a/n: fluff, angst, I tried to make this based on the songs almost is never enough and warm by ariana grande, I came up with a random game against the Blackhawks, not proofread!!

I met Jake in freshman year of high school in English class. We started dating when he asked me out for prom in sophomore year. We were great until I introduced him to Macklin, my best friend. 

He always rolled his eyes when I brung Mack up. He hated him so much he convinced me to not invite him to my 18th birthday party. 

I never realized how controlling he was of me. Finally, I brung it up and somehow all we managed to argue about was Macklin.

I just got back from work after 7 hours of staring at a screen. My eye bags are huge, I can barely walk my limbs are so tired. All I wanna do is lay down and not have to argue with my boyfriend.

‘’You look miserable’’ Is the first thing I hear when I walk in.

‘’Jake, I’m exhausted’’ I mumble, putting my stuff up, not wanting to cause anything that would probably just be fight about Macklin somehow.

He rolls his eyes, ‘’God, you’re always exhausted’’ he replies still looking at his phone, most likely looking through some girls instagram.

I take a deep breath trying to calm myself down, but he keeps talking. I finally loose it, ‘’Jake I go to work for 7 hours and all you do is sit on your ass for the whole day! I come home exhausted cause I actually do things. I don’t wanna fight tonight. I’m exhausted’’ I yell at him, my voice slightly cracking. 

‘’Thats all you say, I do things all the time but your to busy talking to your other little boy toy!’’ He yelled back

I look at him, confused. ‘’Who the hell are you talking about?’’ 

He sighs, ‘’The shitty hockey player!’’

Macklin.

The boy I’ve known since I was 5. Who would always come to me no matter what. The only hockey player I would stand up for when they scored. The guy I always tried to convince myself I wasn’t in love with. The Macklin who I did everything with. 

‘’What do you mean?’’ I ask him, unclear on why he would bring him up right now, especially since I haven’t seen him in four weeks. The last time I saw him was at his game against the Blackhawks. All I could look at was him. He scored one goal and had two assists. 

He steps closer to me. ‘’You think I don’t know. I know you’ve been sneaking around and seeing him.’’ He says in a quiet voice. 

‘’I-what?’’ 

‘’Oh my god, you’re so stupid.’’ He laughs 

I stand there, still confused, ‘’Why would you think I’m with him?’’

‘’You’re always talking about him! Macklin this, Macklin that! You never stop. I feel like a side character!’’ 

‘’A side character! I involve you in everything, even things that don’t even concern you.’’ Shocked that he would even say that. 

‘’Even then you still find a way to bring him up! Mack loves this! Me and Mack used to do this together!’’

‘’Iv’e been best friends with him since I was five!’’ I yell back at him.

He closes his eyes, rubbing his hands on his face. 

‘’You’re the most stupidest, self centered person I’ve ever met!’’ 

‘’You always accuse me of the most stupidest shit!’’ 

He looks at me like I have 5 eyeballs.

My eyes are starting to get glossy.

‘’I’m so over you, why don’t you go cry to him about this.’’ He says as he walks out the door. 

I don’t stop him. I can’t. Tears are falling down my face. My hands are shaking. My shaky hand raises to my heart as I start gasping for air. I feel like I’m underwater. The room is caving in on me. All I’m able to do is get my phone out and call him, Macklin.

After the first ring he picks up. 

‘’Hey, y/n’’ His voice calms me down, but not enough.

‘’Mack-I can’t.’’ 

‘’Im coming over. Don’t hang up.’’

He only lives 7 minutes away. I can’t focus on anything. His voice ringing in my ears. All I’m able to make out is ‘’Calm down’’ ‘’breathe’’ ‘’Im here.’’

I hear the door open and he comes running to me. He places me on the couch and kneels on his knee in front of me. 

‘’Look at me.’’ He tells me as he places my hand over his heart. 

I look at his deep green eyes, and finally for what feels like months, Im able to calm down. 

As my breathing evens out, I close my eyes and I feel him pull me in his arms, while he’s still on floor. It feels we were sitting there for hours, when his hand gently pulls my chin to make me look at him again.

My heart rate picks up, I get a giddy feeling that I never got with Jake. 

He places his forehead on mine, still no words exchanged since the call. My hands travel up his toned arms as his stay put on my waist. 

Soon we’re both leaning in. His lips feel soft against mine, the butterflies in my stomach only getting worse. I finally pull away ‘’Mack…’’ Is all I’m able to get out.

‘’I know’’

‘’I got in a fight with Jake, we broke up.’’ I tell him. ‘’Im sorry’’ he sighs.

‘’Don’t be it was toxic anyways.’’ Trying to make humor out of this. 

‘’So, I guess it wasn’t that bad of a thing I kissed you.’’ He says laughing softly.

‘’Never.’’

Finally, in months I feel like I’m breathing and not being held captive.

While we’re still sitting on the floor I tell him ‘’This is cute, but this floor is hurting my butt’’

He laughs, pulling me to stand on my feet as we both sit on the couch. Macklin puts his hand over mine, ‘’I’ll treat you better, I promise.’’ I look at him with a smile ‘’I know you will.’’ 

He pulls me in a hug. It feels real and warm.

It’s warmer in his arms.

Puppy nibbles

a/n:fluff, I just got a new puppy and she nibbles on my brothers beard 😭, not proofread!!

I got just a got a new puppy named, Charlotte, she’s a blonde cocker spaniel with big brown eyes and long eyelashes.

Wyatt absolutely loves her.

There’s one thing that she does that he hates.

Nibbling on his facial hair.

It’s a quiet Sunday evening, the sun slowly starting to set with orange and pink hues in the sky. A random reality tv show in the background, while me, Wyatt, and Charlotte all lay on couch.

Wyatt’s arm is around my waist his other hand is on thigh rubbing up and down. Charlotte lying by our feet.

I feel her start to move and walk up to lay on Wyatt’s chest.

“Hi charli” he coos

She starts licking his face, as he’s laughing until I hear an “Ow!”

I look up at him “What happened?”

“She just bit my beard!”

I laugh his lips slowly turning into a smile.

“She would never” I say before scratching behind her ears.

“Oh, yes she would”

A few hours later, we’re all in bed charlotte lying next to me.

“I don’t know why she does that?”

“Does what?” I ask looking up at him.

“Nibble on my beard” Looking down at me, even though it’s dark I can still see his deep blue eyes.

“It’s cute” I respond.

“It is, but it…hurts”

I laugh softly “She’ll get out of the habit”

She didn’t.

Wyatt shaved his face after getting tired of growing his beard out.

He walks out of the bathroom and picks Charlotte up in his arms. “Hi, Charli” he says while laughing as she licks his face.

“I don’t have any hair for you to bite now”

I walk in “am I interrupting something?” I ask while laughing.

He looks at me with a slight blush to his cheeks. “Never”

He places her back on the ground as she runs over to me, and I scratch behind her ears “Your so cute” I coo at her. “I’m right here” wyatt says with a hand over his heart.

“You’re cute too” I tell him as he walks over to me.

He places a kiss to my lips, before we hear whining. We both laugh as we realize Charlotte feels left out.

He picks her up and immediately licks all over his face and neck, we both laugh at her.

She is the cutest dog ever with weird ways of affection towards Wyatt.

So basically the reader is okay at skating but want to get better at it since she is dating a literal ice hockey player (jack hughes) so she starts showing up to the rink early in the morning to practice and one day jack shows up and begins to help the reader with her skating :)

I wake up to my alarm blaring in my ears. I groan turning it off, my eyes start to close again before I feel something licking me. I groan again, realizing it’s my dog, Vanilla.

‘’Ok, im up girl’’ I tell her as she keeps licking me.

As I get up and walk towards the kitchen to make some coffee, I hear my phone go off I pick it up to see a text from my boyfriend, Jack.

Wanna get breakfast??

I stare at it, too scared to tell him im going to the rink.

I haven’t told him I’ve been going for a while.

Maybe I should tell him.

No, it’s gonna be so embarrassing if he asks to come and sees how horrible I am at it.

I can’t woke up with a bad headache.

He responded almost immediately 

Do you want me to come over?

No its ok

Okay, I love you

I let out a deep breath, looking down at Vanilla she stares back up at me like she knows what just happened.

As I get ready I keep thinking about how I should tell him how long I’ve been doing this.

He won’t find out.

At least not yet.

A few days pass, with the same routine wake up, lie to Jack, go to the rink.

But today when I went I noticed a familiar person.

Its Jack.

I turn around ready to walk out, before I hear somebody call out my name. I turn around.

‘’What are you doing here?’’ I ask him.

‘’To help you.’’ He tells me causally.

‘’How did you even know I was here?’’

‘’We can see each other’s locations, remember.”

I completely forgot about that.

‘’You’ll help me?’’

‘’Of course, I will’���

I let out a soft laugh.

‘’Come on show me what you got.’’ He tells me as he gets my skates out.

Jack helps me put them on, he insisted that he had to, I look down at him admiring the way his fingers move softly through the laces and his hair falling in front of eyes. He pats my knees, pulling me out of my trance.

We walk over to the rank. A wave of anxiety slightly hits me. 

He puts his hand in mine.

‘’Im here to help, not to judge’’ He assures me.

I take a deep breath, before stepping on the ice.

We skate around the rink, my legs wobbling a little bit, Jack right beside me the whole time.

When we reach the end, I start to loose my balance, thankfully Jack was right there to catch me.

‘’Caught you.’’ He smiles at me.

He puts me back on my feet, hands still on my waist.

‘’I think you did really good, but make sure you have more bend in your knees.’’

‘’Thank you’’

He smiles back at me, before giving me a kiss on the lips. 

‘’Anytime, again, Im here to help you not judge.’’

When we finally put all our stuff up and leave. We go back to my apartment.

‘’Thank you for your help, I needed it.’’ I tell him.

‘’Of course Im here whenever you need me.”

When he was drafted to the San Jose Sharks I decided to go with him and move into together.

I was getting back home from the studio where i was working on my newest album.

Walking in mine and macklins apartment, somehow being spotless, I take my shoes off and place my bag on counter.

“Mack?” I yell when I notice he’s not on the couch waiting for me like he usually is. I’m met with silence.

I furrow my eyebrows, as I walk towards our room.

“What are you doing, baby?” I ask seeing him lying in bed with the covers over him.

“Nothing.” He mumbles.

I tilt my head a little bit confused on why he’s being so distant. I walk over and sit on the bed.

I pull the covers off of his face, and notice his eyes puffy and his cheeks blotchier than ever.

“Oh, baby, what’s wrong?” Pushing the hair away from his eyes.

He doesn’t respond, just pushes his head in my hand.

I glance over his phone noticing it was open on his Instagram comments with the pictures he just posted.

One of the pictures was with me and him, my head leaning on his shoulder and his arm wrapped around my waist.

As I look at the comments longer one catches my eye.

“He’s totally using her for fame 😭”

I grab his phone and scroll through them, confused on why the hell people would think that.

It hits me.

“Is this why you’re upset?” I ask while holding his phone.

He looks up at me and glossy eyes.

“Oh, Mack” as I pull him into me.

I wrap my arms around his back, rubbing up and down, as he places his arms around my waist.

I start to feel my shirt getting wet, I turn my head “You can’t be upset about this, especially cause they don’t even know us” I tell him before kissing his head.

“I know…i just don’t understand why people think that”

“No one gets to say wether you love me or not I know you love me and that’s all I need”

He lifts his head up from my shoulder and finally looks at me and has that cute small smile on his face.

I smile back at him before pecking his lips.

“I love you”

“I love you more” He tugs me closer to him.
