a—but then she comes back in 5b and he’s like no you can!! and she does! but she’s not done yet, so she gives the tail to him and it’s her belief in his belief, that he believes she can do it and she believes she can come back to, and i just think that’s Neat<3333

We're Still in Love with Scott McCall — Appreciation Week 2025 is Coming!

Get ready for this year’s Scott McCall Appreciation Week, running June 22-28, 2025! Gen works, all Scott ships, and all types of content (fics, edits, art, playlists, gifs, etc.) are welcome. All fics must be Scott-centric and Scott-positive. Scott does not need to be the POV character, but the primary focus of the fic should be Scott’s emotions/interests/needs/etc.

WRITING PROMPTS:

Day One - Only If You Don't Learn: - Throughout the show, we see Scott defy uninformed traditions and prejudices time and again, whether it's through turning his enemies into friends, becoming a true Alpha, or refusing to give up on seemingly lost causes.

Day Two - I Think It's My Fault: Scott internalizes guilt so severely he keeps his wounds from healing and nearly dies from it—but when does that start? How does it affect him? What do his friends do in response?

Day Three - That Looks Kind of Important: Scott's only human, and today, that means play! What does Scott do to unwind? Practice lacrosse with Liam or run with Hayden? Play pranks on Stiles or Kira? Mess around on the guitar? Discuss!

Day Four - I Had A Plan, Too: As Peter Hale said in s1, not all teenagers are as smart as Scott! Scott's planning and alliance-making saves the day in multiple seasons, in big moments or quiet realizations. Use today to explore the way Scott thinks!

Day Five - I Made First Line: Let's talk ambition! What do Scott's hopes and dreams look like, whether it's in academia, relationships, lacrosse, or career? How did he react to getting into UC Davis? What did it take to move out of Beacon Hills? How did he defeat Monroe?

The Messenger of Death: Kira & Bardo

“I think I actually might know what you’re talking about. There’s a Tibetan word for it—it’s called ‘Bardo.’”

I feel like we don’t give Kira’s opening dialogue enough credit for introducing her as an authority on Bardo—she’s the one who introduces the concept, defines it, and knows enough about it to confidently butt into a conversation based on a handful of keywords. This links Kira with Bardo from the get-go, but why was Bardo something Kira had spent time researching so thoroughly? Could it be, perhaps, because her nascent foxspirit had a vested interest in her learning more about it?

“It literally means ‘in-between state.’ The state between life and death.”

In season four, Kira shocks Scott’s heart using her powers to put Scott in a state where he’s not quite dead, but he’s not quite alive, either—the exact same definition Kira uses for Bardo. Scott then experiences a repetitive dreamlike state very similar to the Bardo sequences we see in 3b, and is only brought out of it by another shock from Kira’s powers. While this is the first time we’ve seen Kira put someone into a state of Bardo, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen a fox do it—the Nogitsune is able to plunge them into Bardo at the end of 3b (and in the movie!), proving that it’s something a fox spirit can do.

“And what do they call you?”

In season five, we get a name for Kira’s fox spirit: “The Messenger of Death.” What better name for a creature who can literally send people in and out of Bardo, which is exactly what her powers will again be used for at the end of the season? Theo's dreamscape shares the same repetitive nature and body-locker aesthetic as Scott's did in s4, which is again controlled by Kira's powers (channeled through her sword).

While the show doesn’t mention Bardo by name outside of 3b, Kira’s power set is used very consistently to evoke a Bardo-like state, & I think it absolutely deserves more exploration in fic and fandom!

i bet scott and stiles, as california natives who don’t have the $$ to go skiing like someone like lydia would, probably never experienced snow.

bb!sciles had lots of ideas about it. their pillowfort skills were definitely going to result in the most epic igloo of all time. the snow cover might make scott’s asthma less bad. scott was very invested in the hypothetical art of snowman making and stiles was equally invested in peeing a moat around it so it matched their sandcastles.

probably they make a pact when they get their licenses to go somewhere with snow, whenever stiles manages to convince his dad to let them go on a Grand Summer Road Trip.

and instead, their first experience with snow is the nogitsune’s conjured bardo, where they’re too busy trying not to die in a swordfight to enjoy a snowball fight.
