Rose Tyler is returning for a new Doctor Who audio spin-off, and she’s bringing along her family and friends…
‘We’ve been building this travel machine, this dimension cannon, so I could… Well, so I could come back. Anyway, suddenly, it started to work and the dimensions started to collapse. Not just in our world, not just in yours, but the whole of reality.’ Rose Tyler - Doctor Who: Journey’s End
Billie Piper is returning to the Doctor Who universe in Rose Tyler: The Dimension Cannon, a new audio series made in association with BBC Studios.
It follows Rose’s journey through dying parallel worlds, and also stars Camille Coduri as Rose’s mum Jackie, Shaun Dingwall as her dad Pete, Mark Benton as alien investigator Clive Finch and Elli Garnett as Caroline Finch.
The four episodes follow Rose’s mission to seek out the Doctor, the only person who can save the doomed multiverse… ‘I love how normal Rose is, and yet really extraordinary,’ says Billie Piper. ‘She lived a normal average life but she is incredibly curious and has an enormous capacity for love and empathy and is really spirited. She is extraordinary.”
‘I approached Russell T Davies with the idea of Big Finish making a Rose Tyler spin-off,’ says producer David Richardson. ‘He was very enthusiastic - as always - and suggested we followed Rose’s journey that ultimately leads to her finding the Doctor in The Stolen Earth. I found the proposal irresistible, and instantly script editor Matt Fitton and I were throwing around ideas. There is a whole multiverse of possibilities. Russell suggested including Jackie and Pete, and embraced my idea of including a parallel universe version of Clive - who of course was killed off in the TV series (in the 2005 episode Rose).
‘Russell guided us gently through the development - steering us towards ideas that worked brilliantly, ensuring things that needed improvement were fixed, and also throwing out the ideas that didn’t work. I’m absolutely delighted with what we have - a family drama about the end of worlds. It’s about love and loss and things that might have been - and our brilliant cast have embraced the emotional scripts.’
The four new adventures are: 1.1 The Endless Night by Jonathan Morris 1.2 The Flood by Lisa McMullin 1.3 Ghost Machines by AK Benedict 1.4 The Last Party on Earth by Matt Fitton
The series has its own distinct tone. Focusing on the era of Russell T Davies, there are no alien threats or villains to defeat. Instead these amazing stories capture and showcase the beautifully rich human characters of Doctor Who…
‘What we have is different to previous iterations,’ says David. ‘It’s rather dark (though never short on wit and charm) but it’s not really about villains. It focuses on the fight to survive against the odds, and on the power of family and love.’
‘That’s the great thing about Doctor Who,’ says Billie. ’It challenges new-thinking. It’s progressive and it can be political in amongst these human emotions and relationships. I think that’s its greatest appeal.’
From the worlds of Doctor Who, Rose Tyler – The Dimension Cannonwill be released in September 2019, available for pre-order now on CD at £25 on CD and £20 on download.

To Live A Better Life (Ten x Rose)
Rating: Teen and up
Chapter: 13/?
Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7Chapter 8 Chapter 9 Chapter 10 Chapter 11 Chapter 12
Summary: Rose Tyler has been the secretary to the CEO of Gallifrey Inc. for nine years, and she’s ready to move on with her life. But when Mr. Smith proposes something less than practical in lieu of her resignation, what will she say?
Read it on AO3 here!
Later that night, after Rose had gone home, John got a call from Jack regarding everything that would be happening with the library opening, and suddenly he felt very overwhelmed by the whole thing.
“You couldn’t call Miss Tyler about this?” He snapped finally, glancing at the clock.  It was just past eleven pm.
“Because she deserves a break and this is your library, John!  If you really want someone to talk to her about it, you could go talk to her!”
“Fine, I’ll drive over there now.”
“Oh, my God, you know that’s not at all what I meant.”
John didn’t listen and instead hung up on his friend, ignoring him when he called him back three separate times.  He got in his car and drove to Rose’s flat, parking on the street and getting out of his car in record time.  He stood on the sidewalk in front of her flat for just a moment, not sure whether or not to actually go in.  He breathed out a sigh and turned back to his car in time to see her walking towards the flat, a shopping bag in her hand and her mobile in the other.  She was reading something on it, scrolling quickly and not paying attention to anyone in front of her.  As she passed him, he laid his hand on her shoulder, causing her to jump and throw her phone.  John reached out and grabbed it out of the air.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you,” he said, handing her phone back to her.
“Mr. Smith, what are you doing here?”

Doctor/Rose + Dancing under the stars (if you are still needing prompts) :D
(Set just after The Stone Rose - the Doctor and Rose have returned the statue of Rose to Gracilis and Marcia’s villa, but they can’t quite escape - in exchange for returning Optatus, Gracilis insists on throwing a banquet in honor of the Doctor and Rose.)The Doctor and Rose swayed comfortably in a light breeze, to the tune of a lyre whose player seemed the only other person in the villa to be awake. It had been nearly a half hour since Gracilis and his wife had bid them good-night - and yet another fifteen minutes since Optatus’ and his friends could be heard softly snoring at the banquet table, and so the Doctor maneuvered them quietly into the courtyard. A clear sky full of stars, and Rose in his arms. It was so very different than the future he’d been imagining just a few days before. Rose, pleasantly full and rather lightheaded from several cups of wine, lifted her head from the Doctor’s shoulder and said the first thing that came to her mind. “You kissed me,” said Rose. The Doctor squeezed her waist. “That I did. Stole a horse, fought off a lion, saved a beautiful damsel from petrifying distress,” here, he tapped her on the nose. “Hercules, who’s he? Make way for the Doctor, I say.” Rose, in response, giggled, and tucked her head back into his neck. “My hero, she breathed. “You think you’re so impressive.”  The Doctor gave a little shudder, and then wrapped his arms around her fully, so that their dance was little more than a standing cuddle. With his right arm wrapped tightly around her waist, he used the other to card through her hair. “Will you kiss me again?” The quiet question took him a moment to answer. He ducked his head, leaning his forehead against her temple, so that he spoke directly into her ear. “Oh, probably,” he says. “Some other night when you haven’t had four cups of wine.” “M’not drunk,” said Rose. She looked up at him, her mouth curved in a pout, and he stuttered, body and mind, scrambling to find a reason not to press her into a nearby stone column. “’Course, course,” he said. “But I am a gentleman, Rose Tyler - “ here she snorted. “And you are -” Home. Beloved. Precious, precious girl. “Your lucky pants,” said Rose, very seriously, and then after a beat, both of them broke into quiet giggles that punctured the night, their noses bumping as they laughed.

I just saw a post that Doomsday and Girl in the Fireplace are tied on IMDB at a 9.3 rating.
Tumblr media
How?  Do people just love to see Rose reduced to a damsel in distress (seriously Rose is just… there in GitF) and the Doctor act so out of character it hurts?
I just… what?
True, Doomsday ripped our hearts out of our chests and ground them into little pieces, but that all comes down to Billie and David just being such amazing actors pouring so much emotion into the role!
And let’s not forget that Moffat just copy pasted Girl in the Fireplace when he wrote the Eleventh Hour just replacing Reniette with Amy…
Just saying.

Same Gingergallifreyan, Different Blog
So, due to technical difficulties, my blog is gone. Vanished. Dusted with a snap. Tumblr cannot restore it.
Which means I have to start from scratch.
Luckily, my fic is all on ao3 and nothing has been lost that way, but I had built a nice little nest for myself over the last four years, and…. sadface. I guess I’m glad I never learned to gif or make edits/manips/digital art, because I would be absolutely devastated.
Anyway, if you see this and wouldn’t mind reblogging, that would be super helpful.

“Firstly, Rose is neither shallow nor stupid. She doesn’t settle for second best. She gets the person she fell in love with. And, as a bonus, he’s now able to spend the rest of his life with her, as she with him. Secondly, the very same person who experienced the heartbreak of losing Rose for the first time now experiences joy at the prospect of a lifetime in her company. In this full sense, the Doctor who lost, finally wins.” - Paul Dawson [From Doctor Who and Philosophy: Bigger on the Inside]

Always reblog 💑
As religious concepts are built up and torn down throughout the Davies years, there are still some things that remain sacred. There is the awe that fills a person up when they witness the beauty and grandeur of the universe in all of its variety, and the unshaking belief that humans can be good. The Doctor reminds people of this continually. And in the Davies years, the Doctor experiences true love for the first time with Rose Tyler. When asked directly, the Doctor proclaims, “I’ve seen fake gods and bad gods and demigods and would-be gods; out of all that, out of that whole pantheon, if I believe in one thing, just one thing, I believe in her!” For a little while it seems that love has become the ultimate power in the Doctor Who universe, yet the ideal of true love keeps a tenuous balance. Rose cannot become his whole world, for ultimate concerns should not be allowed to become fundamental.
ten and rose’s love as the most intense expression of the foundational philosophy of new who aka that the whole POINT is the goodness of every human being and the sacredness of joy and hope……. ladies we’re levitating
