My totally sober thought last night was “Aikatsu idol, but she’s a VTuber” but now I realized than I am mistaken. The entirety of Aikatsu Planet cast are VTubers. Sorry I don’t make the rules.

Sooo….  The new series is apparently going to be a live-action drama, with CG ‘avatars’ for the performances.

I.  Don’t like this.  :/

But!  There’s still lots and lots of Aikatsu anime for me to enjoy.  And ultimately, a 23-24 yo American college student like myself is not the target audience.  So my two cents only goes so far.

I will say that the character designs are absolutely amazing and cute as heck, and I do feel that they’re wasted on a show like this.  I would have simply loved to see them in an anime where they got to really shine.  It’s unfortunate, but I’m not gonna get up in arms over it, since there’s not much point.  I don’t think I’m gonna watch it, but we’ll see how I feel when I finally finish everything else.

I hope the new characters have a fulfilling journey, and I’m looking forward to seeing what this new chapter of Aikatsu adds to the world.

akari and madoka are such a good unit. i feel like people don’t like skips just because they’re both cute types so it’s “boring” and that one time where they won the unit cup over dancing diva but their dynamic is so interesting ??

it’s the same opposites attract concept but done a lot more subtly. you have the more reserved and easily flustered akari, compared to madoka who’s really straightforward and likes teasing people. but they’re also both similar in the way they struggled having confidence in their abilities.

and when they interact, it doesn’t feel awkward at all. with dandiva, they work well together on stage, but off of it they just seemed like coworkers who respected each other’s talents. but with skips, it feels like a sisterly relationship with akari doting on madoka.

ICE made a decision to order all international students whose universities are online to leave the country or risk facing immigration consequences and getting deported which essentially means that students will have to decide between leaving the US or risk their health. many countries don’t even have their borders open and some people may not even have places to go so please sign this petition which requests that international students get the option to finish their degrees and remain in the USA
