CalTri Epic Ride #1 Angels and Demons! I joined over one hundred cyclists in biking from Anaheim to Solana Beach, traveling 80 miles in 5 hours. This is my longest ride on the calendar so far and it felt great!! I paced myself well will the help of Mike, Anne, and Kim, and learned that I need to adjust my nutrition intake and add more salt to my diet for longer rides. I had a great time on my bike and riding with the CalTri team!

CalTri Skills Camp 2017 - Way cool CalTri was lucky enough to hear Mary Ellis talk at the AZ Skills Camp, and learn about nutrition, training, and racing tips for the season. I learned how to do a flying dismount, so so exciting, and other bike handling, open water swimming, running, and strength training techniques. I met so many great people and athletes along with gaining new skills at the camp.

The course of my first triathlon of the season - Bonelli Park, CA. I'll be back in a week for the Sprint Tri. Until then it's rest, hydrate, and get psyched for the polar plunge!

Cheers to a new season of triathlon, this time round I'm training for my first Half Ironman, Santa Rosa 70.3, in May 2017!! I'm both nervous and excited for such a long season of training, doing long rides with my amazing training partners, and having new adventures!

I’m going to try these drills in my spin class today. I know many people don’t think about what their feet are doing when they bike. Flat feet people and think of pushing and pulling at the two 45s!

Something to keep in mind from as we are nearing the start of the Tri Season. Swimming technique can really shave off the minutes in this sport.

Volunteering with my mum for CalTri @ Trick or Tri 2016 was a success! Our pancake breakfast team busted it out for hours making over 1,000 pancakes for racers and their families. I enjoyed supporting many friends of CalTri and the Disney Tri Team, and giving back to the Tri community.

And that’s a wrap! ..The Nautica Malibu Classic Distance relay was so much fun, I’m so glad I had the opportunity to sub in as one of the Disney Triathlon Team’s runners and participate with everyone I’ve trained with these past many months! Training alongside such supportive and encouraging people along the way has been the best part! ❤️🏊🏻🚴🏼🏃

The 2016 Dwight Crum Pier to Pier 2 Mile Swim was a success! I competed in the wetsuit division with all these fabulous people and came in 2nd place for my age group females 20-29!!! I wasn't expecting to even place but I've done a lot of training this season for triathlon and changed my swim stroke this time round and it's paid off! I shaved off a couple minutes and felt much more confident in the water, even though it was choppy. It was a fun swim!

Last weekend I had a hard fall when I was biking with CalTri and fell from an unaware biker crossing in front of me when I was booking it down a Long Beach narrow bike trail. The guy cut me off so that I veered down a cement embankment to avoid hitting him. I was going too fast to brake so I forced my bike sideways, leaning into the slope before I hit the base of which could've flipped my bike...I didn't want to find out. Luckily I fell in the best way, hitting bum first but scraping the side of my leg and ankle as I skidded to a halt. As much as it hurt I was traumatized from going down such a steep incline but was quickly helped out by a group of CalTri members who made sure I was okay and got me back on my bike. I shakily mounted and knowing I didn't have any broken bones, i was able to make the slow 15 miles to the start with pains from road rash and burning but thinking all along, I was lucky.

Here's an article to correct over-reaching, simplify your stroke, and focus more on the push and glide of your freestyle stroke to make you swim faster and more efficiently.
