"I believe in manicures. I believe in overdressing. I believe in primping at leisure and wearing lipstick. I believe in PINK. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day, and I BELIEVE IN MIRACLES." -Audrey Hepburn

unfiltered thoughts on Oppenheimer (this late? yes)
**obviously, spoilers. also, completely not in chronological order**
the cut-ins of stars and atoms until shit gets more serious and then it’s bombs until eventually it’s the devastation of seared flesh
the pacing was great - like why am i feeling anxious and completely engaged for a full 3 hours?
also the deeply uneasy feeling i had through the whole film was so scary. like all that was REAL though
takeaway - we trust the government and science to be neutral but it’s ALWAYS political. the irony of an ideologically communist, self-described leftist creating something that creates so much undiscerning destruction and death
The sinking feeling of knowing they knew there was a chance this could destroy the entire world and doing it anyway
he’s tormented? good. the fact that creating something like that CAN'T be an entirely theoretical or neutral endeavor
why does no one else feel life-long gut-wrenching life ruining guilt??
the huberis of man. believing they have the right to destroy in that way. that they have the power to decide the benefits outweigh the cost. that they can play god that way. that they have the ownership over the planet to decide that protecting their place on it is worth more than destroying another.
the terror i feel deep in my chest. the near hysteria i feel. on the verge of hyperventilating because i have no idea what destroyer of worlds exists in 2024 and it’s so clear no one is going to make morality and ethics the final word. they won’t protect us or choose not to destroy us
The fact oppenheimer has to keep reminding them that they also dropped a bomb on nagasaki
old makeup was actually really good
i can’t believe they actually thought dropping the biggest bomb in history (TWICE!!) would end all war. that people would see that demonstration of power and disregard for human life and decide we could never have war again. also the hypocrisy that the rest of the world would look at that and stand down forever but the US had the right to drop it in the first place
unserious point that needs to be made: every time tony goldwyn spoke i was kicking my feet but that’s my problem
robert downey jr really was acting
another unserious point: sorry but oppy is an aritzia girlie with those high waisted pants
one more: oppenheimer was a horse girl
actually, more horses in this movie than anticipated
so much of war is men having the audacity to play god with lives they don’t feel compelled to care about or deem as worthy as their own (or those similar to their own)
and they are so shameless about it in closed rooms
we will never know the way politicians play with world destruction behind closed doors in the room where it happens
we will never know what potentially earth shattering atrocities are being discussed to glibly by the leaders who have the power to flatten countries
"destroyer of worlds" is actually crazy
Times I Cried:
when they did the math and realized they could possibly set off a chain reaction in the atmosphere that never ends and consumes the whole world and i knew they were going to do it anyway (this thought would continue to consume me for the entire movie)
when they were in DC deciding the target of the bomb and talking about it so idiotically like this wasn’t going to destroy so many lives
in the same scene when oppenheimer was taking about the psychological impact of a bomb like that. just the knowing that something like that could happen — the terror of the vision of it
the celebration at the test when it worked and everyone was thrilled without any thought to what the purpose was at that moment.
“the japanese aren’t going to like it”
the fact they “needed” to kill hundreds of thousands of people to “bring our boys home”
when truman is on the radio saying the bombs were detonated in hiroshima and nagasaki

unfiltered thoughts on Twisters (not serious because it is a deeply unserious movie)
there may be no love in oklahoma but im in love with glen powell
the way my weakness is an arrogant man with a heart of gold
i can’t control my dislike of anthony ramos. it’s all im thinking about when he’s on screen
oh you knew all those people were going to die immediately because we saw NONE press from them. they were completely insignificant to the rest of the story
whoever put glen powell in a white t shirt in the rain knew exactly what they were doing
sorry. he’s seduced me.
glen powell looking like that using a laptop? lol don’t make me laugh. he has no need of computer
i would hate to die in a car next to anthony ramos wearing a bluetooth headset
i love when a movie has a narrative structure with zero surprises. i can relax and just have a good time
he not just cowboy. he smart boy
honestly i can’t get behind a man named glen or tyler so that was troubling but i got over it
the thing a man’s back does when he’s wearing a collared shirt tucked in with the sleeves rolled up? elite.
sorry i’m getting flutters whenever that man is on screen
the jeans and boots were doing it for me and that's so not me
love a damseled man but i wish anthony ramos didn’t have to save the day … yuck
LOL FIRE TORNADO? shut the f up. imagine pitching that?? shut up
that guy who works with anthony ramos is kind of hot. who is that? (edit: oh that's literally david corenswet, the guy who is playing superman lol)
why was anthony ramos in love with her and then rooting for glen powell? like what changed between the climax and the end
i cannot condone tearing up the kiss and ride at the airport. that’s just ruining everyone’s day
did we ever resolve evil real estate man or just move on?

unfiltered thoughts on wicked (not that deep or original but i need to have my say)
**spoilers, obviously, govern yourself accordingly**
the green paint becomes believable almost immediately. that baby is definitely CGI green tho
they really just spoiled the big reveal at the end of pt 2 that the wizard is her dad because that was SO obviously jeff goldblum
jeff goldblum is only ever himself, i guess
you really shouldn’t interact with your prof like that, Elphaba
Ariana is doing comedy. that much is true. but about 40% of it is editing AND people seem to forget this girl was forged in the fires of Nickelodeon physical comedy. she's a professional pratfaller
if they left less space between “so if you care to find me” part and “no wizard who there is or was” i would have cried. but as it is, i just teared up. idk why jon did that
could NOT catch my breath when she started flying after she was falling and then at the end when she sang her final stanza
v cute representation moment when she says “she’s green” and then says she doesn’t want to be degreenified. i felt that
more ozian words in normal conversation, please.
loved the meaningful and comedic use of idina and kristin. queens.
okay jonathan bailey. i am in love with you. you are a vision. i was having the most unhinged thoughts watching dancing through life
the MICRO expressions from cynthia! the woman is using every single muscle in her face to convey emotion. she's using muscles i didn't know could be used independently from each other. ACTING.
on the subject of oscar nom for ari: honestly, i’m not sure. because it’s certainly a performance but it’s more comedic than dramatic and the oscars are so reluctant to reward comedy. she has some emotional beats but idk if she’s doing truly groundbreaking acting (see: pratfall point)
that being said, i feel like there’s buzz around both selena (emilia perez) and ariana just because people view them as pop stars so they think any level of acting is a big deal (forgetting they literally started with acting)
can't stop thinking about the fact that ari’s hands are COVERED in foundation. what did they use??

unfiltered thoughts on the movie Queer (sorry not that deep)
*spoilers, obviously, govern yourself accordingly*
some movies are too artsy for me to understand and that's okay
oooooh he means ayahuasca
drew starkey = lanky hot. very good for my eyes. thank you.
the glasses?? shut the fk up
daniel craig really embodies this role. this man was finally released from the hypermasculine clutches of james bond and said I AM AN ACTOR
the sets, the styling, the landscapes... this movie has SETTING. it is in a TIME and PLACE. i want to watch the whole thing again without the actors blocking my view of the set design
did they use miniatures for some of the establishing shots or did they just shoot the locations to look like miniatures (i will look this up later; that's not what this dump is about)
soundtrack and score are stellar.
the dirt. i feel dirty watching this (complimentary)
how are their eye glasses so clean when they are so so dirty?
not me having to google "queer movie end meaning"
i really need to know if we're okay with jason schwartzman's performance. like. is that offensive?
this is what On Swift Horses was trying to do (no shade to my man will poulter ily)
i'm so sorry i'm too stupid to understand some of the symbolism
