I find it crazy the things you can learn in a year.

The things you discover about yourself.  The things you can discover about yourself from someone else.

Even after working 50 hours a week, I have found, in the past few weeks, how much I am learning about myself.  How you spend 4 years of your life trying to be original, your own artist, and having your own, distinct voice.  But, I think that is what's funny about it all.  We spend so much time listening to how other people do things and these icons of music that some of us lose what we are aiming for - individuality.  And it's not that I didn't have that, it's just that I am learning that I don't have to sound like anyone.  I don't have to be like anyone.  I can be myself and people will love and cherish that more than the greatest impersonator in the world.

It's kind of crazy how everyone talks about how much they learned in college.  But, I think the one thing they forget to mention is how much more you learn after.  And it isn't necessarily what you learn about the job you do and how much you love or hate it, it is about you.  Always.

Being selfish isn't a crime.  It's a choice.  It's a freedom.  

It is making a choice to set yourself free from the things that tie you down.  From the people that hold you back from being and doing exactly what you're meant to be doing.

It is making the decision to not let anyone change you and to let everyone impact you in such a way that you grow beyond words and move beyond the speed of light.

There are days when I don't understand life.

No.  There are hours, weeks, months when I don't know what to do.  What decisions to make.  What path to choose.  I have been having so much anxiety about everything that I can't concentrate on my day to day life.  But, then I realize I have been looking at all of these obstacles in life from the wrong point of view.  

I have been talking to my sister a lot and she is really helping me.  And by her, I mean she is helping direct me to God and ask him for help and guidance rather than trying to make these big decisions on my own.  Of course the opinions of my peers and friends is a good thing to have and I value them, but they aren't always right and they aren't always looking to the right person for these answers.

Life is changing.  Life is moving forward.

Whether I like it or not, there are decisions to be made.  

I just hope they are the right ones.
