As much as I’ll love to write another “my thoughts” post, my computer charger broke and I can’t really buy me a new one right now. So here is this:

Surfin' USA (My thoughts)
Tumblr media
Don't crucify me when I say this, but I just don't like the album's instrumental songs. And yes, I could just ignore those 5 songs, but if I had this album on a CD or vinyl, I don't want to get up and skip songs over and over. Is this too mean?
Anywho, the vocals are so amazing like they remind me of a boyish glee club or a barbershop quartet. Tho this album is just a sorta repetitive of their first album. Which is fine both, the Beatles and Elvis Presley sophomore albums sounds like their debut albums.
With the exception of "Farmer's daughter", "Lonely Sea", "Shut Down", or "Lana" and that is because they really don't sing about surfing or has a somewhat newer instrumental.
Also I don't understand what's the difference of mono and stereo. I did notice that the beach boys are really the only ones that had their albums label with mono and stereo, maybe it was just a different time.
Top 5 songs
Lana - Whomever is singing Lana has the highest and smoothest vocals every.
Surfin' USA - This got to be one of the basic surfing songs and I love it
Lonely Sea - Imagine dance to this song at prom. It's a nice slow dance song
Finders Keepers - The Beatles wish they had their vocals.
Farmer's daughter - "I fell in love with the farmer's daughter/You are the best thing that's ever been mine" secret mash-up song right there.
(Why am I now just realizing that they are related to each other)

Let's not talk about the fact that I've listened to this song about 7 times and never realized he said that word
To be honest, the first seven times I've listened to this song, it was through a cd player and I was reading a book. So....do people just sing along to it or ignore it.
I feel like this situation is not the same as that one John Lennon song (I'm never going to listen to that song btw).

With the Beatles - My thoughts
Tumblr media
(Imagine I'm zesty Shawn Mendes) Wow….Hey people
It's been awhile since I ramble about another album, or at least I think it's been a while, I'm not good with time. Anyway, I've been beginning to listen to the individual work of the Beatles, and let me tell you, someone put narcotics into "Jealous Guy" and "Temporary Secretary". These songs are so good, like John Lennon and Paul McCartney are even better songwriters than the Beatles (Goodbye France, Hello Paris. I hope someone understands the joke).
This album is so much better than the debut album. I'm not saying that the debut was not a hit, but this album has more songs that are catchy and fun. I could listen to this album thoroughly, and I don't know…do a hand jive.
Sadly tho I still can't seem to tell who's singing….for all I care, it's either Paul or John. Is that bad to say? Prolly not, you would have done the same thing. But to me, I'm pretty sure that almost half of the songs were sung by John Lennon. And the other half was Paul….because it has too. To me, John and Paul were the co-leaders of the Beatles.
Does anyone know why the vocals from this album and the debut both sound like they are singing through a walkie-talkie that is right next to my right ear? Like Elvis, the Beach Boys, and Bob Dylan's debut albums sound clear and they were not singing to one ear. I would blame it on the time period, but the Beach Boys and Bob Dylan's debut albums came out at the same time as the Beatles.
The instrumental and the lead vocals are a bit louder than the backing vocals. This doesn't really bother me, but as someone who has somewhat sensitive ears, it does really irritate me. Again, I'm not an instrumental person, so I'm sure they must have added some new instruments like a piano or a……
I'm sorry but this is just a duplicate of their first album but it's fine...the drugs would come and save us soon. I actually got a preview and let me tell you....tomorrow never knows.
Top 5 songs
Please Mister Postman - OMG GOD THE BEATLES DON'T WRITE THEIR OWN MUSIC. SHAME ON THEM. (I'm kidding, I know that the Beatles cover some songs, it's not really a big deal)
Money (That's What I Want) - I feel like I'm seeing a pattern here. But I do like the live version that John song in his Live Peach album.
All My Loving - Finally a original song. I don't know if this was true but I heard that the last song that was playing around Jonh's death was "All My Loving". Can you imagine laying on your deathbed and hearing you ex-music partner voice saying "Tomorrow, I'll miss you/Remember I'll always be true"
Don't Bother Me - With this being George Harrison first written song I like it has much as "Something". I like self-loathing too. So..."Eddie baby, I just saw Steve. He's crying his eyes out with Dustin"
Devil in her Heart - It kinda reminds me of the one Elvis song. After some research this song is also a cover song...at least Eddie Munson is a good singer.

(CUTIE PIE)
anyway, I’ve listened to 5 debut albums of some well-known artists and I really do enjoy exploring different music. So here are my top five favorite songs:
1. Sweet Young Thing
2. The Shift
3. Baby it’s You - this one I actually didn’t include in my top 5 “Please Please Me” and maybe because I didn’t had this album playing in the background as I made that post.
4. Trying to get to you
5. Freight Train Blue.
(can you guys tell I write my post in the midnight hour. I’m blind (not really, I have glasses) and sleep-deprived so it’s a deadly weapon to be typing)
(I would probably look into other debut albums or maybe go on with the sophomore album)

Bob Dylan (self-title album) - my thoughts
Tumblr media
I think I'm going crazy. The 4 times I listened to this album, I didn't understand it. Maybe it was too folk for me but I didn't like it. And now, as I write this blog post with this album playing in the background, I suddenly realize how good it is.
Unlike the Beatles, Beach Boys, Monkees, and Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan mostly used two instruments: a guitar and a harmonica. I think these two instruments go well and actually fit the very county/folk sound that Bob Dylan had until he switched to an electric guitar. I really don't see the problem with an electric guitar, but the essence of county/folk is the raw sound and the voice. I do actually like the harmonica solos and I'm shock most people don't like it; I thought that was one of the reasons people like him.
(can we appreciate how cute and adorable he was in this album photo and from the spotify canvas.)
People call him the "voice of the generation" and I understand it to some degree. Still, this is his debut album and of course it really doesn't show that, but I'm sure he had to grow lyrical to get that title. But I do see hints of a storyteller writing. Now re-listening to this album I just realized that (some of the songs) would have like 3-5 verse and he would sing them over and over. No chorus. I could guess the guitar/harmonica solos give the illusion that the songs are longer.
Most people would say "he can't sing", but I think he has the voice of a true folk person, with the raw county vibe. Unlike the others, he's not a performer who sings or dances. He just talks and talks and talks.
Top 5 Songs
Freight Train Blues - bluuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuue
Gospel Plow - I just like the way he says "Oh lord" but the message is also encouraging
Baby, Let Me Follow You Down - Sweet and simple song.
Fixin' to Die - Is it me or does anyone seems to hear alot of mentions of death throughout this album.
House Of The Rising Sun - This song have been pass around like your mom. But I do like his version because the story of the songs make sense for him to sing. It matches his voice.

Elvis Presley (self-title album) - My Thoughts
Tumblr media
The first time I saw him, I was struck by him. From his fake black pompadour hair to his very southern voice. He was beatlemania before beatlemania even exist, girls were dropping left and right for one look at him.
Compare to the Beatles, Beach Boys, and the Monkees first albums, this album leaned toward country jazz instead of pop/rock. Which makes sense because the mid-50s has many artists mixed blues and rhythm with county. Which was something that Elvis Presley was inspired by - he didn't invent it tho. I could probably hear some pianos, guitars, drums, and bass. But I'm not sure, I'm not a instrumental person.
His vocals were so fun to copy in this album. Because it would go from quiet to loud to whiney to deep to a high pitch. You could still tell it's in the premature phase before we get the deep southern voice he was known for. But here you could tell he was not afraid to test out different ranges, from the typical Johnny Bravo voice to the higher pitch sound. He can be able to sing in a very low range and sometimes hit a high note, like Taylor Swift (I miss her).
Compared to the McCartney-Lennon, Brian Wilson, or Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley is not a writer; He's an actor and a singer and that's fine. From the beginning of his career, Presley has been either singing cover songs or songs that others have written for him. And if Spotify was right then none of the songs in this album have not been produced or written by him. But who cares....the girlies love his raw blank appeal (I don't curse or say stuff like that), his hip movement, and his humor. Every time he opens his mouth every single girl was screaming.
I went to the danger zone today. When I started to explore the music of the Beatles/Beach Boys/Elvis Presley I promise myself to never watch a live performances or music videos. Why? IM GNAWING AT THE IRON BARS OF MY ENCLOSURE JUST TO LOOK AT THEIR FACES. So today I watch two videos of Elvis Presley on the Ed Sullivan Show. I lay on my bed moving my legs back and forth, laughing at his jokes. I was even doing that one Miley Cyrus stare. Then I was like "Hey! What are we doing?" I'm not trying to be more parasocial than I already am.
Top 5 songs
One-Sided Love Affair - Boy doesn't want to be tolerate it. I also love his vocals in here because it jumps up and down. Like it would be low then high.
Blue Suede Shoes - "One for the money, two for the show/I never was ready, so I watch you go/Sometimes you just don't know the answer/'Til someone's on their knees and asks you". ROOM REVEAL! It’s padded.
Money Honey - I might be crazy but why does the intro of the song reminds me of Jailhouse Rock. Also "uh, uh-uh".
Blue Moon - It's simple (the same 3 verses over and over) but also sadly comfortable. Also I'm pretty sure The Beatles cover this song too.
Trying to Get to you - country twang has me in a choke hold, especially during this era. Pookie bear was so cute in that cowboy outfit from the Steve Allen Show I have him as my wallpaper.
Tumblr media
Intermission - I'm thankful for all the likes that I have gotten. I'm still not use to putting myself out on social media so I'm still learning how or what to write. I remember a TikTok comment that says that "everyone could write a book, but not everyone is a literate or poet" and I'll sit there feeling a bit dim-witted. Why? Because now all I consume is TikTok brain rot and fanfiction. I used to read full Harry Potter-length books and now I could barely finish one chapter. I feel like this also affects how I write since I'm making more grammar and spelling mistakes than usual. I don't want people to see my blog post and think I can't write.

Please Please Me: My Thoughts
Tumblr media
Disclaimer: (I should have done this in the beginning, but I forgot.) I don't know much about the artists as people. So when I say "Blank is my pokie bear" or "I love Blank, they are a cutie pie" does not mean I ignored all the problematic stuff they have done. Also, I'm new to most of these artists so of course I won't know every single song, performances, or movies they have done.
Just like the Monkees and The Beach Boys' first albums, the words themselves are simple and repetitious. Nothing wrong with that since the beginning of the '60s was just bubblegum pop, the middle of the '60s was where the drugs kick in and the rock comes in. But for right now you get the soft, whining, "innocent" Beatles. Not to be rude but you listen to this whole album without hang on to any of the lyrics because it's basic. I'm not saying it's bad lyrics (McCartney-Lennon were great in the songwriting department), but pop lyrics in the 60s are just inconsequential. Anyway, they have better songs in the future.
Does anyone else cry when they see a McCartney-Lennon edit on TikTok? I do. To think that they met, wrote many songs with each other, and shared their ideas with each other to only have an awful fallout not just with each other but the idea of the band itself is just so…depressing. Again I don't know much of the "lore" so I don't know what happened or who was in the wrong. Also, the death of John Lennon was even worse for me to take in. I have a sensitive soul, when I heard that John was happy that he was turning 40 and was trying to turn his life for the better before his untimely death I…felt bad for him. I guess you can say that John Lennon is my pokie bear.
I don't know much about the instrumentals but I do know that techno instrumentals are "taking over" (I don't know if that's the right word). It's a trend that seems to start in the 80s were almost all songs have a techno beat like "I Like 'Em Big And Stupid" by Julie Brown (it's a good song by the way). Throughout the song you can't even hear a single non-electrical instrumentals. And now you have songs like "It's ok I'm ok" or "Taste" (no hate, I love these songs) that are just loud beats blaring in your ear. And maybe that is one of the reasons why I love this album because you can hear real instruments being played.
The vocals……are there. They are no Beach Boys when it comes to vocals (meaning they were not exploring their vocals) maybe they were more focus on the lyrics part. Which works for them, I've never heard anyone mention that any of the Beatles have a good vocal range. It's only the lyrics that people would focus on. Which is strange because now anyone who wants to start a music career has to have a range like Beyonce or Ariana Grande.
Top 5 songs:
Anna (Go To Him) - When I first listen to this album this song really stick to me. I don't know why; maybe because John sang it or the chorus is really catchy
Do You Want To Know A Secret - There is no way George Harrison sang this song. The whole time I thought it was John. Anyway, do-da-do.
A Taste Of Honey - They really need to put a disclaimer of who is singing because again I thought it was John. Anywho, one of the reasons I love the song is because of the weird way Paul say tasty.
Boys - .....Ringo sings this song. I like Ringo.
I Saw Her Standing There - "Well, she was just seventeen/You know what I mean". *Interest that one Dwayne Johnson meme*

Surfin' Safari: My thoughts
Tumblr media
I don't listen to much 60s music (besides from The Monkees or The Beatles), but it's like they have the same pattern to it. The beginning of the 60s, the lyrics don't matter as long it has a catchy beat and great instrumental. Which both this album and 'Please Please Me' was doing. Being that they are from California, it would make sense to have references to surfing or summer. The only thing that really pop out of the album are the vocals. Which is understandable because I didn't even focus on any of the instrumentals (I usually don't anyway). The group's blended harmony really had me bopping my head side to side and I like music that makes me bop my head side to side. And whomever was the lead singer (unlike The Monkees, both The Beatles and The Beach Boys make it hard for me to know who and who is singing) of this album had me in awe, I mean it has this boyish, high pitch, unique sound to it. I also really love the low-bass voice that comes in.
They also seems to have their own Taylor Swift. Apparently, Brian Wilson with Mike Love and Gary Usher wrote almost all the music in this album. So…a round of applause for that. After my first listen to this album I immediately hit replay. This album was so good I had to listen to it while doing my hair or cleaning. I was even annoying my mom about chug-a-lug root beer and I don't like root beer. Sadly, I don't own a CD copy of the album so I'm force to listen to it on Spotify. I thought about buying it but I got distracted by the "Please Please Me" CD album.
Top Five Songs
Chug-A-Lug - First of all, I love the low bass voice that follow after the chorus. Second I also like how each of the bands members names where mention.
The Shift - I don't know what a 'shift' is but apparently...it turns them on. Again I like the low bass voice.
Cuckoo Clock - It's funny going crazy over a little fake bird. And I wish for everyone who is reading this get c**kblock by a cuckoo clock bird.
Heads You Win, Tails I Lose - has anyone seen that one tiktok where this guy, in a bowl cut, is recreating his old 80s family video and one of the songs was 'Whip It'. And he would whip his head back and forth. This was me the entire time I listen to it. Also, I like the low bass voice.
Surfin' Safari - It's a classic surfing song nothing special. With this song I like to imagine myself surfing that fake water of Malibu beach in Barbieland
(I saw a tiktok comment where they said that the Beach Boys look 15 and 50 at the same time. They're not wrong tho.)

The Monkees (The Album): my thoughts
Tumblr media
My thoughts: I was first introduced to The Monkees from a TikTok edit of Mike Nesmith. Not going to lie I thought he was pretty cute, and after some digging, I learn about The Monkees. At first, I didn't listen to or watch The Monkees until my mom mentions that she use to watch them as a kid. As someone who loves to annoy anyone, I decide to buy two different The Monkees CDs from Barnes & Nobles to play in the car and annoyed my mom. But I soon fell in love with the music. After I decided to buy myself a small cd player from Walmart so I could play it in my bedroom. In the nicest way, the songs themselves were vacuous but life-affirming but then again most 60s and 50s songs were like this. For example "Please Please Me" or "Tutti Frutti" was just as simple and repetitious as the Monkees's theme song and people still like it ("Comparing all the girls who are killing it"). On the other hand, this show was for kids and I can guarantee you that they were not looking at the lyrics to see what they meant or who was the song about.
Top 5 Songs:
I Wanna Be Free - It a bit funny to think this song is him basically him saying that he don't want to commit to a girl
You Just May Be The One - I just love Mike country twang
Papa Gene's Blues - Again...Mike's country twang is chief kiss
Last Train to Clarksville - Do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do Do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do
Sweet Young Thing - I'm about to country line dance myself to Mike Nesmith.
