Hey, Peter.

I’ve been recording messages in the Iron Man helmet but it, uh… it only seemed right to leave you one last voicemail. My phone is almost dead and, huh, believe it or not, I don’t have any cell service here in distant space. But I just need to tell some version of you, even just some number in an almost broken phone, a fraction of the million things I can never tell you in person.

I was with you at the end, kiddo, and you spent your last breath apologizing. I needed you to know that you did not had anything to ever be sorry for, but at that moment, I couldn’t get the words out. You were a greater hero than I ever was. And I am sorry, kid, sorry I couldn’t save you. I couldn’t save you or the rest of the universe.

And I want to say I can fix this, to bring you back. But, well. I’m not getting home. I know I’m not. There’s barely enough supplies for the two of us- me and R2D2 here. I’m serious, she looks like something right out of Star Wars. She’s got her quirks but you’d like her. I do. I can imagine worse people to spend my last moments with.

Huh. This is the first time I’ve really said it out loud. But we both know it. I don’t know what happens once I’m gone. I’ve never given it much thought. Live in the moment, right? But now… well, I hope- I pray that whatever happens after, I’ll be with you. I still need to tell you those million things.
