Sunday and I needed some rocking music to go in the background while I do house cleaning and I chose Foo Fighters 4th studio album ONE BY ONE (2002). This would be the first album with lead guitarist Chris Shiflett joining the band. Featured track within this album All My Life, Have It All, Times Like These, Low. Saturday and I needed some positive 80s rock music and I've dug out Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force 'Odyssey' (1988). The 4th studio album by the Swedish guitar virtuoso Yngwie Malmsteen. Overall this is one rocking album especially hearing the riff work by Malmsteen. Glad to have this record in my collection! The record also features vocalist Joe Lynn Turner most known for his time with the band Rainbow and his short time with Yngwie Malmsteen & Deep Purple. The album also features brothers Jens & Anders Johansson which come from the same home country as Malmsteen. Jens on keyboards giving that touch of neoclassical metal to this album. Currently he plays for power metal band Stratovarius. His brother Anders on drums known for his time with Swedish metal band Hammerfall. Friday night and before I met up with a couple of friends for dinner I decided to stop by this record store and dig through the entire store. I've picked up 3 records AC/DC's 'Black Ice' (2008), Deep Purple's most recent album 'Now What?!' (2013) and my very first Ted Nugent album into my collection starting off with a compilation record 'Great Gonzo!: The Best of Ted Nugent'. Have a great weekend everyone! Thursday night and I dug out Deep Purple's 'Made in Japan' record which is a double live album recorded during their first Japan tour back in 1972. Featuring tracks such as 'Highway Star', 'Child in Time', 'Smoke on the Water'. Between the years 1969-1973 & 1984-1989 Deep Purple's band members featured legendary guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Gillan on vocals, Roger Glover on bass, Jon Lord on organ/piano and Ian Paice on drums. The line up was also known as The Mark II 'Classic Lineup'. Recording their most popular albums 'Deep Purple in Rock' (1970), 'Fireball' (1971), 'Machine Head' (1972), 'Who Do We Think We Are' (1973) and their classic lineup comeback album 'Perfect Strangers' (1984). Throughout the years the band went through some member changes but the lineup within this live album was by far the best. They all fitted so well together, creating music that made them the pioneers of hard rock and heavy metal were they would influence other bands such as Metallica, Judas Priest, Queen, Aerosmith, Van Halen, Alice in Chains, Pantera, Rush, Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard. Overall the sound quality of the live performances are mint! And listening through many live albums from the 70s & 80s still amazes me how clear it sounds.
