Hey, my name is Shelby – I think. Or Shleby? Or Meowth? Or Sweetie? I'm a European Shorthair – at least that's what my vaccination record says – and I'm the mistress of my two servants, Mamau and Pawpaw.

I'm almost seven human years old, making me at my prime.

When I was just a few days old, my cat mom left me alone on a hiking trail in Mameow and Pawpaw's village. Pawpaw's Mameow found me. Alone and defenseless. I had just opened my little eyes and could walk. Grandmeow took me with her and cared for me with a man she called her friend. But since Grandmeow had two old, sick cats of her own at home, I had to stay with the man. He raised me and took good care of me, but I still didn't really like him. Since I was completely filthy, Grandmeow even gave me a bath. She immediately went on my shitlist. I hate water! Pawpaw also came to visit me at my foster father's house. I was still so tiny that I could fit in his hand. I immediately felt comfortable with Pawpaw. As soon as I was in his hand, I curled up and fell asleep. I knew immediately: He's my Pawpaw.

Unfortunately, my foster father was determined to keep me with him. I tried every means possible to make him understand I wasn’t feeling well. The giardia infection also contributed to that.

I pooped under my foster father’s sofa and on his bed, but he didon’t give up. When he had the brilliant idea of bringing a second cat into the apartment, I thought he’d completely lost his mind. Why, in the name of Three Cats, did he bring that nuisance into the hHouse? „Hope.“ Hope my ass.

I first showed her who’s boss. It was me. But my foster father still didn’t get it.

And then came the real shocker: That stupid Hope had a fungus. A sick cat isn’t enough; no, she must have a serious fungal infection. A real attention whore. To prevent me from getting infected, my foster father gave me to Pawpaw and Mameow. They took such good care of me, and I felt more comfortable than ever. But unfortunately, my foster father wanted me back after two weeks. Hope had also, unfortunately, recovered from her infection.

In protest, I retreated to the balcony and created my own little kingdom there. Okay, yes, I pooped there. But that’s just how it works! And when Hope came to the door, I chased her away. I showed her my paws up close.

After a while, my foster father finally got it. He asked Pawpaw if he wanted to have me with him forever. I’m so happy he said yes. Mameow and Pawpaw immediately set up the apartment for me. With a scratching post, toys, and everything.

Now that I officially belonged to them, Mameow could finally do something about my stomachachee. She took some of my poop to work and then came back with pills that I had to take for a few days.

Finally, my stomach was back in order, and I could now fully concentrate on being a cat.

As soon as I felt better, I sought out Mameow and Pawpaw. A little petting here, a little ear scratching there. BUT DON’T TOUCH MY BELLY!

I soon dared to lie on Mameow and Pawpaw’s laps and sleep in their bed.

A little nose nudge here, a little foot lick there. BUT DON’T TOUCH MY BELLY!

Spring came, and Mameow and Pawpaw bought a net for the balcony so I could go outside and not fall off. Mameow equipped the balcony with lots of sandboxes. So many litter boxes! But somehow she always scolds me when I use one. And then she always puts so much greenery in it. What’s that all about? So it’s time to pee slalom. Maybe she just wants to challenge me. She likes doing that. After all, she also brought me a puzzle tower and a puzzle board. And I have treat balls, too. But challenging a cat to do its business is pretty mean.

I’m gaining more and more trust in Mameow and Pawpaw. A little pat on the bottom here, a little eye-cleaning there. BUT DON’T TOUCH MY BELLY! Okay, Mameow can do that. Pawpaw can pick me up instead.

Over time, we’re learning my favourite things together. When Pawpaw cooks fish, I always get a piece. My favourite is salmon. Man, it tastes good! Mameow cooked me fresh chicken gtablets, and I devoured them right away.

Once, Mameow baked ginger cookies. But when I stole some, she wasn’t at all impressed. How could she deny me something so delicious?! The same thing happened with her pumpkin muffins. Man, this human can bake delicious things! And that even though she and Pawpaw aren’t the brightest. When I meow at them, they meow back in unison. But with tons of mistakes! Or they meow something that makes no sense at all. They’re both very strange creatures.

But they’re my family, and I love them more than anything. Even Grandmeow is allowed to pet me and play with me now. I’m having less and less of a problem with visitors.

I’ll be seven soon. I’ve been living with Mameow and Pawpaw for five years now. I’m overjoyed to be with them and feel they love me, too.
