welp! I can’t believe it happened, but apparently, ao3 did a mass deletion of a ship tag. Idk if it’s the supposed 1 person, but seeing how the community is reacting, it’s looking like more than 1 author got their fics deleted with no warning. I’m so disappointed it happened in ao3 and I’m just waiting for response about it because the jump of fic numbers was too extreme to not be noticed. 8k to 5k man. Ship war might be a reason for it, but again, I’m just waiting to see if my support ticket gets response. Also has this happened before? Like on ao3 in particular?

What ship tag?

AO3 periodically puts its foot down with serial offenders who refuse to stop using AO3 to funnel people to their kofis, and non-fanwork spam gets deleted. It's unlikely that they just deleted a bunch of fanworks for no reason though.

Because people still think that worthless methodology on the Top 100 Ships means something, some fuckface posted three thousand spam works just to force their ship on there. No, not the AI fics of the show for toddlers. Machine translated repeat upload drabbles for one of the ten kajillion Genshin ships. Then they orphaned half of them or made them anon or something to try to pretend that the lurkers support them in e-mail other authors posted this flood too.

Now that AO3 has gotten around to deleting their spam, they're apparently wailing about it somewhere on social media and trying to paint AO3 as censors. This is resulting in a flood of lackeys whining to AO3 about how Concerned™ they are.

no one can convince me that kakashi didn't specifically go looking for iruka during pains attack on the village for a few different reasons but mainly because

kakashi knows iruka puts his life on the line constantly to protect/help others and has been witness to it at least twice before (the mission they went on together, the 3 kunoichi in the backhills, taking the fuma shuriken to the back for naruto, etc)

he knows naruto has just lost jiraiya-- i can guarantee you iruka dying was the first thing he thought about when the attack started. there's no way he was going to let that happen a second time.

he values iruka. like. inherently. and narratively. not just because of reasons 1 and 2, but because iruka represents (the will of fire, to us as viewers, but) the future/kind of village kakashi wants to see.

forever imagining kakashi making his way across the village, surrounded by chaos, sharingan ready and heart in his throat, praying to everything more powerful than him that he found him in time

Oh no, sorry for the late response! I just saw this in my inbox. I don't know how I missed it.

I see no harm in revealing what happened to Howard (I don't think I'll be returning to this fic at this point). Copy and pasting my old notes, I put:

"Bucky is found in 1963 and in Howard’s discovery that he survived begins to work with Bucky’s blood in order to find a way to transfer the aging qualities to him and Peggy. When the new serum proves to be a success in 1980 Howard celebrates with drinks and Tony is born 9 months later. Howard claims Tony is named after Tony Rhodes and grows up hearing stories about Steve’s and Tony’s epic war love story from Aunt Peggy and Uncle Bucky.

Tony goes back in time on 1998. Howard shortly dies afterwards when he finds Tony’s broken machine and smashes the rest in a fit of rage, causing it to explode. Nothing is left of Howard’s body or the machine. Tony goes missing for 11 years."

Howard's fate is left as a bit of a cliffhanger, as I had originally planned to do more with him in his own story. In my mind, this entire thing was going to be 5 parts, with Howard's story being part 5.

This is what I have for that idea:

"Part 5 – Started The Whole World Living - Howard’s story. In it, Howard thinks about his son, as he had figured out who Tony truly was, and what kind of man he grew up with and his thoughts about Steve, who’s practically his son-in-law. When the machine exploded, Howard was transported away to a time in the future where he builds up a small life and witnesses the live feed of the Avengers battle. He sees Steve alive and kicking and fighting along with Bucky and Peggy, like old times. He also sees coverage of Stark Industries celebrating their anniversary of Tony’s official return. Howard looks on proudly, having aged and living in peace knowing Tony is alive and well and safe by the Soldier’s side."

From what I remembered, I wanted Howard to somehow meet Tony before his time runs out. Something that triggers memories to surface for Tony and left him in a raw, emotional state that would cause growth.

That's basically Howard's fate!

(Looking back at my notes, I'm actually surprised with how much I had fleshed out this thing. Crazy 😅)
