This might be my favorite little glimmerspirit. 🌿✨

I should make one that is cooking something over the fire. I suppose, something very small suitable for their size. But all the little animals and insects I think of, I feel bad for 😅 So it might have to be plant based, hmm... 🍓🍄🌼 What does a glimmer eat?

A couple more little spirits or väsen or glimmers or glimpses or skymt... Their names are still a work in progress 😁

What would you call them in your language, if you saw them out in nature? 🌿

"Väsen" means something close to spirit or being, in Swedish. That is broad, and finding a more specific word would be nice. Something that captures the image I have in my mind of watching the glittering water when something that seems like a dragonfly flutters by. But was it really a dragonfly? I could swear it looked like a little plum with wings! 😋

They make me want to re-read Kerstin Ekmans "Urminnes Tecken"! In that book there is a character named Skymt and one named Sjorhpa. I always loved those names. Skymt means, in swedish, (catching a) glimpse (of something), basically. That could maybe be a perfect name for my little spirits, but might not work in plural and in english...

A small sculpted stoneware ceramics dish with intricate details and crackled glass to imitate water – intended as trinket/jewelry display or as a tea light holder. I'm just very happy to have come up with another idea where I could incorporate tadpoles. Love those little fellas! 😄🐸

I would really like to make more of these little spirits/väsen! The stoneware clay I use now is not optimal though, for such small and intricate details - I think porcelain clay is the solution and could help me level up these tiny sculptures. It is more costly though.

I made the handle extra wide and comfy to hold.

And the round form feels really cozy in the hands.

It holds ca 460ml (15.6 oz) of your preferred liquid.

Glossy white on the inside. It's nice because you can see your drink better (compared to a dark glaze).

Some glazing hocuspocus 🪄

You know when you’re at the edge of a lake just staring at some glittering water and right when you thought you saw the shape of a bright little creature amongst the sparkles, a horsefly comes zooming in circles around your head ruining the moment?

Or you are on your knees amongst mossy rocks, busy taking a closeup pic of a really cool plant, when you hear a rustle in some leaves and you think you see a tiny bright person in the corner of your eye but then you have to swat away a mosquito trying to steal the blood of your forehead, so when you look over the creature is gone?

Those little creatures may or may not be shaped like these.

Who knows what to call them? Wisps? Sprites? Irrbloss? Älvor? Fae? De små? Just spirits of nature?

Last weekend I had a short visit to the cabin.

I thought I should take a walk to the lake, but I was feeling lazy and kind of unmotivated. Almost falling asleep in an armchair I snapped myself out of it, put on my rubber boots (that is a direct translation from swedish) and went out on a short walk.

And im so glad I did because I had the ”I almost forgot this is what its all about” feeling - looking closely there are so many peculiar little forms of life. Moss and glittering water refilled my cup for a while 💚

Hope you can feel a little bit of that from this video, or better yet go out for a walk and look closely - even if you live in the city Im sure there is some life growing somewhere that you never noticed before 🤓

I might have one or two in a corner somewhere that need to be re-fired, but besides those, there will be no more of these slipcast gourd mugs - this first wonky mold I made taught me a lot with all the mistakes I made 😄 Thank you all who adopted these SlipGourdFirst mugs 🙏💚

But before I said goodbye to this mold, I had to cast a few half-pumpkins - I just filled half of the mold to make some shorter smaller non-lidded mugs/cups. I will be glazing those halfies, and a couple of completely ✨new✨ gourds this week :}

Just in time for "The great moose migration" stream, I made stickers! \o/

I drew these moose inspired by said livestream as well as the moose petroglyphs at Nämforsen (Näsåker, Sweden).

A handbuilt stoneware ceramic gourd mug 🎃🌿 (Sold)

This mug had an uncertain start in life, but it turned out fine in the end! After re-firing it once it still had some mysterious quirks, like the beading of the glaze on the handle - but maybe that is just a part of it's fashion sense. On the inside the glaze behaved exemplary.
