When Jisung was admitted to the country’s premiere university, he was excited to finally be able to make music, real music. He was expecting his experience in the capital city to be exciting, but not this terrifying.

The state has eyes everywhere, and Jisung does his best not to catch them.

My notes:

you don’t need to know anything about stray kids to read this. Wonderfully engaging, and a terrifyingly realistic look into the life and escape of refugees from a totalitarian regime.

2. Gale Song (Series) by tomorrowsrain

Fandom: Marvel Cinematic Universe

Pairing: Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes

Author Summary:

“The past beats inside me like a second heart. These fragments I have shored against my ruins."

In which Tony Stark makes a reckless decision, becomes a wanted fugitive, goes on the run with the former Winter Soldier, and learns how to forgive. For his part, Bucky Barnes is just trying to hold himself together. AU, post-Civil War.

My Notes:

To read this, you need to have an understanding of the captain America and Iron man movies up to civil war. I’d also recommend reading the first work in this series to get the full experience. Beyond that it’s a great fic with compelling, complex explorations of both Bucky and Tony, and is one of the few works I’ve read that doesn’t dehumanize Bucky, and is actually really funny.

Pairing: Ryan Ross/Brendon Urie

Author Summary:

Brendon’s holding something inside of himself. It’s far from his heart; that’s where his favorite songs are kept. What he keeps secret is held in a place that Brendon himself doesn’t even want to try to find. If Brendon couldn’t fight battles, Ryan was more than ready to fight for him.

My Notes:

An oldie but a goodie. Not remotely into Ryden or emo stuff in general but this one still hits hard. No need to know anything about the people to enjoy. Fair warning though, the main plot deals with SA and the story is a fairly tough read because of it

4. All The Angels and The Saints by Speranza

Fandom: Marvel Cinematic Universe

Pairing: Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes

Author Summary:

In which Steve Rogers loses God and finds God and loses God, and also: Bucky.

My Notes:

Really good quality. This is like, exactly what the best of stucky fanfiction should feel like. It hits my soft spot for pre war stucky, and is an excellent character study that actually holds both characters as true to canon, just more developed. The religious imagery throughout is also heartbreakingly powerful.

Fandom: Stray Kids (kpop group)

Parings: no romantic pairing, OT8

Author Summary:

It wasn’t his fault the plan hadn’t gone well. In the end, instead of getting the money delivered to him safely, he had grabbed it from the man’s van and just made a break for it.

Stupid? Yes.

Dangerous? Absolutely.

Did he regret it? Would be decided depending on whether a bullet would burry itself inside of him or not.

“Two rights, and Minho is waiting for you”, Seungmin spoke again, voice tight.

Or: Chan has gathered a group of people to work with the FBI to solve theftst and other white collar crimes. A group full of experts from different areas.

But when they are met with the most important case yet, with three FBI agents already turned up dead, will they be able to solve it?

When something happens to one of their own, will all of them make it out unscathered?

My Notes:

Possibly my personal fanfiction series if we’re going solely by personal bias. This series is so fun and captivating, and is not romance centered at all. The first work in the series BROKE MY HEART, I actually had to skip to the end of the second part just to make sure things ended up okay. It’s still going, and the current work is really good. The relationship between all eight boys is really accurate to their actual dynamic, and the whole thing is just so interesting. Also, no prior knowledge of stray kids is necessary to read .

GUYS…. THIS IS IT………….

As someone who has been scouring Ao3 for just over a decade, I’ve officially compiled a comprehensive list of my top 10 (or 11 hehe) fanfictions of all time. I’m an avid reader, and these stories were better than most books I’ve read. They rocked me to my core, scooped me from the inside out, and reshaped the entire history of my existence from start to finish with how powerful they were. These are, in my opinion, truly some of the peaks of literature in existence today.

1. THIS LIST IS BY NO MEANS COMPLETE

I read so much fanfiction, and I literally have hundreds and hundreds saved across my devices. I can by no means include them all in this list. For this list, I stuck to works that are completed, long and (mostly) multichaptered. There are plenty of one shots that I absolutely adore, and don’t worry, they will have their time to shine in the future, but for this list I had to be SUPER picky

2. THESE ARE MY OPINION

Again, I had a lot of content to choose from, and so I think for the most part I ended up going with my gut instinct and choosing the fics that I’ve routinely thought about and come back to over the years. Fics that were so impactful the first time that I’ve had to come back to reexamine them. Also, different fandoms have different calibers of writing quality, on average. Almost everything I read in the MCU fandom was good enough to be published, and as much as it hurts my heart to include none on this list, it’s simply for the fact that none of them stood out quite as much as other stories. It says nothing about the actual quality of the writing
