okay new headcanon that’s probably already been written

max and el are the first people to find out about steve and eddies relationship when they’re having a sleepover at max’s trailer. they’re doing that mind thing where they spin the bottle and it lands on steve. they find it weird when they see that he’s at eddies trailer, but what’s even weirder is the smile that he’s got when eddie’s talking to him. they get to see steve being all domestic and shit and unfortunately they get the see them begin to make out.

el panics as she feels like she’s intruding and rips off her blindfold. max obviously behind to panic because this feels all too familiar, but el begins to manically laugh and informs max on what she saw. they both rush to the window facing eddies trailer and stay there for what feels like hours waiting to see steve leave.

Steve: Did you eat your breakfast?

Eddie: That’s not on the checklist.

small little idea for season 5

so steve was bitten by the bats and survived right. but what if being bitten by an upside down creature connects you to a pint where you have some type of powers/visions? i imagine steve to start having specific hallucinations of eddie alive in the upside down (kind of like alex in final destination where he saw reflections and stuff). steve becomes paranoid and decides to go and see el, asking her to do her little bathtub trick to zone in on eddie and see if he’s alive. she finds him in the upside down with vecna as kas (go on twitter if you haven’t seen these theories they’re insane) and intends to go down and rescue him. he makes el promise not to tell ANYONE where he is and that eddies ‘alive’ because he doesn’t want anyone following him or getting their hopes up about eddie.

this leads to steve going on a long, painful trek through the upside down and has to fight eddie to ultimately save him from vecna’s spell so they can betray him (similarly to how kas in d&d canon kills vecna)

okay, i need to convince myself that eddie and steve don’t die this season because i’m on the verge of tears every time i think of them dying so here’s why i don’t think they’ll die

- in the trailer for vol 2, it seems pretty clear that dustin is calling eddies name. he sounds pretty distressed which is of course worrying, but surely the duffers wouldn’t include that in the trailer if it was a death scene? like that’s a major spoiler and doesn’t seem well planned out.

- joe keery’s interview where he says that season 1 steve would be accepting of season 4 steve (whilst looking at joseph quinn). if this isn’t about steve having a crush on eddie, which i personally believe can only be properly established if they both SURVIVE, then i will sue.

- it would be incredibly homophobic and upsetting for me so <3

how eddie could return (completely delusional but let a girl dream)

so, eddie ‘died’ in the upside down, but maybe he didn’t fully die. i’m not scientist so this won’t be accurate (but yk, anything can happen in st) but maybe his body went into shock or something. then he could still be alive.

but my next idea leading on from this is that someone (not sure who, not one of the main gang but someone random) is also stuck in the upside down (maybe the man that notified jason’s friends that the party was at the creel house) and helped eddie back to health.

once eddie gets a bit better and is surviving, the other guy fucks off (i have no emotional connection to this new character, i just need someone to nurse him back to health yk) and then eddie uses the lights in steve’s house to alert them all that he’s alive, by using the same sos code that only the fruity four know he knows how to do.

this therefore leads to steve desperately trying to save eddie, and makes him his top priority. after a bunch of shit, eddie makes it out and steve and eddie share some nice romantic/grateful moments.

now we have steddie.

* contrary to popular belief, steve actually tells dustin about his crush on eddie before he tells robin

* it was kind of on accident, he blurted it out after yet ANOTHER rant from dustin about why he should be with robin

* dustin sits there for a while in shock - steve is shitting himself

* but dustin regains consciousness and decides to push them together (with steve’s knowledge)

* fast forward to the party sitting in the wheeler’s basement, and dustin is hyping steve up quietly on the sofa to go and flirt with eddie

* steve’s a nervous wreck, and looks it

* but he does it anyway because he’s supposed to be good at this

* robin is then in on it as she witnessed the shambolic performance from sir steve harrington, but still earns a blush and a laugh from eddie.

i disagree with the hc that eddie constantly makes fun of steve’s music taste, i actually think he’d act the opposite way

eddie KNOWS that having someone make fun of your hobbies and the things you enjoy sucks, and having someone pick on your hyper fixations can hurt you. he’s been somewhat b*llied by people at his school for his taste in music and his clothes, so why would he be like that to steve?

i personally see eddie as instead of telling steve that he thinks a certain song is shit etc, he’d compliment a song that he likes from steve’s tapes. it’d make steve feel all fuzzy and warm.

feel free to disagree but i just don’t see eddie as being like that.

p.s. i also hc eddie as enjoying all types of music, and having a really nice, calming singing voice (idk why but i imagine he sounds like charlie puth 💀). he sees music as a genuine form of art and respects all musicians, but he finds metal to be his favourite because people seem to be the most unique and themselves.

YESSS it’s really important that authors can recognise that certain subjects in their books can’t just be ‘written’ you need to carefully think about what you’re putting out there.

can i just say how much i appreciate the fact that rick is co-writing the nico book instead of being the sole author? like he’s recognizing that no matter how good of an ally he is, he is a straight cis white man who (presumably but correct me if i’m wrong) has not had any major trauma in his life comparable to nico. it makes me so excited for this book because that was the very first thing i was nervous about. :)
