Musings on Time

Time is a treadmill. You run on it, legs pumping to keep up with its pace. If you stop or slow, you get dragged back. You lose ground as the constantly rolling track keeps running. The speed can vary but never fully stops. But, try as you might, sprint as fast as you can, you can never outrun it. All you can do is struggle to keep up. Ever moving, inexorably towards a destination you will never reach. Eventually, you'll have to stop, but Time won't.

Time marches on.

Time is a mirage. An illusory oasis in a desert, surrounded by dunes and beset by sandstorms; all the things you have to do. Your job, the chores, obligations, the tiny grains of silica that fill the hourglass of your life, slipping through the pinch between the bulbs. You see the mirage of Time and it is Free. Free time you can call your own. Time you can have away from the abrasive desert of everyday. Time to breath, to relax, have a swim, or a drink under the shade of a palm tree. You wade through the desert towards the promise of Time, only to find more sand.

About DRAGONS in my world.

Dragons are reptilian, fire breathing creatures that come in different shapes and sizes. They are all inherently magical and intelligent, but animalistic and dangerous.

Dragons are greedy and known for keeping hoards of treasure. Most commonly this is minerals and metals or some form of currency, but some will gather other items, or even people, if they see any worth in them.

Most dragons are omnivores and carnivores. Very few are herbivores.

They are spread out all over the world. Different species living in every type of habitat, in every type of climate. Most commonly in forests, mountains, caves and deserts. They always make their nests far away from people, in secluded areas.

There’s seven types of dragons:

Dragon, Wyvern, Amphithere, Wyrm, Lindwurm, Lung dragon, and Drake. 

These are all considered dragons, just different types. There are many species of dragon that can be sorted into the different types. Most common ones are red, green, blue, yellow, black, and white. Rarer ones are bronze, silver, gold, and platinum. (Bigger pic)

For example: Norael is a species of Blue Mountain Drake, which is a type of Drake. There are also a couple of sub-types, listed here below. Sub-types are unique types of dragons, usually mixed in with some other creature or the result of a mutation.

Over the last month or so, I've had more than one friend ask me, "How do you stay so calm?" or has commented on how easy-going I am. I feel like most people think I'm like that; relaxed, unphased, chill.

Good.

That's what I want to project because if the screaming inside my head leaked out, the decibels would deafen. Life, for almost everyone, is hard at times, but the last year and a half for me and mine has been a seemingly ceaseless marathon of bullshit. There's an unending number of things to do, take care of, and think about. I'm like a duck on the water; steady and smooth, but under the surface, I'm not only paddling furiously but also knitting a sweater, playing Texas hold 'em, and painting a mural. With webbed feet, mind you, and frequently doing it poorly. Existing is exhausting, but it beats the alternative, so I Just. Keep. Going. I'm gonna keep going until I've run out of go. And then I'll keep going still because the show must go on and this is my part. I can't break character.
