One of the highlights of driving through eastern Colorado and western Kansas are the pronghorns, which are not actually antelopes, but more closely related to giraffes. This was drawn with water soluble colored pencils and a water brush.

We stopped at the small town of La Veta, Colorado for some quality coffee. The town is at the foot of the mountains, and was completely overrun with mule deer. We probably saw 25 deer, but this buck was obviously the biggest trophy as he slowly ambled across the road. (at La Veta, Colorado)

Our first campsite was at the top of a butte in Lathrop State Park. We'd been driving all day, and pulled in just as the sun was about to set. What a great way to make camp that first night. (at Lathrop State Park)
