Showing off my collection of pins I’ve made so far! I’m a little bit proud of my little business AND being able to raise donations for conservation through my art. It’s crazy to think this began as a little classroom task two years ago that then came to fruition for my graduation piece for @lcimelbourne last year, and now I have just released 6 new pins! I even made a type based pin (hopefully I did alright by @speculatype’s standards 😉). And despite all the shit that’s happening globally people have been tremendously supportive and I continue to receive sales for my little art creations ☺️ So a huge HUGE thank you to you guys for continuing to support small businesses and independent artists. I’ll have pins, stickers, sculpts, art prints and photography available, with $2 from each sale donated to @australiananimalrescue and @BirdLife for the bushfire appeal - cash and eftpos facilities will be available. This will be a great opportunity to meet and support local artists and alumni, and LCI are will be holding an auction of some sweet art to raise funds for @Wildlifevictoria and @Redcrossau to support recovery and welfare for the community and animals and those impacted by the fires. Our charity fundraiser sale totalled over $10,700!! This has been split between NSW RFS and The Rescue Collective. Thank you to everyone who participated, shared and purchased; this wouldn't have been possible without you all. I feel so privileged to take part alongside so many wonderful artists. To celebrate I put together this little graphic, which doubled as an opportunity to dabble more with digital watercolour - still a learning curve but it was quite cathartic. I've been really emotional and depressed over the state of things and the monumental losses. This may very well see the end of some of our unique species endemic to specific regions, and I feel helpless and hopeless. But, seeing such an outpouring of support and unity in the face of disaster and knowing that our art can make a difference lifts my spirits. The very reason i started @blackrabbitwhiterabbitdesigns was to make a difference, to make art for good and combine it with my Zoology and animal sciences background to do what I can in a variety of ways to help animals. Myself and a bunch of awesome artists are banding together to raise funds for the RFS and The Rescue Collective, both doing amazing work during the Bushfire Emergency. For the next few days ALL PROFITS from sales from the Charity Sale listings will be donated to these organisations. Our government may not give much of a shit, but we can't sit back and do nothing while our country burns. Its difficult feeling so helpless and knowing people are in the line of fire - literally - and we have lost MILLIONS of animals, both livestock and wildlife. The Rescue Collective distributes support for domestic animal and wildlife rescues across Australia. Its time to do the 2019 wrap up and look back another year that's had a lot of ups and downs, but inevitably brought growth, experience and challenges. The whole shit storm that was the house settlement was stressful and awful, but despite the delay setbacks we still went on our Japan trip and it was beautiful! I was certainly spoilt by Damien and got to live my dream of seeing the cherry blossoms in bloom. I took part in the 36 Days of Type challenge that was creatively liberating. I bought a new car with some of the house settlement money, to replace my poor dying old Forester. We enjoyed a weekend in Marysville and Lake Mountain, and celebrated our 1 year anniversary in Castlemaine. I created my first enamel pin collections, started my own business, had my first major exhibition, and finally graduated from uni with my second degree. I met my wife, Hayley Atwell, finally got Loki's commemorative tattoo and added a new member to our little family. It's not been an easy ride, but I have to admit I'm proud of my accomplishments and somehow managing to overcome more shit the universe threw at me. I think there's some exciting things on the horizon for 2020 and I can't wait to see what opportunities it provides, creatively, professionally and personally. Wow what an incredible night! Congrats to all my fellow designers exhibiting work at @3rdyearshowcase, it was such a great turnout! My mum, my brother, my partner, Damien, and my good friend Renee (@chibi.pins) and her partner, Lawrence all came to support me for opening night ❤️ Their encouragement, advice, feedback and support have been instrumental in helping to propel me to where I am now as a designer, along with the amazing tutors and staff at @lcimelbourne. Unfortunately I did have one of my pins stolen from my display when I went to look at the rest of the exhibition, which is disappointing. I luckily had a replacement to display for the Regent Honey Eater that went AWOL, but hopefully the person that took it will appreciate it, and maybe realise it was actual stock and ping me a message. On the whole though, a great exhibition. I thoroughly enjoyed a sleep-in this morning!
