Throughout the day Cirrus pondered many things.
As she sat waiting she gazed down a side path leading to a bluff. She watched the birds take off from the edge.
She couldn't fly.. but maybe you should try. Her voice spoke internally.
She was drawn from the moment by a whistle. Time to move on.
As they carried on Cirrus ignored the warnings from her crew to slow down. She didn't care. She felt her boiler rock on the curves but it didn't matter.
A song she'd overheard a friend listening to echoed through her mind.
Speeding down the freeway I've been driving way too fast. Swerve round the corner and I'm hoping that I crash.
As always her frame held firm. All 14 wheels flat to the rails. Not even a slip.
When the day was done and it was time to rest she had crawled away to sit atop the viaduct.
She had heard stories of it swaying and cracking under the weight of engines. A couple even falling off. Today, however, despite her mass, not even a creak.

Had art block so did a challenge of eye close ups
All le train OCs
Cirrus has big pupils and with her tapetum lucidum has a red tint most of the time. When light is shined at her they'll look bright red. Night vision yay.
Hazy has mostly normal eyes just dark making them look bigger. Well her one eye.
Bug has bigger pupils like Cirrus but a slightly visible iris. She has reflective eyes too but not as intensely as Cirrus. If you point a light at her they'll reflect white like a deer.
Mist is the closest to normal eyes lol
Idk I like assigning headcanons that engines have different facial features based on the environment they're built for.
Like Bug also has bigger lashes but is used in very dusty areas. Thus extra eye protection

*Hazy waddling up*: "Can I have a glass eye?"
Victor: "you dont even have an eye socket left to put it in. "
Hazy: "oh...." *glues a googly eye to her eyepatch*
Morgan: sir Handel? Do you think maybe I could try your glass eyes out for a bit? Just so I know what it might feel like if I decide to get a pair.
Sir Handel: of course, *pops his glass eye out, spits on it, wipes it off with his coat and hands it to morgan* here,
Morgan: *pops it in* thank you
Victor: *looks on in shear disgust*

*Cirrus storms through the steamworks doors to crash the party*
She'd be the type of person to say such offhanded out of whack things intentionally trying to make the therapist squirm.
Viktor: what do you want
Cirrus: to watch the tracks run red with the blood of all who have crossed me
Then to die in a massive explosion that takes all my enemies with me
Everyone else in the steamworks: *fear*
Recently victor has taken up an interest in human psychology. He’s one of the few engines who is fully literate and his driver has bought him a collection of psychology books for him to read. Kevin turns the pages for Victor while he reads.
Victor hopes that his knowledge of human psychology can be applied to engines since engine psychology is pretty nonexistent and not understood. They are machines after all with different wants and needs than humans. Like I explained in a previous post, treating engines suffering from a mental illness is near impossible since they don’t have the “biological” parts like humans, so medication is right out of the question.
Victor started his therapy sessions after Donald purposely smashed his buffers in order to be with his brother who was in the works getting his coupling rods replaced. Later, Oliver was taken in while experiencing a complete mental breakdown and word spread about Victor’s therapy sessions.
Needless to say that victor is a really good therapist.

Its me again, I thought I sent this ask but alas I did not.
Oc question: how did Cirrus get her scars? I know they become more prominent the worse her mind gets, ( i found that by digging through all your posts about her...I have no life) but how did they get there?
From the show so far, take James for example, he crashes for the 564654th time and his face is A-ok. Which suggests that facial wounds are rare, as I HC.
I also wonder, do you head canon engine faces as too strong to be scarred, Or are facial wounds more common and just don't stay except when an engine is acutely distressed?
It did send your first ask. I got both lol
Cirrus's scars are more or less wear and tear marks, hence why they're not real deep. A lot of repeated hits from stuff over hanging the tracks cause she's ridiculously tall worsened by the lack of care of her later years in the scrapyard.
I headcanon most scars will fade on an engine. Like their faces are way tougher than ours and can heal a lot quicker and recover from more severe damage than a human would.
But as Cirrus's mental health faltered her regeneration abilities weakened causing marks to last longer and finally form permanent scars but it was a long process.
Unlike Hazy who had half her face nearly blown off. But that's a different story.

Also still occasionally doing these
I'm also doing requests for doodles while I'm on lunch break
Can be a canon character or send a ref of an OC
Mostly in an engine drawing phase rn but can draw Mecha and animals
Not good at but will try humanoid

Why I headcanon Cirrus as a nonbinary oc despite going by she/her
Cirrus goes by she/her but it holds an entirely different meaning to an engine than it does to a human.
It's not an identity it's a title to her. She has no gender. The only reason she goes by she/her is because of the tradition to refer to heavy machinery by female pronouns.
For humans feminity always seems to circle back to sexuality but towards an engine it's a synonym for beautiful or fascinating.
Calling Cirrus female was a way the workers showed they thought she was amazing to watch work. A durable powerful brute force that fascinated the human mind. They decided she was too much to merely be an object thus they deemed her a well her.
So I consider Cirrus nonbinary cause she has no connection to gender and her pronouns are more like a compliment than a gender identity

And now I whine about identity crisis and sexuality
I know Im asexual. Known that for awhile. Probably tied to the autism. My brain just does not do the chemical reaction that makes people attracted.
Like I can say a person is pretty but to me a person looking pretty is no different than looking at a pretty cat or car or painting.
The nonbinary aspect im undetermined on.
I dont hate being female..ok that was I lie I absolutely do but idk if it's really dysphoria or just I hate the social pressures of it.
I dont like shaving. I wish I was more physically strong rather than sleek.
I hate that the female body is only pretty in a sexual way. There's nothing special about the female body men don't have better that doesnt have to do with child bearing.
I also theorize that's another reason I like tattoos so much is because it gives my body a different purpose. It's pretty as in being a canvas for art rather than just being an object for reproduction.
Idk I like dresses but I hate the requirements or meaning of feminine beauty. Being a sex repulsed ace it bugs me immensely that my body's seemingly only natural purpose is child bearing.
Time for more tattoos jk
I wasn't going to do a pride icon but I did.. so.. :p

Thinking about the fact Cirrus could've known Phillip when she was still in service.
Their lines overlapped and Cirrus was one of the longest running steam engines and was still going into the 60s.
They might not know each other on a name basis but could have seen each other.
Thinking maybe like Phillip remembers her a bit but not enough to recognize her when she reaches sodor.
Like maybe in her younger years she left an impression but after her years in the boneyard due to deteriorating mental health her personality has drastically changed and he might not be able to put two and two together and realize she's the same engine.
He'd be like, "I remember seeing an engine who looked similar to you."
And she'd be like, "oh really..."

I might be having heart issues. Yippee. I finally overdid it. Non-stop racing but despite that it always feels cold. Like my arms and everything can be warm, but my chest feels like it's chilled.
As well as exhausted all the time
Oh joy

"She's dangerous"
"She's just an engine."
"She's not like the others. She's mad."
"Other engines get angry."
"That's not it and you know it. Other engines get frustrated or upset. She hates."
"She's just been through a lot. She did come from a scrapyard."
"Maybe there's a reason she was there."
"She's old? The other engines are bitter about being replaced. Why does this surprise you?"
"She doesn't hate the new engines. She hates US. She doesn't blame the new engines for what happened. She blames humanity. She hates people! An engine has never done that before."
An argument on whether or not to keep Cirrus around with her bitter attitude towards humans and lack of motivation to work.
