i have no memory of starting and working on this, but i have physical proof that did so

I know one criticism some people have of the Rise turtles is that ‘everyone acts like Mikey’ and while I agree that the Rise kids do act more childish than their previous counterparts which kinda makes it seem that everyone is "like Mikey",  but I think the newest episode (Reparin’ the Baron) kinda shows how Mikey is still different than his brothers and that he is still the same Mikey we know and love.

Mikey was the only one to reach out and help Draxum when no one else would. None of his brothers, Splinter, or even April, had a shred of sympathy for Draxum despite his state. He found Draxum needing help and instead of being angry about what he’s done to him and his brothers (which is completely warranted since Draxum has tried to kill them all and nearly destroyed the world), Mikey found it in himself to forgive him then went out of his way to protect and give him shelter. He even tried to make Draxum feel better and got him a job at the end of the episode. He had unconditional faith that Draxum could become a 'good guy' and did his best to help Draxum realize it (sorta at least).

Part of it is Mikey’s childish naivety, but it's also because Mikey just has a big heart, as he always had since the beginning. It's what had set him apart in previous incarnations and even now. Previous Mikeys (2003 and 2012 at least from what I recall), would have done the same thing if they were in the same position, I feel anyway. They have reached out and helped people/animals who needed it when no one else would have (2003 with Klunk and 2012 with Leatherhead).

What I'm saying is that Mikey has always been a good boi with a big heart and he still is. And I love him.

Thank the lucky stars that the turtles reverted to their old selves, which allowed Donnie to reunite with his tech.

Can you imagine what could’ve happened if he didn’t have that armor to protect him?

This episode was so wild. So like first off, Mikey.

His first thought to trying to stop the Shredder, a dark demon possessed armor of nightmares that has showed no signs of weakness, from killing a bunch of people is not to try grab him with his Kusari-Fundo to slow him down or tether him or something.

But instead he’s like “Imma throw an ENTIRE 100,000TON+ CONTAINER SHIP AT HIM, that’ll stop him.”

And the amazing part is

No.

That didn’t stop the Shredder.

In light of the new episode, I will temporarily name this unknown stranger, Kabuki until we figure out their real name, since their face sorta looks like a Kabuki mask.

Also that is some very interesting...design choices and themeing for this character. It looks like a turtle plaston and is that turtle shell pauldrons? For what purpose?

How Shredder Moves

You know, when I thought about how Shredder would move and attack, I thought it would be slow and deliberate, sort of like a dragon.

But here he is scuttling across the ground like a god damn manic cockroach omg

Marked by an ‘X’

There’s some very odd imagery that I keep getting bothered by in that flashback segment. I really don’t know if it’s significant or not, but I still feel like the fact that the boys broke that teapot and never put that tiny piece back in, it means that Shredder isn’t complete. Technically. I think it’s most definitely a Chekhov’s Gun.

Shredder still has that one piece missing.

What’s odd to me, right, is that this tiny missing piece has an ‘x’ on it. 

Why is there an ‘x’ on it? It’s such an odd design choice for that particular missing piece. Honestly, you could put anything on that piece, but why something significant as an ‘x’? What’s weirder to me is that why isn’t that piece discarded on the floor or elsewhere..but why the hell is it on Leo’s foot?

I don’t know guys, but if I used treasure maps correctly, an ‘x’ usually means the idiom ‘x marks the spot’ or a ‘target’? A fun tidbit of knowledge while researching this topic was that supposedly, the British Army used black X’s to mark someone sentenced to death. Also this is very striking imagery for this scene to reveal that tiny piece. Turn Leo’s foot blood red and the background black only to reverse it in the next shot.

Now, I’m not saying Leo is a target, but I’m also not not saying that. 

All I’m saying is that piece is hella weird and we should remember this. After all, the ‘x’ part of this missing piece was important enough to show up in the storyboard so it’s gotta be significant.
