Nu-Skool Rejektz In 2015 when Mpho “Amu” Mabasa was in his graduation year at A.F.D.A, things were looking grim. He wasn’t happy with the future in realising that this media industry is self-driven and one has to create their own work, employment is very difficult to find and you need to know people in order to get a job. It was time for him to create his own opportunity, he decided to persue what made him want to study film and television production in the first place. He decided there and then he will start his Stand-Up Comedy Career. He has been working on this dream since 2011. He formed “Nu-Skool Rejektz” a group responsible for creating original comedy content. Only equiped with a laptop and a 2008 JVC AVHD Camera, he would have to use these sources to get his comedy career off the ground, from creating Meme Videos and doing shows accors the city of Johannesburg. It had a rough start, he decided to start hitting the stage in 2016 and since then has not looked back. There are some hic-ups but he stayed true to his vision to get the comedy career off the ground with the help of his good friends Zinto, Boogey and Kusta. Nu-Skool Rejektz applies to Mpho’s life as an outcast in most cases since childhood and he has grown proud of it, a different group still finding its unique voice.
