The worst part of reading Prose Tristan is that I am forced to have moments where I feel bad for Tristan! Against my will I am compelled by my writer brain to grapple with the heart breaking idea that Tristan knows Mark is sending him to Ireland with every intention that he would die!

Every adult that should have shielded him has failed and the only person he can rely on is Governal who is canonically a murderer! Damn it Mark!

If only the Queen of Ireland had killed him last chapter. She desired to, but Heaven forbid a woman take bloody revenge for her slain brother.

Arthur accidentally starts a group therapy session when he asks one of his knights to tell him a story so he can stay awake during a banquet, this knight proceeds to tell the most heartbreaking story about his childhood and in true knightly fashion, everyone else decides to try and one up him. By the end of the banquet:

Lancelot is crying in a corner while Galehaut is tries to comfort him in increasingly more frantic ways.

Dinadan is bored cause he already knew about half of this stuff. Everyone already just vents to him without any prompting, this was just information overload.

Kay has a ten mile stare. No one is sure if he’s dissociated from stress of if he’s having an epiphany and they’re all too scared to ask.

Bedivere actually took notes. They’re not sure why.

The Orkneys are surprisingly having a very productive conversation and actually working through some stuff.

Percival (who started this whole thing by innocently recounting his childhood) is feeling bad as Tor gently tries to explain that he didn’t do anything wrong.

Swimming lessons with Arthur where nothing bad happened at all and Mordred got to enjoy the water without a single tragedy occurring.

Oh wow that is so cool! Merlin is so fascinating (even just from my perspective as a character writer) so it’s probably so cool to learn about him and his history as a character. It’s so fun to draw Child Kay because he is so emotional and wears his heart on his sleeve, and the idea of him becoming a rather harsh adult makes me so sad.

Someone made a headcanon about how the whole Round Table gag and tie Tristan so that he would not sing ( not that he has a bad voice) during the feasts like in the Asterix comics and it's honestly perfect 😭 You should definitely make a doodle of it

It’s nice to know that I am not the only one that wishes Tristan would stop talking. As much as I would like to accept this headcanon as fact in my world view, I think gagging people at banquets would set a bad precedent for Kay. Kay would use this power as often as possible and while he’d be right, it would cause international incidents. That being said, I can think of an instance where Tristan gets gagged and deserves it. I hope you accept this humble offering.
