I do this thing when I just call out a random time to intimidate my younger sibling, bonus points if it's super specific and it's in the night. Like if they annoy me, I'll just say '9:36!' and leave the room.

Silly Game Time: In honor of Pride Month ... How would you describe your gender identity WITHOUT using terms commonly associated with sex, sexuality, or even gender itself? You might need to get a little abstract, a little ~poetic~ with it.
(For example, instead of using cis or gay or man, I myself might go with "a mountaineer crossed with a language teacher crossed with a jester who wants to garrote billionaires using a rainbow flag".)
a literature student crossed with a chaotic artist with a little bit of hopeless romantic for charismatic boys in her ADHD-coded brain
And um @jkl-fff I'm mostly active on @thescifiwitch so I would really love it if you could send me SGTs there 🤗

Silly Game Time: Everybody is getting one treat that is traditionally associated with summer in their cultures. What are you choosing for yourself? (Myself, I think I'll go with a bowl of fresh peaches, raspberries, and a dollup of whipped cream.)
I don't know if this is a personal or universal experience but where I come from, Summer doesn't mean beach days or smoothies or exotic vacations. It means two words:
NO. SCHOOL.
So I'll stick with good ol' Jollof Rice. Yes, it is mostly for parties but screw you

Silly Game Time: It is said, "If you see something, say something." Well, today I saw a squirrel jump for a tree trunk and miss (it was on the ground, so the only thing it hurt was its dignity), and so I'm saying that. What have you seen today?
I saw my sister eat some of my brother's noodles when he wasn't looking!

Roxy - Memes, memes and memes all the way. Changes pfp and blog themes all the time. Likes all of Layla (her gf) posts and sends the most random asks to anyone
Layla - still getting used to social media so mostly reblogs but her theme would be very aesthetic. She would also post her poems and follows everyone who likes them
Wendy - reblogs of very unhinged and dark posts. Don't go to her blog unless you want to be traumatized, confused or slightly disgusted. She is on a lot of DNIs and blocklists due to her disturbing habit of sending asks that mention personal things she has noticed about people.
Maxine - Is an admin and mod for MANY communities. She's on a few blocklist since people think she's a pedo cuz she has all these reblogs of little kids, especially girls, but that's because they remind her of her little sister who passed away in the accident that made her a cyborg :)
No pressure tags!

What my OCs would do if they had tumblr:
Parker ~ their blog would be weird, just because the majority of the things they’d post would be vents and the like, but then they’d get scared soon after and delete them because they’re scared of people getting to know them and hating them after so you could swear they post a lot even though their blog is relatively free of original content. Otherwise, they’d post occasional pictures of themself and also reblog every single post of Roksi’s art or Quincey’s music.
Roksi ~ Oh she would be so chaotic. Reblogging everything. Her blog would be impossible to navigate. Most heinous colour scheme ever. Yet she’d probably have loads of followers. Her original posts would mostly be pictures of her art, makeup, or outfits. She would also send loads of asks to people and be so happy to answer them in return. Her main goal would be for her blog to be a safe space for everyone and to make people happy!
Harlyn ~ she wouldn’t post or reblog much, so her blog would be relatively empty, but she would still be silently spectating everyone. Even if you feel like she’s ignoring you, reality is that she’s probably read every single one of your posts. When she does make her own, they’d either be pictures of Roksi and Quincey, or making fun of Parker.
Quincey ~ very aesthetic, very pleasant, very calm. She wouldn’t post for a long time, but her friends would bully into posting videos of her singing and playing guitar, and she’d end up getting loads of followers for her talent, and maybe even start to believe in herself a bit. She’d reblog pretty pictures of the sky. She’d also probably try and use it as a space for activism and for spreading other people’s stories. Plus she’d send loads of positive and kind anons to everyone, but never confirm that it’s her :)
-I am going to tag a few people and try to start a tag game but absolutely no pressure to join in, also if I haven’t tagged you but you want to join feel free!-

✏️ Writing Dialogue That Sounds Like Real People, Not Theater Kids on Red Bull
(a crash course in vibes, verbal economy, and making your characters shut up already)
Okay. We need to talk about dialogue. Specifically: why everyone in your draft sounds like they’re in a high school improv group doing a dramatic reading of Riverdale fanfiction.
Before you panic, this is normal. Early dialogue is almost always too much. Too polished. Too "scripted." So if yours feels off? You’re not failing. You’re just doing Draft Zero Dialogue, and it’s time to revise it like a boss.
Here’s how to fix it.
─────── ✦ ───────
🎭 STEP ONE: DETOX THEATER ENERGY I say this with love: your characters are not all quippy geniuses. They do not need to deliver emotional monologues at every plot beat. They can just say things. Weird, half-finished, awkward things.
Real people:
interrupt each other
trail off mid-thought
dodge questions
contradict themselves
repeat stuff
change the subject randomly
Let your characters sound messy. Not every line needs to sparkle. In fact, the more effort you put into making dialogue ✨perfect✨, the more fake it sounds. Cut 30% of your clever lines and see what happens.
─────── ✦ ───────
🎤 STEP TWO: GIVE EACH CHARACTER A VERBAL FINGERPRINT The fastest way to make dialogue feel alive? Make everyone speak differently. Think rhythm, grammar, vocabulary, tone.
Some dials you can twist:
Long-winded vs. clipped
Formal vs. casual
Emojis of speech: sarcasm, filler words, expletives, slang
Sentence structure: do they talk in fragments? Run-ons? Spirals?
Emotion control: are they blunt, diplomatic, avoidant, performative?
Here’s a shortcut: imagine what your character sounds like over text. Are they the “lol okay” type or the “okie dokie artichokie 🌈✨” one? Now translate that into speech.
─────── ✦ ───────
🧠 STEP THREE: FUNCTION > FILLER Every line of dialogue should do something. Reveal something. Move something. Change something.
Ask:
Does this line push the plot forward?
Does it show character motivation/conflict/dynamic?
Does it create tension, add context, or raise a question?
If it’s just noise? It’s dead air. Cut it. Replace it with a glance. A gesture. A silence that says more.
TIP: look at a dialogue scene and remove every third line. Does the scene still work? Probably better.
─────── ✦ ───────
💥 STEP FOUR: REACTIVITY IS THE GOLD STANDARD Characters don’t talk into a void. They respond. And how they respond = the real juice.
Don’t just write back-and-forth ping pong. Write conflict, dodge, misunderstanding. If one character says something vulnerable, the other might joke. Or ignore it. Or say something cruel. That’s tension.
Dialogue is not just information exchange. It’s emotional strategy.
Try this exercise: A says something revealing. B lies. A notices, but pretends they don’t. B changes the subject. Now you’ve got a real scene.
─────── ✦ ───────
🔍 STEP FIVE: PAY ATTENTION TO POWER Every convo has a power dynamic, even if it’s tiny. Who’s steering? Who’s withholding? Who’s deflecting, chasing, challenging?
Power can shift line to line. That shift = tension. And tension = narrative fuel.
Write conversations like chess matches, not ping pong.
─────── ✦ ───────
✂️ STEP SIX: SCISSORS ARE YOUR BEST FRIEND The best dialogue is often the second draft. Or third. Or fourth. First drafts are just you figuring out what everyone wants to say. Later drafts figure out what they actually would say.
Things to cut:
Greetings/closings ("Hi!" "Bye!"--skip it unless it serves tone)
Exposition disguised as chat
Obvious thoughts spoken aloud
Explaining jokes
Repeating what we already know
Readers are smart. Let them fill in blanks.
─────── ✦ ───────
🎧 STEP SEVEN: READ IT OUT LOUD (YES, REALLY) If you hate this step: too bad. It works. Read it. Mumbling is fine. Cringe is part of the ritual.
Ask yourself:
Would someone actually say this?
Does this sound like one person speaking, or a puppet show with one hand?
Where does the rhythm trip? Where’s the breath?
If you can’t say it out loud without wincing, the reader won’t make it either. Respect the vibe.
─────── ✦ ───────
🏁 TL;DR: If you want your dialogue to sound like real people, let your characters be real. Messy. Annoying. Human. Let them interrupt and lie and joke badly and say the wrong thing at the worst time.
Cut the improv class energy. Kill the urge to be ✨brilliant✨. And listen to how people talk when they’re scared, tired, pissed off, in love, or trying not to say what they mean.
That’s where the good stuff is.

hi, sorry, this might be weird but its cool that you're an African fic writer. I find writing places I haven't been to or a life I haven't experienced kinda hard. I mean my life's pretty small and uneventful but its cool to see another African writer. If it isn't so weird, which country are you from. I'm from Nigeria. I'll do well to read and support your fics the best I can 😄👋
Okay. This is actually crazy. I'm from Nigeria too!!!!!
It is soooooooooo great to meet you! I took a look at your blog and saw that you like animated shows and movies. I do too! Especially Disney in their old era, like The Owl House (what I am currently fixated on), Amphibia (haven't watched yet) and Gravity Falls (watched and loved). I also love Marvel shows and movies and is a big fan of superheroes! My ao3 account is Chimso btw, though I haven't written much 😅!

Silly Game Time: We need more disco ballads about historical figures in the vein of "Ra-Ra-Rasputin" by Boney M. Who do you think someone should write an absolute banger of a disco ballad about?
I don't really listen to music but I would like one about Abraham Lincoln. He's my favourite historic figure of American history and I desperately wish that another president like him would come sooner or at least his soul should possess Trump if we're stuck with him. I would like to live with my dad in the States one day and I won't want this kind of shit to be happening then.

New story idea!
I got this idea for a superhero universe where there are different types of heroes such as the Superhumans, Magicians, Vigilantes and Spies. Superhumans have science-based, often genetic, powers. Magicians obviously have magical powers. Vigilantes are heroes who are loyal to the Superhumans and are often skilled in weaponry. And Spies are like the Vigilantes but live in secrecy. There are two types of Superhumans: the Sentinels, who are morally-grey but lawful, love to follow rules and protocol while the Renegades are more chaotic good and follow heart and instinct rather than rules and hierarchy.
Since it's Pride Month, I thought of some ocs for an LGBTQ kinda love story that takes place here. Well, I don't really have a story for it and the whole thing is reallly underdeveloped but eh.
Roxy is a Superhuman with fire powers. She's impulsive and reckless with a heart of gold. Layla is a Magician (a witch, specifically) that specializes in sun spells and healing magic. They are dating. I do not know yet how they met but Roxy often visits Layla in the realm where Magicians live, which I have for now called Wonderland.
Maxine is a Superhuman who's also a cyborg. She's chaotic and funny and a genius but she's also very dangerous but doesn't seem to know nor get that. Her hero name is X like maX. She was in an accident when she was young that also killed her little sister and the reason why she was turned into a cyborg so she she has nightmares about the accident and her cybernetic surgery but she just pushes down her feelings and keeps being the laid-back and funny girl the team knows her to be.
Wendy is a witch that comes from a long line of Magicians. She is eccentric and whimsical but can be surprisingly wise at times and no doubt very powerful. She dabbles in spells, illusions and chaos magik. Unlike most Magicians who are not used to the violence and brute force of the main Hero world, Wendy loves it and gets in on the 'fun' herself with the help but her sparkly pink baseball bat.
I have some scenes that I've imagined like when Layla, when Roxy doesn't visit for a while, goes to the main hero world for the first time and meets Maxine and gets up in this high-speed chase with criminals. Or this super heart warming scene where there's Halloween in Wonderland and Layla is dressed up as Wonder Woman and hurt Roxy's feelings so when she goes to find Roxy, she's gets in trouble and Roxy dressed as a ghost saves her so they have this convo with Layla pretending not to know Roxy is the ghost and ends up kissing her when they make up -> "Sorry I got lipstick on your costume." Or this dialogue between Wendy and Roxy.
"Heya Roxy! How's it going?"
"Hey, Wendy. Not so good, I'm afraid. I kinda traumatized my girlfriend. I just finally put her to sleep."
"Oof, I hear you. My mum won't talking about 'traumatizing my brother in his primitive years' ugh."
"Hey, Wendy? How do you do it? Not all Magicians are this comfortable with...you know..."
"Oh, it's not a big deal. I just take everything as a fun game and keep swinging my bat!"
"But it's not always a game, Wen. Lives can --and have been-- lost."
