Just an art question- how do people design monster concepts for Patrick, Joe, etc? I want to know because I want to design monsters for other celebrities and maybe my friends

honestly all of the monster designs were kinda randomized and i circled around certain personality traits or animals and expanded from there. there's really no rules or a certain method, it's whatever you think works best 😊 if you need any help i'd love to give it to you

Summary:

After a traumatic and life changing event, no one just goes back to their normal lives, as much as they try. When Patrick and his monster erased one of the most powerful and malevolent (but essential) Ancient Beasts from the world, Patrick knew there would be consequences to not letting Pete take over the role as was prophesized. There is a shift in unnatural occurrences, disappearances in the suburbs, and a bunch of “weird shit” becomes the norm in the already strange city of Chicago. The only solution is to accept the cause and effect of Patrick’s actions and to figure out where conspiracies end and truth begins.

I just want to say thanks to Daniel and everyone else who makes this world possible. I hope you enjoy it!

Question: a friend and I were talking about this au today (I might have gotten her into it i hope so) and she wondered a question that I thought was sort of interesting. If a vessel gets head trauma amd that trauma jostles some part of their brain around would it be possible for it to affect whether they can see their monsters anymore?

that’s a really interesting question though! i’m learning towards no because it’s more-so a magical gift than one that has a function in the vessel’s brain like our sight or smell. there’s no part of the brain responsible for their vision of monsters in particular but someone’s actual eyesight could still be affected. if someone goes blind, like many cases, the others senses adapt -- and monster vision or detection tends to work in the same way. 

vessels have a natural sense and awareness when it comes to their own and one another’s monsters

pete has a hard time grasping things with his new arm because he isn’t used to having the new limb once it’s sewn on. patrick helps him hold and feel things again by holding his hand so pete can hold it back. it’s very sweet.

pete gets frustrated with himself quickly when he isn’t able to do things immediately or well. patrick sits with him on the couch and knows that picking up something light or small should be simple but that doesn’t mean he’s worthless -- it just means he needs to be patient with himself.

he has to gain back strength and also bodily control after sustaining so much damage and patrick does what he can. he owes pete after everything, he thinks, and it’s strange to see him so down when all is said and done. it’s like his confidence is just non-existent and worsening by the day

so patrick just grasps his hand and squeezes it gently a few times and waits before pete catches on and slowly squeezes it back twice before they repeat the process again

I want more Ancient Beast lore! Either some “creation myth” type of stories. Like what other beasts bring to the world and if they are still “around” so to speak. Or if there are other specific believers/cults that might show up (or have in the past, for good or evil like the TBB worshippers). Also, are there any parts of the main storyline that you haven’t revealed yet, or any ideas that have come to you recently?

the world was created by four original ancient beasts, two in which being the sentinel and the artist who served two very important (and very different) purposes. the other two have yet to be determined or named yet but i’d love to see or hear some ideas from anyone who had them!

but the sentinel is known for its looking glass from on high, scrolling it with its large talons and peering down upon the world with keen eyes. it watches the first mortals in their creation, observes how they interact with one another and what dangers stalk them in the dark. the world they created among the cosmos was not one to be soft or gentle but one to house reflections of themselves -- monsters, creatures, those with teeth and claw. despite their less outwardly terrifying vessels, mortals with their own monsters had just as much potential to be ruthless.

the artist meanwhile was known for creating the blueprints for the first mortals and vessels that were seamless. it was able to create an undamaged and unaltered “container” for powerful and brand new creatures formed out of the ether by its hands. each new monster and vessel is one it would see with its own attention, crafting each with love and attention before casting it down to the mortal realm. like every ancient beast, they all have their role and specific place that no other in the pantheon serves, making them all necessary in their own way.

all of them are still around in regards to the storyline of the au, simply hiding and not directly interacting like they used to. 

each ancient beast has their own line of worshippers or sometimes extremist cults. many have one of the pantheon that they believe in their patron god and specifically pray or worship to them more than the rest. some are more subtle, simply doing a prayer when they wake up or before bed -- while others have committed horrible or terrifying acts under wrong pretenses. there is no distinguished way to worship but the world leaves little room for speculation. the ancient beasts are very much real -- or were -- and they’re somewhere still watching from afar

and definitely! it’s a lot of stuff that had to do with bebe and pete’s interactions, more details on the interactions between andy’s network and the cobras, a whole lot of stuff between fob and brendon when they go to the ruins, and some true/other ending content

this winter season has been rough in terms of my seasonal depression and it’s really taken a toll on my creative and general energy with almost anything. i really do appreciate everyone’s patience over the last couple months where i’ve been focusing on myself and i’m looking forward to getting back involved again soon!
