" Red Hair " chapter 1 - sneak peek

because chapter 1 is almost finished, i figured i should drop a little teaser of the beginning !!

" Wake up, Zoey. We're here. "

A sleeping, brown haired girl was leaning against the car window, softly snoring as her mother shook her shoulders. That girl was Zoey, who had spent all night packing and saying her tearful goodbyes to her friends and coaches. Even though this was the hardest ( and by far the worst ) she made in her life so far, it had to happen eventually. The drive was long, considering the fact that the two drove for almost a full day with a couple of breaks here and there. Michelle told herself it'll be worth it in the long run. It'll be worth seeing her daughter smile and making new friends and even newer experiences here.

It'll be worth divorcing her husband and letting him be with that woman. Her mind lingers on that thought, and she sighs softly.

' I hope they're okay. ' She thought to herself.

After a few minutes of gently shaking her, Zoey woke up, rubbing her eyes and looking around while her eyes adjusted so they weren't as blurry. To the right were smoothie shops, convenience stores and supermarkets that were closed. Maybe it's because of the fact it was so early in the day. To the left were nice two-story houses spaced apart from each other, some with " For Sale! " signs on the grass. She saw one that had the " Sold " sign over the typical red and white text. That was when it finally dawned on her that this was real. Her last goodbyes, her last home volleyball game, her last time hugging her dad. It really happened.

They were really in Canada. And that was something she'd have to get used to.
