definitely would take any "leaks" like that with a grain of salt but we do know they've confirmed they'll be exploring their relationship more so hey maybe??? also him developing deeper feelings for her while not fully understanding them? that tracks. I think Kie's feelings would have to be slower to develop considering the body's not even cold

Is it just me who remembers when the Pates between s2 and s3 were hinting at a blueridge (wilderness therapy place) spin off with kie finding the brochure. There was even a promo with Rafe in it (which was weird in of itself because he's over 18 making me think if they were gonna making him like a camp councillors). The promo kinda looked like a reality show tho. Anyway I kinda would've like to see it it was around the time when there were a lot of new articles written about how unethical those places were. I kinda wish the s2 ending was different so they could incorporated it in s3 and kie would spend longer there. Any way shoulda coulda woulda.

I’m rewatching Obx with my family and we just got to 3x01. I swear the moment Kiara and Rafe stepped on screen together they were immediately like oh what’s going on here with zero prompting from me. I was like right?

I knew I wasn’t crazy but it was nice to have it confirmed 🤭 (which is why when Kiarafe anti’s insist that they have no chemistry it’s like bffr even casual fans who don’t give a fuck about this either way are sensing a vibe between them it’s there)

i swear the barbados villa scene was a preemptive apology for the absolute plane crash (no pun intended) that was the rest of s3… and i accept!

Okay, rant incoming!

I’m not happy with the direction they’re taking with Rafe. From the beginning, he had a clear pattern of behavior: he was deeply troubled, struggling with family issues, self-esteem problems, and serious mental health struggles. His instability was a core part of his character. And while I understand that he managed to get clean and that his mental health has improved significantly, I can’t help but feel like we missed a huge part of his journey. There was little to no transition between the psychotic, impulsive, and violent Rafe we knew and this suddenly composed “man of the house” version of him. It just feels so… ??? to me. Like, where was the depth? The struggle? The process of actual growth?

And don’t even get me started on the whole relationship thing. That felt so rushed and out of character. Rafe would not just slip into a stable, drama-free relationship without some serious inner conflict. A relationship for him—especially a healthy one—would be messy, complicated, and full of ups and downs, considering everything he’s been through and the way he handles emotions. But instead, his thing with Sofia happened so fast, and while I get that there was a time jump and a lot we didn’t see, it still felt completely off.

What bothers me the most is how they ignored so many core aspects of his character. Either the writing is getting progressively worse, or this is just the calm before the storm—because I honestly can’t believe that he’s suddenly this composed and put together. It doesn’t add up. If they don’t address it, it’ll just feel like lazy writing, but if they’re setting up for a massive breakdown next season, then that’s a different story.

Either way, I just don’t buy that this is who Rafe has become without any real exploration of how he got there.

fiona is a gorgeous girl who delivers lines like she’s given them one word at a time. that’s all i’ll say on that!

look i ship kiarafe because i’m an enlightened individual who likes horror porn. fear to sex pipeline. but if i’m getting serious about who would best fit with rafe? babe you’re 1000% right it’s barry. the one who was there for him at his literal worst, who always had his back, who was always there to listen, it’s barry! without a doubt! (the first obx fic i ever read was barry x rafe and it inspired me to start writing for this show)

totally agree about rafe dating a pogue. this feels like an insane storyline they dropped on us last year with no context. you mean rafael cameron brought a POGUE GIRL with him to all his parties and events and NO ONE took issue with it? in a famously class-divided community? yeah, he badmouths her in private but how the hell are we supposed to reconcile with this worldbuilding flaw?? topper canonically can beat his ass and is 100x more classist. you mean to tell me he NEVER said anything to him?? 😭 alright alright
