So there’s a Brazilian rapper called Emicida and he made a song and a music video to help promote Good Omens here in Brazil. And it turned out really good! So I subtitled it for y’all (sorry if there’s any mistakes, I pulled an all-nighter to do this and I haven’t slept in like 40 hours).

When Maggie opens a Yelp-page for Aziraphale’s bookshop, nobody is prepared for a bunch of conspiracy theorists to find it. Unfortunately they do, and now they’re trying to prove that the shop’s owner must be a vampire, a hypnotist, or even something as outlandish as an angel. It probably doesn’t help that Crowley keeps encouraging them…

But despite that, even the sane parts of the internet seem to be having a blast following the bookshop’s history through war, fire, romance, temporary abandonment, and a tooth-rottingly sweet happy ending – all through the lens of a couple of Yelp reviews.

I've trying to write this post for at least a week however I am trying to approach it with care.

I do think that antizionists jews are not any less jewish for being antizionists. And I am staunchly of the opinion that antizionist jews should be welcome in jewish spaces with open arms.

What the topic I was wanting to speak about was a specific instance of an antizionist jew's poor behavior in a jewish space. I also want to put the disclaimer whilst i hope its common sense, not all antizionist jews are like this and so on and so forth.

Recently an antizionist jew came to a casual non political jewish event, wearing Palestinian flag earrings. I found it in poor taste as it was common knowledge that Israelis and jews who have visited Israel were in attendance, and the host himself is going to Israel soon. But I and everyone else kept an open mind, and tried to include this person.

When it become clear that no one was going bite, and have this heated argument about zionism and Israel, this antizionist jew left the event quietly.

And the reason I want to talk about this, is because it genuinely hurts more when a fellow jew engages in antisemitic behavior than when jews do.

Because that's what it was. Antisemitism.

Firstly because they were trying to turn a Jewish event into a vehicle for you to try to "pwn the zionists"

Secondly because they were trying to make a space intending to be inclusive of all jew, into a space which excluded Israeli jews and other jews

And thirdly because as it was pointed out to me by someone else I talked to about this, that they're likely to go back to whatever antizionist group they are part of, and spin this tale about how a bunch of jews excluded them.

And with that last point, it is simply false that they were excluded because they are antizionist. They weren't even excluded by people, they up and left when no one took their earrings as bait.

People did feel uncomfortable with them, but still made an effort to include them. The reason why they made people uncomfortable is because they tried to turn a non political event political, tried to cause a polarizing argument, and tried to use an event meant to foster community amongst jews who don't usually go to shul or want to hang out with other jews outside of synagogue, into an event where they can try to spin this narrative they have.

And it's just extremely sad and disappointing that they did this

Following a bunch of Jews and allies like I have no idea what these fandoms are or what you're talking about, but at least I can trust that you don't want me dead, or won't cross-examine me to decide if I'm "one of the good ones" or not.
