Recently, Rare Noggin Stuff dumped a Disney Mobile-branded Samsung DM-S105, making it the second device on this MVNO to be dumped! As one would expect, nearly all of the graphics in the phone have been given a coat of paint from characters belonging to the mass media giant.
As always, the firmware and corresponding JTAG pinout used to dump the device are available on the Dumbphone Repo!

Hi! It's been a while! Here's some recent firmware dumps courtesy of DG and Rare Noggin Stuff:
Later-firmware Casio G'zOne Ravine 2
LG Rhythm
LG VX3100
LG Accolade
LG Chocolate Spin
Sanyo Incognito (Boost Mobile ver.)
Sanyo Mirro (Boost Mobile ver.)
Sanyo PRO-700 (1.005BM, 1.005WS, 1.107AP)
Sanyo RL-4920
Real sorry about the lack of posts as of late… things have been very busy. Keep checking the Dumbphone Repo's changelog and LPCwiki though - feature phone ROM and content preservation has not slowed down one bit!

thisisarecording.com - all sounds safe!
Need to give an update to this before I forget to post again - all of thisisarecording.com 's sounds are safe! A WARC of the former website's content can be found at this archive.org link, and if you aren't interested in playing with WARC extractors, I've prepared a link that contains just the content from the website, crucially with all ~1200 phone recordings.
Put the WARC into https://replayweb.page/ if you want to experience the site as it once was, or grab the .7z archive if you only want the sounds and nothing more.

This is a long shot, but I'm making this post here to ask if anyone knows the status of historical telephone message collection thisisarecording.com since its recent shutdown. I've recovered a few things from the blogspot URL but wonder if the OG collection is still out there in full. From the surviving saved blogspot links, I know they were uploaded using DriveToWeb, meaning they are (or… were) on Google Drive or OneDrive. There was a callout made by the @thisisarecordin Twitter account at some point, though it appears they've blanked their profile on there. It would be unfortunate if the familiar (and sometimes strange) sounds from a pre-mobile world were lost to time.

A short year-in review
Somehow it's 2025, and I can't possibly summarize the milestones in the feature phone mod and preservation scenes.
I wish I had a grand post ready w/ nearly 4k followers on Twitter (what?!?!?!), but watch this overclocked Motorola V220 vid if you haven't already :)

Did You Know...
Hidden inside of BlackBerry App World's data is an unknown, unmarked QR code not known to be visible anywhere inside of the app.
Where does that QR code lead to…?
This RickRoll'D video! (the actual link is http://bit.ly/c0TitE, but the YouTube URL is included for those who don't want to wait for bit.ly) I don't know of any way to trigger this QR code to show up in App World itself, but I wonder who snuck this in the COD file…

Two new feature phone firmware dumps thanks to keen456: LG Octane and Kyocera Domino! The S1310 is notable as being late in Kyocera's mobile life, yet was before their merge with Sanyo's mobile division. During this point in time, CDMA Kyocera phones had very close roots to Qualcomm's own phones. As a result, the firmware structure and proprietary libraries look a fair bit different…
Firmware dumps + JTAG pinouts are on the Dumbphone Repo as usual.

Just the past day, the Sanyo MVP ESPN phone, something once called "the dumbest fucking idea" by Steve Jobs, had its firmware dumped!
Rare Noggin Stuff once again knocks it out of the park with yet another feature phone dumped using its not-so-hidden JTAG interface.
Firmware on the Dumbphone Repo as always.

Just this past day, Rare Noggin Stuff yet again comes through by dumping firmware from three more feature phones!
Audiovox CDM-8912 (T115SP0T13.154)
Kyocera DuraPlus E4233 (1.305SP)
Sanyo SCP-8100 (1.013BM, Bell Mobility branded)
This also revealed that the DuraPlus may have also went by "PRO-375" some time early in development.
Also... BlueSky now! Follow oldphonepreserv.bsky.social if you'd like.

Thanks to another recent donation from Rare Noggin Stuff, the following Sanyo feature phones had their firmwares preserved:
Sanyo Juno (1.000BT and 1.007SP, both Boost Mobile and Sprint versions)
Sanyo PRO-200 (1.011SP, ReadyMobile "branded")
Outside of that though, they've been on a good winning streak finding JTAG pinouts and dumping feature phone firmwares themselves, so definitely give the Dumbphone Repo a look if you haven't in a while!

Just in time for the previous post, user Rare Noggin Stuff was able to dump the firmware from a Samsung Convoy 2 (SCH-U660).
This means that all four phones in the Convoy series have their firmwares available online once more!

T-Mobile US 2G "changing" in less than a day
T-Mobile USA's 2G network is slated to "change" in less than a day, according to this post. YouTube channel Tech Inside currently has a live stream showing the ill-fated 2G network's current statistics on an Android and BlackBerry device.
It'll be a sad day for those in the US who see their devices from 2G's heyday unable to communicate when the plug is pulled. Though I guess it is nice T-Mobile US has kept it up as long as it did, in comparison to other carriers.

The Curitel CX-800V prototype
This is the Curitel CX-800V, a localized English and Chinese version of the Korean-exclusive PG-K6000V. There's so little about this phone online to where I am unsure if it ever ended up being released. The example shown here is a prototype, still retaining many KTF carrier features such as magicN (their BREW app service) and fimm (video streaming)
I've also included some ripped graphics from the CX-800V's firmware and framebuffer. Overall this phone's story is an odd one - initially bought thinking it was a later #Audiovox CDM-8930 prototype, while it was actually a test phone for China Telecom (according to this Linkedin page)
Before making an LPCWiki page on the phone, the Linkedin page above was literally the only relevant information posted about the phone. For all I know, this may be the only one that left Curitel or China Telecom.
