๐๐ก๐๐๐จ : chimera
๐๐๐๐ ๐จ๐ฉ๐ค๐ง๐ฎ : alexandraโs inhuman genes were triggered when she was 13, on the day her father was killed. after her fatherโs death and her materialized powers, alexandra fled from the remote facility in canada to vancouver. she was observed by s.w.o.r.d agents who had been sent to find her after the terrigen mist had been detected. alexandra wasnโt approached by s.w.o.r.d until months after she arrived in vancouver, and she didnโt take kindly to hearing they had followed her. she refused to go with them at first, but her uncontrollable transformations were causing pain that they said s.w.o.r.d could make better. without many options, she agreed.
she spent years working with s.w.o.r.d. she trained alongside s.h.i.e.l.d agents in combat and learned how to control her abilities. without much reference from a world lacking in inhumans, it was a tedious process. by her early 20s, alexandra - never having the goal of becoming an agent - took her leave from s.w.o.r.d and moved to seattle. soon after, she was invited to the avengers initiative, but refused on the account that her powers were โtoo unpredictable.โ (it was more that she didnโt see the heroism in herself.) she regretted the choice after the new york attacks.
she moved to new york while they were rebuilding from the battle. it wasnโt until after s.h.i.e.l.d fell that she was re-invited to the avengers by maria hill. this time, she accepted.
๐ฅ๐ค๐ฌ๐๐ง๐จ + ๐๐๐๐ก๐๐ฉ๐๐๐จ : alexandra calls herself a shapeshifter, but that isnโt entirely accurate. she can only shift certain parts of her body at a time, not her entire body at once. she can change her legs to that of a gazelleโs, her hands to a falconโs talons. she takes on the traits of animals that she can visualize. once, in an extreme case, her skin grew the armor of an armadillo. the amount of time she remains shifting/the amount of time she can stay fighting depends on how intense the transformation is.ย
๐ฅ๐๐ง๐จ๐ค๐ฃ๐๐ก๐๐ฉ๐ฎ : she has seen a lot. her personality reflects this. tired, blunt, with a bit of a softer edge that only comes out with friends. sheโs especially bitter after losing so many people in the fight against thanos, and feels like she lost a bit of her heroism during and after that time. she believes in doing the right thing, but that wonโt stop her from being sarcastic and fed up about it. if you think about it critically, beneath her hard exterior, she seems to believe in โI canโt get hurt if I donโt care about you.โ
๐๐๐๐๐ก๐๐๐ฉ๐๐ค๐ฃ๐จ : the avengers, team cap
๐๐๐ : late thirties
๐ข๐๐จ๐ ๐๐๐๐ฉ๐จ :
โคท good friends with sam, bucky, and monica
โคท 5'8", natural red head, has lots of freckles
โคท lesbian
โคท went radio silent during the blip as she processed the loss against thanos as well as her grief
โคท was contained in the raft after the airport fight in civil war; lived in seattle after being broken out
โคท likes trashy tv (her favorite is too hot to handle)
โคท lives in Brooklyn
โคท keeps contact with people in s.w.o.r.d for inhuman research purposes
โคท she likes to fly via wing transformation, but it drains her too much to justify doing it outside of a battle context
โคท has framed photos of her time with the avengers all around her apartmentย
โคท tries not to drink that often because inebriation lowers her ability controlย
โคท can have a short fuse temper

๐ค๐ง๐๐๐๐ฃ : alexandra horn was thirteen years old when she was exposed to terrigen mist. her father was a head scientist at [redacted], which gave him access to some of the earthโs very limited supply of terrigen crystals. the two of them were close; both out of the necessity of living in a far removed scientific compound and because they only had each other. she never found out how her fatherโs attachment to his daughter became outsider knowledge, but she curses how careless he was with her existence. how he didnโt consider that people wanted the crystals, and that they would do anything to get them.
the terrorist group - nameless, cowards behind masks - that wanted them knew that dr. horn loved his daughter. with a gun to her head, they dragged alexandra through the underprepared facility, one that was easily overwhelmed and quick to point the intruders to dr. hornโs laboratory. when they arrived, he was mid-experiment, trying to replicate the supposed mist form that the crystals could takeโ
her fatherโs pleas for them to let her go were buried beneath the pounding in her ears and the loud demands for the terrigen crystals. his form was blurred by her tears, something she became thankful for when the bullets met his stomach, his expression surely one of horror. of pain. and the sample in his hand dropped and met the prepared water beneath. alexandra was shoved to the ground, someone yelling about how you just killed our only lead! she didnโt listen - she was crawling over to her father, not realizing the tendrils of mist crawling across the table. she grabbed her fatherโs coat, and took an inhale of a sob - and the mist entered her lungs.
alexandraโs terrigenesis was fueled by fear and grief. she knew that her world was burning, that she would die once the terrorists had what they wanted. her body responded in turn, that primal desire to survive rippling through her genes. her body morphed, limbs transforming in painful bursts of power she couldnโt control. a lionโs pawโ the teeth of a sharkโ screams from the men that took her world away. she hadnโt expected flesh and bone to split so easily.
after spilling all of their blood, alexandra found her father. her body was alive and thrumming with her inhuman genes, hardly held under control by her fear of scaring her dad. she entwined her fingers with his, bloody nails gentle as she accepted that any effort to save him was futile. he looked at her with the eyes of a proud father, an expression no tears could hide.
โgood job, alexandra.โ
she disappeared after that day, a loose end that [redacted] wanted to find. dr. hornโs final experiment โ his own daughter, the chimera.

tag: goddess' hand

some context: hanan is the tagalog goddess of morning, day, and new beginnings
๐ค๐ง๐๐๐๐ฃ : when she was in college, tala watched the news coverage of the 2012 attack on new york. she joined the red cross immediately after. she worked as a disaster volunteer for years, particularly wanting to help those impacted by superheroes and villains. through it all, she kept her faith that she was doing the right thing, and that she was helping when the heroes (who she respected) couldnโt. she kept this up until the blip. she was in new york, assisting the city after the black order attacked. watching most of her friends disappear in the middle of a disaster zone devastated her.ย
tala pushed herself even harder into her work, desperately trying to compartmentalize her feelings. she felt like she was fighting an uphill battle, especially when the world seemed to give up on heroes - including her. even so, she was an outspoken activist for the communities that suffered the most from the blip, calling on others to take up that hopelessness and use it for good.ย
this is when hanan began to take notice of her. tala was something special; even in a universe-wide tragedy, the woman was flickering with light. she was exactly the avatar that hanan had been looking for.ย
when the snap reversed the blip, tala found herself in a strange place. all of her work from the past five years was uprooted; all of the people she grieved had returned in the blink of an eye. her struggling belief that she was doing something that mattered shattered completely. hanan saw talaโs devastation as a prime moment to have her become the goddessโ avatar - for no matter how kind she seemed, she was still a god, who needed a means to an end.ย
once she convinced tala that she was in fact real and not some mental breakdown induced hallucination, hanan only used one argument to persuade the young woman to become an avatar.ย
โjoin me, and what you do will matter. I can assure you.โ
a part of tala saw this as selfish. was it truly helping if it was for her own faith in good? was it being a hero if she was doing it to prove something to herself? but another part of her - the part that won out - saw this as an opportunity to do what she had wanted to since 2012. it was an opportunity to make a difference.ย
tala became the hand of hanan on a warm dawn, and has been ever since.
