I do think people should reblog and comment on fan works more, as a person who occasionally posts stuff I’ve put hark work into I greatly prefer getting more feedback, but I also think saying “you HAVE to comment and reblog EVERYTHING you like or you, personally, will kill people’s creative drive en masse and make them leave fandom” is like. the worst possible way ever to encourage it for all involved.
#i'm a chronic liker#i use tumblr passively now and there's a few reasons for that#it's fine if someone thinks that's wrong but i was a content-maker myself#like for several blogs#it's different now i get that#but also#i see a few people being extremely aggressive or straight up rude about this#and idk about others but i am unlikely to engage in any way bc of that#not as a punishment#but because if they only want reblogs or will attack me for liking i feel it's best to leave it alone#there are a lot of reasons why things don't do well#there are talented folk who get their work passed on#and that's not fair#and it will eventually lead to a lack of content from that user#but some ppl i followed were so hostile about 'people only liking' as if they had personally attacked their mother or something#btw. all engagement does make a difference algorithmically
