🌺💗✨🎀 Sincerely, ✨🎀💗🌺
By Kali Uchis
“The letter manifesto of a woman to the world”
This is one of the greatest album released this year: it’s dreamy, it’s introspective but also really current for that. Kali Uchis describes rationally, comprehends the world outside, and not finding her place, she creates it: she’s escaping a world full of injustice, uglyness, lack of love and empathy, to find that the only place suitable for herself and -mostly importantly- her newborn child is, a world full of her mind, her sensitivity, her freedom, her love and so she creates a new place that it’s the opposite of the outside one, and that is closed, secure, ethereal, because it lives rent free inside herself.
The visuals- as well as the sounds- reflects the rejection of the present-day and the need to live in her introspection: lace, lingerie, sultry fabric, in an abstract bedroom are all symbols of something very intimate, something feminine and personal that - in this case- assume the concrete form of the perfect place to take refuge especially with a newborn child.
The sounds as well as the visuals, avoid the present, to go in the past: there are clear references to the 50s, that give us a sentimental sense of certainty, calm, love and of course sincerity. It can be seen also a deep connection with all the Lana Del Rey first works -for the sound and the representation of introspection and selfless love that in this case Kali Uchis expresses towards her child - through all the album and in particular in the song “silk lingerie” which is very very similar to “yayo”.
In general this album is a letter to society that reflects not only the needs of a mother, who wants a better world for her child, but the feeling of an entire generation of feminist people, who demand to live in more rightful, empathetic and peaceful world, in which we can all live Sincerely,.

The rise and fall of “Electra Heart” and the birth of a “Princess of Power”
In the new song ⭐️CUNTISSIMO⭐️ by Marina, as well as in the music video there is a clearly reminiscence of Primadonna; the song in fact has similar electronic-hyper pop sonorities, and the music video has a clear intention to remind and represent the iconic images and aesthetic (bold, historical and colourful dresses, in a period building, as well as the opulence and romanticism of an old time) of the remarkable music video “Primadonna”, on the other hand it is also clear that in “Cuntissimo” there is a fundamental change that it can be seen in the different representation of the protagonist character, that lived -and died- and here is reborn: the acquaintance of her freedom;
if Electra heart in Primadonna wears her heart on her cheek” (visually represented with the draw of a heart on her left cheek) and fights deeply to have her own power, that she obtains from men through her beauty, and dies in this eternal battle against herself just for the seek of approval of others - mostly man-, now in “Cuntissimo” she rises from the dust of her death and, learnt her lesson, becomes herself: through the process of freedom and pleasure of her own mind and body, she switches from somebody who would beg others for love and power to someone who understands that it’s all them (“i’m a star” visually described by the simbol of the star on her left cheek);
Marina after years of inactivity is representing, with her latest work, the difficult process of acceptance, rebirth, and grow that a girl has to go through in this society, in order to find herself:
from a lost adolescent afraid of life, to a confident adult aware of her own worth, from an “Electra Heart” to a “Princess of Power”.
