I like to think that the scarecrow wasn't so tall and dense to begin with, but became so after being fixed from the incident with the flying monkeys (it was kind of funny to me).

Also looking to Iron Lumberjack whom's Volkov defines as a munchkin he'd being made after the witch spells on axe incident hella tall, even taller then Urfin Jus who's supposed to be tall being opposite to other munchkins. Then over question was he also this tall or not. Then again if we gonna look at the Scarecrow's clothes they're pretty wide compare to even Emerald City's population. So maybe these clothes were belong to an owner who is or was bigger and wider then other munchkins?
