Lady Green
A praying mantis lives upon
The grandkid sunflower
It seems female for all I know
Though quite small
With arching abdomen
She lets me close
Poses even for photos
When lounging on a plate of seeds
She glints her eyes ferocious green
Then slaps a foolish bumblebee
She rips another's head
To munch still in the summer light
Pondering a name perhaps
Or any curious innocence
The cricket plays a constant song
In flower potted nooks
The moon does so appear
And the lady hides beneath the leaves.

Rainbow Patches
I carry so much shit
with me
chestnuts, beads and petals
fill my bags
whatever knick-knacks you'd
say, I smile
but once I lost my
Bulbasaur
and it found its way back
to me.
It's dangerous to go
alone
the heart is a heavy
burden here
so Wonder lends its
bravery --
or so I thought yet what
if they fear,
too, when breaking down lose,
astray?
This silly oath, I feel,
is shared --
such minute nothings plus a
nobody
are magnetic threads in
rainbow quilt
bright patches that I
wanna be --
would I then not protect
'em all?

I finished the novel yesterday, I will write a more detailed review later, but I have a question.
I've read some reviews and many people highlighted how scary and chilling the story sometimes is. But I kid you not, I don't remember being scared at all.
And I don't specifically like spiders either, so, I don't know.
So anyone here who has read The Silence Factory, were you scared?
I'm reading The Silence Factory by Bridget Collins, and it's very fascinating, I still like how captivating her storytelling is, but man... she is so didactic with the (I suppose) gay romance(s).
So far nothing has been spellt out that much yet, I'm still around the 1/3 of the novel, yet I'm 90% sure Henry's and Sophie's stories would turn into a gay romance. But idk, maybe it's just me but one can build relationship without one character randomly seeing the other naked with bulging eyes. Or outright worshipping the other person with very suggestive thoughts after like a mere few days of knowing him.
And before anyone comes at me, the suggested, behind the curtain hetero sex scene was again very didactic and cheap way to justify pregnancy in the very next diary entry.
But we are yet to see how it all unfolds...

Okay, I'm reaching the end of this novel.
(I can return another book to the library that I actually read from cover to cover yay)
Anyways...
So-so-so much mystery! I wonder how much Collins will reveal in the last (I think) 2 chapters, but aaaa I feel like I wanna know more about the past. But I think she will not make things too explicit :(
SPOILERS
And, truthfully, I'm so sorry for those spiders. I feel like they didn't really have to die. They all were prisoners, they did not enjoy being enslaved and used for stupid monetary gains. They should have been released. But, on the other hand, I do realize they had no chance surviving the flood or I guess England, or getting back to their home. And if they happened to be recaptured, then Ashmore-Percy would continue his rotten business.
END OF SPOILERS
It seems like Collins tends to dramatize the end of her novels, seeing how eventful they all are, though I think The Binding's ending is really shitty XD.
This is a very cunning way to hook her readers. I wonder if she would write a story that cover more books. Like trilogies.
Who knows?
But yeah, the way she treats and signals romance is way too didactic. My opinion hasn't changed.
But I wonder whether Henry's feelings are related to / caused by the silk. 🤔

Okay, Henry's obsession is realistic considering how broken he is, it's just idk... things don't have to be this didactic?
Maybe it's just my perception.
