midwest emo raindrop where rain is doodling on dew’s dusty chucks with the half dead sharpie he keeps in his pocket (and has accidentally washed more than once, oops) dew’s foot resting in rain’s lap, rain’s long fingers wrapped around his ankle and dew can feel the heat of his palm even through the canvas of his high tops and the tip of rain’s thumb is sliding up the leg of dew’s jeans and if dew was more confident he would slide his heel a little closer to rain’s crotch but he’s not so he doesn’t and is actually staying as still as possible paralyzed with fear and this is foreplay for them btw

An Odd Awakening

Dew’s nap gets cut short as he hears music blaring from the living room in the ghouls den.

(this came to me in a dream idk also not beta read so im sorry if there’s mistakes <3)

He's dressed clad in his boxers sprawled out across the bed. The blanket only barely covered his body as he slept peacefully. His arms wrapped around a pillow. His brows furrowed as he stretched, rolling over in the process. A calloused hand comes up to rub his eyes sleepily before he hears it.

He sits up, the blanket falling off him in the process, glancing towards the door. Muffled music is playing from what he assumes is the living room. The bass rattles against the walls. He slowly stands up, letting out a yawn, before grabbing a shirt off the floor and throwing it on. He ran a hand through his sleep-tousled hair as he stumbled out of his room.

The music becomes louder as he shuffles down the hall. As he enters the living room, he sees half of the pack dancing to what seems to be Lady Gaga?

His brows furrowed. He glances towards the kitchen, finding Mountain gingerly sipping at his tea and doing a crossword puzzle. He turns back to the living room, seeing Rain, Phantom and Aurora trying to learn the dance to a song. He rubs his eyes as if this is all some weird dream and that he’ll wake up in his bed peacefully.

Abracadabra by Lady Gaga is blaring at an ungodly volume even for ghouls. They restart the song, for what he can only assume is the 20th time, taking the routine from the top. Aurora runs a hand through her hair before tying it up. Phantom is hunched over, chest heaving as Rain shouts “From the top!” once more.

Dew glances around the room, finding no one else as confused as he is. Aether is sitting on the couch cheering them on like a dance coach from one of the shows he watches. Cumulus and Cirrus are knitting on the love seat, and Haze is half asleep in the armchair.

Dewdrop grumbles something incoherent to himself before making his way towards the kitchen. He starts brewing another pot of coffee before leaning against the cabinet next to Mountain. He watches as the large ghoul seems completely unaware of the others dancing in the living room, pushing his glasses up on his nose as he tries to solve the next riddle. Dewdrop sighs, dramatically tossing his head back in the process.

“How long have they been at it?” he muttered.

Without glancing back at him, Mountain responds as he writes the next answer.

“Since noon, I think? Not sure. Don’t really know what started it,” his voice gravely as he took a sip of his tea.

Dew’s mouth dropped slightly in shock as he stared at the three running through the routine again. He had no idea what the dance was supposed to look like, but it seemed like they were doing it pretty fucking good.

Rain was at the center doing a different routine as Aurora and Phantom mirrored each other on either side of the lanky water ghoul. At some point, Rain was sitting in a chair as the younger ghouls danced beside him.

It went on for a few more minutes until the song ended as Dew stood there in awe. Phantom all but collapsed onto the floor in front of them as Rain and Aurora gave each other a fist bump.

“Was that it? Did we do it?” The ghoul’s voice was muffled as they continued to lay face down onto the floor, wheezing as they tried to catch their breath.

Aether’s eyes crinkled as he tried to maneuver them onto the couch into what he thought would be a more comfortable place to melt into. He ruffled a hand through the younger ghoul’s untamed hair.

“You did it, bug!”

“Thank fuck I didn’t know if I could do it again.” Their chest heaved as they rolled onto their side.

The coffee pot made a noise, signaling that the coffee was now ready to enjoy snapping Dew out of his daze. He reached towards the shelf above the pot, grabbing his favorite mug before filling up a cup.

The others were talking loudly about their achievement as Dew chuckled softly to himself in awe. Mountain hummed to himself as he finally finished the crossword he’d been working on, setting the book off to the side.

Dew made his way over to the couch, settling down next to Aether, trying not to squish the youngest quintessence ghoul who was currently sprawled out behind him. He took a sip of his black coffee, leaning into Aether’s side, sighing contentedly.

Rain and Aurora were both wearing smirks as they turned towards him.

“So when are you gonna join us, Droplet?” Rain gave him a pointed look.

The fire ghoul only rolled his eyes, letting out a groan of faux annoyance, hiding his smile as he took another sip of his coffee

phantom ghoul is the guy ever and deserves was more appreciation not only as a character but as a performer on stage. ESPECIALLY after these last few days.

doing all the crowd work? ATE. playing dews pedals for him bcs of his foot? AAAATE. playing a few bits of lead guitar for dew? AAAAAAAATE. taking over acoustic guitar on top of all that a few times? COOKED.

he is the ghoul ever to exist ever.

im back! that being said i should be more active on here. i might not be posting drabbles and stuff but ill be interacting more!

that being said

my blog is NOT a safe space for people who support jutty taylor. before you ask, yes i am glad that he’s gone. you should ALWAYS believe the victims. it’ll take me a while to separate the character from him so i will not be writing for swiss for the time being (maybe never.). jt’s actions are inexcusable and horrid. if you still want to support him please STAY OFF MY BLOG!

Part 3 of my ghoul designs featuring the air girlies (and Zephyr as a bonus). I've officially made it through the halfway point and now have 4 ghouls left to design for the impera era woo

As usual, headcanons under the cut:

Air Ghouls

I'm taking inspiration from Dante's Inferno because I remember there were harpies in one of the circles of hell. Hence, the bird design.

They're often seen accompanying earth ghouls. In Inferno, harpies feed upon the leaves of souls who turned into trees. Based on this, air ghouls stick around earth ghouls because they care for the plants they use for food and shelter. Air ghouls in return warn earth ghouls of any danger and lead them to resources they could both benefit from. (This doesn't really apply on topside but the ghoulettes still like to hang out with Mountain)

Besides birds, I also wanted to add a butterfly/moth motif to give the characters a more inhuman look. Air ghouls have false eyes to confuse and intimidate other ghouls in the pits

These ghouls, especially those with long hair, have their hair braided by other air ghouls as a social custom (also so hair doesn't get in the way while flying)

Females have dull colors while males are colorful

Cirrus

Sharp features, long wispy hair similar to cirrus clouds

Often has her hair braided by Cumulus when they're on duty

A fast flier and very energetic with her movements

The 2nd in command of her pack

Cumulus

Like the cloud she's named after, she has more softer features than the other ghouls. Don't let that fool you because she's just as aggressive as the others.

A silent flier and not as fast as cirrus

Tends to stare at people with her large round eyes. She likes making people feel uncomfortable with her stares.

Headcanons under the cut:

Quintessence ghouls:

They often have two-toned hair and can be different shades of blue, violet, and gray

There is a slight glow that can be seen from their eyes and mouth, their eye color is the same as their tongue color

They can easily blend in around gargoyle statues as some of the statues in the ministry are inspired/modeled after previously summoned quintessence ghouls

The most "human-passing" among the other ghouls

Phantom:

There was an accident during his and Aurora's summoning ritual due to a build-up of quintessence magic, this caused the right side of his face to become deformed

Because of this, his face is partially frozen so he exaggerates his facial expressions to show his emotions

He makes use of quintessence magic to sense things on his blind side meaning he will know if someone sneaks up on him but lets them surprise him anyway to play along

Aether:

He's not the tallest in the pack but the buffest, he often has tasks in moving equipment and other things

He flicks his ears unconsciously when he's annoyed though it does help him hear things better

At one point, he was very self-conscious about his tooth gap but the others reassured him that he looked fine (Don't ask Dewdrop if he thinks Aether's smile is cute, he is in denial)
