Let me highlight the best parts for you.

Going one step further and taking liberties, you mean like FUCKING YOUR BOSS SENSELESS?? 'Coz yeah, that's about right, no other Golzine right-hand man ever did that before. Definitely a special bond and most definitely going beyond the professional here.

I was afraid that I was not gonna love Laurie as much as I loved Nathaniel. And while it is true that no character can ever fully replace Nathaniel in my heart, Laurie’s calm manners and quiet assertiveness have patiently dug a place for him. I no longer fear not being invested enough in his character development. He is my new pet.

In particular, his duo with Erik is one of my favorites yet. Their relationship extends way beyond the professional.  They have common interests and hobbies, went through the same loss, and now have a common goal. They share a very special bond. If Seth did not mince his words with Nathaniel, Erik goes one step further with Laurie and takes some liberties none of the Golzine right-hand men ever took before. 

I can’t wait to unfold and share their story with you.

What uncommon/common fear do they have?

Romeo is still traumatized by his father so he will always be scared of being "exposed" (as a fraud, as a gay man or as a pushover).

Do they have any pet peeves?

He is a pretty tolerant and patient person, but he can't stand queue-jumping. That, and weak coffee.

What are 3 items you can find in their bedroom?

Novels, vintage posters and shoe polish.

What do they notice first in a person?

If their smile is fake or real.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how high is their pain tolerance?

He's got a pretty high pain tolerance, but he doesn't realize it. Pain he would rate as 5 would actually be 8 for most people. He seriously underestimates his own suffering.

Do they go into fight or flight mode when under pressure?

He is not a fighter. He will fight if he has to, but his first instinct is to run away.

Do they come from a big family/are they a family person?

Loaded question for him. He is an only son and he loves his mom (even if she's "not quite there" sometimes). But his father gave him so many trauma, he's not sure he could be a good father to little Vin. He definitely wants to try though, even if they are not a typical family.

What animal represents them best?

A sheep. In the Chinese Zodiac, 羊 is an animal that shares a lot of common traits with him (mild-mannered and gentle but also wary and anxious). However, it can also be translated as ram or goat... a horned animal. You could say that Romeo has hidden horns.

What is a smell that they dislike?

The cologne his father used to wear. That smell will always be associated with fear.

Have they broken any bones?

Broken leg when he was a kid, and broken ribs because of his father...

How would a stranger likely describe them?

Unassuming and well put together. Seems to think more than he says.

Are they a night owl or a morning bird?

Neither. He just tries to get enough sleep.

What is a flavor they hate and a flavor they love?

He doesn't like radicchio, and he loves anything with lemon in it.

Do they have any hobbies?

Making limoncello, winetasting and collecting vintage posters. Oh, and cooking!

Boom, surprise birthday party! How do they react to surprises?

He'd be very moved if it comes from people he is close to. No one ever threw him a party or gave him a surprise gift.

Do they like to wear jewelry?

He used to wear a wedding ring but not anymore. As a whole, he doesn't like jewelry, he thinks it's gaudy.

Do they have neat or messy handwriting?

His handwriting is a narrow but legible scrawl.

What are two emotions they feel the most?

Guilt and shame.

Do they have a favorite fabric?

Linen. If only it weren't so easily crumpled!

What kind of accent do they have?

Italian, naturalmente.

What uncommon/common fear do they have?

Public disgrace. She's very attached to her reputation and the way she's perceived. If people saw her as someone unreliable or worse, unethical, she would die of shame.

Do they have any pet peeves?

Self-entitlement and machismo.

What are 3 items you can find in their bedroom?

Figurines, video games and her bulky, wide frame glasses.

What do they notice first in a person?

The way they move and take up space.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how high is their pain tolerance?

Anh is quite sensitive but she's also determined not to show that she's in pain. I'd say it's a 7.

Do they go into fight or flight mode when under pressure?

Anh will FIGHT. Not to say that she's not scared, but if you pressurize her, her response will always be to defend herself.

Do they come from a big family/are they a family person?

She's not close to her mom (Fei is quite the opposite of whom Anh wants to be), and she's not particularly maternal or caring. But she's very close both to her dad and her sister, the first on an intellectual level and the second on an emotional level. The notion of 'family' is important to her, but she sees it more as a duty than as a support system.

What animal represents them best?

Anh is a hedgehog. Showing her spikes when teased, but actually cute and lovable once you get to know her.

What is a smell that they dislike?

She's disgusted by any body odor.

Have they broken any bones?

Nope. Hopefully that won't happen.

Uptight and not accommodating. Seems smart but putting on airs.

Are they a night owl or a morning bird?

All members of the Wong family are early birds out of habit.

What is a flavor they hate and a flavor they love?

She's not a fan of acidic food and she's got a sweet tooth.

Do they have any hobbies?

She's a bit of a geek, so: video games, manga and anime. :) And birds. She loves birds and knows how to care for them.

No one would throw her a surprise birthday party. Seriously. She's not close enough to anyone besides her sister. Who would even be invited?

Do they like to wear jewelry?

She's got plain pearl earrings that she wears almost all the time. And cute, flower earrings for special occasions. She loves them but won't wear them too often because she doesn't want to be seen as girly.

Do they have neat or messy handwriting?

As expected, she's got a precise, clear handwriting. ;)

What are two emotions they feel the most?

Annoyance and determination.

Do they have a favorite fabric?

Not particularly, but it needs to be breathable.

What kind of accent do they have?

I love daydreaming about my OCs and I can come up with a thousand little details about them. I also love integrating those details into my story whenever possible. But the game is sometimes limiting and I can't show everything that I'd like to show, that's why I'm so grateful for OC asks: I get the chance to mention all those things that make up my characters and that would never get mentioned otherwise.

(I'm writing a whole essay again, I'll try to make it short)

So here are a few facts from previous character development questions/oc asks in which I've mentioned a detail that was simply never mentioned or shown in the story, directly or indirectly. :)

Nathaniel: drives too fast and gets speeding tickets. Would have liked to be a piano teacher.

Theo: got the 'heart of stone' lifetime reward. Likes Carmina Burana.

Ralph: was an alcoholic at some point. [NB: that's actually more or less induced in the very first scene in which he appears, which is in a watering hole] Listens to country music. Likes to sniff Pippa's belongings (like a dog!).

Sam: is a fan of Lily Allen. Has a husky voice. Tried to make latte art but failed. Uses "moron" a lot. Is a spendthrift.

Noah: was supposed to become a gigolo in my original storyline for him. Is a repressed Borderline.

Ash: actually strongly autistic-coded. He described love as being (I quote) "a four-leaf clover". Forgets pens everywhere he goes.

Uli: is scared of pigeons.

Ivy: her mother died of cancer when she was a baby. Is scared of old age and her body failing her. Likes sex toys.

Seth: the car he repaired at some point in the story was bought by Yu Wong (Anh's grandmother). His greatest fear was that Erik would suffer from something he's done. Doesn't like people touching him (except his wife).

Tristan: his rings are signet rings (the one on his thumb bears his family crest, the one on his little finger has a rather unidentifiable gemstone coming from his mother). Met in person King Louis XIV of France, Bach and Charlie Chaplin.

Laurie: his favorite drink is Gin & Tonic. Has a Discord account.

Anh: loves mooncakes. Watches anime.

Eloise: doesn't like video games. Loves the holiday season and listening to Tristan playing the piano.

Erik: is a fan of Deadpool and Wolverine. Loves the smell of gasoline and cinnamon.

Romeo: went by Federico in gay bars. Would like to adopt a cat. Is an excellent swimmer.

Jamie: dips his chip back into the salsa after taking a bite. Doesn’t call ahead when he’s late. Chews on his fingernails.

Omar: loves pistachios and Candy Crush.

Update + question

The next update won't be ready for a while, I'm afraid. I've tried shooting this weekend but ended up spending all of my time solving an issue I had (apparently due to a mod, so hopefully definitely solved). After that, I had no energy left for actual shooting. It doesn't help that I'm not 100% sure what I want the next scene to be about.

Maybe I need a break, and I could turn to other characters, unrelated to the main plot. I'll see if it inspires me more.

While we wait, I was wondering if you would be interested in some Character Focus? I used to do that years ago (see tag here), it's kind of a summary of a character's life so far, from when they first appeared in the story up to now and including the most salient facts about them. It allows you to get an immediate overview of how they integrate into the plot. I would do it differently this time, avoiding big chunks of text and with actual snippets from the story. Question to you is: who would you like me to do a character focus on (if any)? I would do a poll but I have too many characters to choose from. :D

Erik's favorite swearword comes up really often in his speech. It was even one of his first words when he appeared in the story as a young adult! The horse riding scenes in Egypt was particularly loaded in goddammits because he was so frustrated (and scared of horses, but shhh). xD

In addition to the 6 occurrences already listed in this post, here are some more goddammits for your reading pleasure!

He also occasionally says "damn" and "damn it", but I have excluded those for being too far from the original. :D
