Here's the fic: Green Hills, Clear Skies

It's actually written in the Justice League 2017 universe, and I do have mixed feelings about that version of Barry. He is cute, and I do enjoy him, it's just something about him feels like the writers are making him more incompetent than he actually is?

I thought the premise of the fic was cool, so we'll see how long it takes for me to actually start writing one like that.

They're all upset that Diana brought a man onto the island. So even before Barry actually arrives with her, they've already planned out how to deal with (And possibly kill) the invading man. So they plan out how to counter the expected flirtations, the overly masuline behavior, etc. And then they proceed to be hit with awkward midwestern Barry Allen.

It is pretty realistic to think that the Amazonians will briefly connect to Hermes when they see Barry and his speed. Especially since the wings on his cowl are based on Hermes' wings on his helmet (And Jay Garrick's helmet is literally a recreation of that helmet).

Because Barry doesn't fully believe in his speed coming from a mythical source (Basing it more on the scientific reality of the speedforce), his hesitation regarding their assumptions is accurate. Barry doesn't want to deny or act like their belief in the gods is stupid, so he just goes on the not-a-real-answer route.

It would be so funny if Hermes just showed up like “Oh hey, waddup Barry!”. It’s even funnier if you want to lean into Barry’s skeptical side, because he’ll treat this god like a completely normal guy as if they were old friends. And all the Amazonians are watching, getting their minds blown that apparently this mortal man can actually run faster than the fastest Greek god.

That whole Hermes part is based off another fic where he challenges the different Flashes in a race. Fic here: Hubris (It's really cool)

On the topic of Diana picking him up- uh- yes. The general reaction is 'Man allowing himself to be dominated by woman? Man isn't upset? MAN ENJOYS IT????'. It's made even worse because Diana wants to bring her favorite speedster everywhere, so she'll just grab Barry from whatever he's doing and direct him to the next thing she wants to show him. Everyone else is having a seizure in the background with how easily Barry goes along with everything and matches Diana's enthusiasm.

Magitech is a bit more complicated because I don't know that much about Wonder Woman lore, and it seems to have changed a lot over the years regarding the way the writers have written Themyscira.

I would like it if the Amazonian 'scientists' take a liking to him easier that the others. Barry is really interested in the way their 'science' or technology works, so he listens to what they say, ask good questions that don't demean their intelligence, and he's even willing to share his own knowledge on different subjects to help them! Free info! He's so easy to talk to, and his interest in their magitech would probably mean he spends more time around them.

Once iris gets brought up, it's game over. All of these warrior women get to watch him rant about his amazing wife, in a respectful, loving way. They can all see how much he cares about her just from the way his eyes soften, and the warmth in his words. If they ever meet Iris, they'll see how healthy their relationship is, Iris will also 100% rant about how amazing Barry is too.

I think if they did something close to a lasso check on Barry, it would make Diana really mad that they're treating her friend like that. Honestly the both of them would probably pick up on the animosity the Amazonians feel towards Barry, but they're both willing to work through it.

The Diana moment she sees the interrogation? She is going to be pissed. Because she spent the past - week?- showing them how great of a guy Barry is, and they still act like he has some secret plan? They'll all have a fight, maybe Diana will storm off as well.

Hippolyta would be upset that her daughter is angry at her, and maybe a bit guilty over the assumptions they made about Barry, so she'll go in a corner to sulk. And you might think she and Diana will reconcile after a while, but it's actually Barry who decides to go have a talk with her, and ease her worries too. Maybe it's this heart-to-heart that has Hippolyta actually see Barry as who he is.

AHHHH, I dunno, I have ideas. It's all a jumbled mess in my brain.

This was the fanart that started it all, lol It was inspired by The New Frontier, the part where Diana just picks up Barry and carries him around and it was so cute, I couldn’t pass up the chance to draw it~ I was trying some different coloring styles here, not entirely happy with it but oh well. Okay so this is a fic I'm currently working on. It was birthed from an idea that I came up with in the comments of the work this one was inspired by.

I will be taking a lot of canon material from both the shows and comics, and mash them together to create a plot.

I'm choosing what to keep and what to get rid of basically.

I'm going to have to re-watch S2 to get a good feel about the timeline and all. I'll see once I get round to writing it if I'll expand the au through the next few seasons or just decide to go canon divergence after it.

The thing is that even while Barry is hiding his distrust of 'Jay', he's still going to slip up sometimes because he wants to protect his friends from the villain in disguise.

Barry might see some kind of hole in 'Jay's' story and try to subtly point it out and get the others to see why he's so suspicious. But because they all trust 'Jay', they gang up on Barry demanding to know what he's trying to say. For all they know 'Jay' is a helpful hero from another earth, and Barry is the one being unreasonable.

All of these accusations against Barry, along with his growing independence from needing his team to help him end up creating a wedge between them all.

Team flash don’t really notice the distance Barry is putting between them and him, because most of their focus is on zoom, Harry, and ‘Jay’. But Barry is just in the corner reliving his trauma, overthinking about how his friends never trusted him, etc.

Often times in these kinds of fics, people write Barry getting help from the rouges, but I don't really want to do that in this one because I want to put the emphasis on Barry being a damn competent hero.

Barry ends up relying on Gideon to do a lot of things. She's the only one who really listens to the things he says, and she can give him so much information that might make his investigation go faster.

Zoom probably doesn't end up breaking Barry's back in this because I want to have Barry do some strategic stuff to escape from him. He's quick on his feet, and the central city of earth 1 is far more different compared to earth 2, it's obvious that there will be a lot of hiding spaces Zoom doesn't know about.

Barry will probably try to do his best to subtly keep everyone else he loves away from 'Jay', like making sure his dad wouldn't come near the city, or just not mention Henry at all around 'Jay'.

Barry would also be really hesitant to listen to the opinions 'Jay' gives him, especially regarding speed because of all the weird vibes he gets from him. Barry could justify his hesitance with explaining his experience with Eobard, probably making 'Jay' think his plan is working. (It's really not)

"Barry you should apologize to Jay." Caitlin said, looking at him with a disappointed frown. His fists clenched in frustration for a second, too fast for everyone else in the room to see.

"Look, it's just that I don't want his feedback on how I use my speed against metas.” He didn’t get why they were all siding with a guy they just met, why wouldn’t they believe him? “I mean, don’t you remember how he wanted me to throw lightning at a guy made of sand!? They would’ve died if I did that!”

“He’s been trying to help us, you shouldn’t be so stand offish with him.” Iris cut in, attempting to make him see reason. They were the ones being unreasonable, not trusting him. “I get that you’re not as trusting since the whole man in yellow thing, but he is the one with more experience.”

All Barry could do was grumble with acknowledgement as he turned away from his friends. They seemed to take this as agreement, which he didn’t know how to feel about.

“Jay’s in the speed lab if you want to go talk to him.” Cisco pointed out.

He looked back to see everyone’s expectant looks, even Joe was crossing his arms. “… okay, okay. I'll go talk to him.” He responded, holding his arms up in a placating gesture.

They all nodded in satisfaction, Caitlin send him a grateful smile that made his stomach twist with a mix of discomfort and guilt.

As Barry sped down to the speed lab, he stopped at the entrance, thinking over what he was going to say to the man standing in there. He didn’t care what anyone else said, too many things Jay said and did weren’t adding up.

He took a deep breath before walking inside.

“Heyyy there Jay.”

Jay looked up when Barry entered the lab, the way he reacted almost made it seem like he was expecting Barry to show up. “Oh, hi Barry.”

“Sooo, I just wanted to apologise for uh- accusing you of lying and…” He trailed off towards the end, he didn’t really know what to say to him, Barry couldn’t trust him.

He thought over his words for a moment before letting out a sigh, running his hands through his mussed up hair. “I’m sorry, it’s just last time someone was this interested in my speed, he helped me for months before revealing to have murdered my mom when I was 11.””

Jay tilted his head as he pondered Barry’s apology. Honestly Barry didn’t care what he thought, he was only doing this to make his friends feel better. “It’s fine, I understand. Something similar happened to me too when I was younger.”

Barry’s ears perked up at this new information. “…you do?” He watched carefully as Jay seemed to hesitate over what he was going to say.

“Yeah, uh- my mother actually was murdered as well. So I guess something we have in common huh?”

Barry just nodded, thinking about what he could do with this new information. He had to go to Gideon, add it onto his ‘wall of crazy’ as the AI dubbed his wall covered with information.

“Again, I'm sorry about accusing you. I know everyone else thinks you’re great. Especially Caitlin.” The fact that Caitlin and Jay were developing this relationship left a bad taste on his mouth. He didn’t want his friend to get hurt by this possible villain.

The way Jay perked up at the mention of Caitlin made him want to punch him. “Really?”

“Yeah, I know she was worried when you came down here. Maybe you should check up on her. I know my presence probably wouldn’t make anything better.” And didn’t that hurt.

Jay smiled at him, giving him a pat on the back as he passed him to exit the speed lab.

It really hurt how no one was on his side.

What if Barry pretended to trust ‘Jay’ just to get everyone off his back, so he’s a lot more cautious throughout the season (and probably tries some investigation himself)

Honestly after typing it out I don’t think much of anything would change (except an extremely satisfying “TOLD YOU SO” from Barry after Trajectory which should have happened anyway but that’s a different story Barry blames himself way too much to do that unfortunately) but yeah

No-see I really like this idea!

I swear, the show loves to just make everyone dismiss Barry only for those dismissals to come to bite them in the ass later on.

This is actually why in any aus for the show I think of, I always try to make Barry to be smarter and more observant than he is shown to be. This is partially because he's a fantastic detective in the comics, and the producers put too much focus on the team part of team Flash for my taste.

Not that I don't appreciate the work Cisco, Caitlin, and the others do! It's just they dumb Barry down a lot just so that they can be elevated.

When Barry does use the smarts he has, they're often tossed to the side because he's 'overreacting'. If they do listen to the guy that's throwing himself into danger to save people all the time, the team might notice he's actually really helpful behind the scenes too.

Barry is a CSI, the guy connects dots between crimes as a job, he has to know a lot about different branches of science to be as good of a CSI as he's made out to be. Chemistry, physics, biology, fucking biochem is something he has to be great at!

Barry is capable of so many things that the producers of the show tend to ignore!

Relating to the original point, I think he gets really irritated whenever the team doesn't believe his valid concerns. He might even be reliving what it was like when Joe didn't believe him about his mother's murder! He has got to have developed trauma based on the way no one ever believes him.

So I propose a way for him to go 'HA I'M RIGHT', while also showing off his smarts. It comes in the form of him hiding stuff from his team.

If none of them are willing to listen to him, then he'll just do all of the investigating himself. This way, Barry can use his skills without relying on his team.

With Jay not knowing about Barry's distrust, he is likely to reveal details that show Barry might have ignored, but au Barry zeros in on those tiny slip-ups as fuel for his investigation.

Would love Barry sneaking around and having Gideon help him investigate Jay's DNA since Caitlin won't believe him. He might even stalk the two and hear their conversation about 'Jay's' doppelganger on their earth being named Hunter Zolomon. My boys gonna hold on to that info like a lifeline. When he finds out Jay is a serial killer on Earth 2? TO THE PIPELINE! OFF YOU GO HUNTER! JOKES ON YOU I NEVER TRUSTED YOU!

He's going to feel so validated once he reveals all his research.
