Steve Harrington | Spidey 🕷️

Summary: You get stuck with Steve Harrington as your lab partner in your college biology class but he never seems to show up to class or make time for important homework assignments.
Imma call this aaaaa “people who love to bicker but actually love each other” fic because reader and Steve aren’t mean enough to each other to be considered enemies. :p ALSO! I will GLADLY write a part 2 of this so lemme know 🥰
Author’s note: I haven’t written anything in so long but I love this idea and had to write it myself. I hope you enjoy. 🧡
Warnings: getting cat called, and slightly grabbed (a man grabs your wrist hard but that’s as far as it goes), slight angst, cussing, uhhhh I think that’s it??
Word count: 3.9k
You sat in the cool air of your dorm room, focused on the biology homework in front of you as your roommate Robin was quickly flipping through channels on the TV to find something to watch. “-and Spider-Man!”, you hear quickly before the channel is changed again and your eyes are adverted to Robin. “Hey! Go back!” You say excitingly as Robin shrugs and goes back a few channels. “Okay, stop!” Your eyes light up as J. Jonah Jameson is going on another rampage about the city’s new hero.
“What… this?? I hate this guy.” You shake your head and laugh. “No, not the news guy! Spider-Man!” Robin rolls her eyes and smiles slightly, like she knows something that you don’t. “Ew. You know, there could be a complete weirdo underneath that mask and you wouldn’t even know it.” You shrug and go back to doing your homework. “Doesn’t matter to me.”
“Oh suuuure…” Robin says under her breath. “Huh?” You say with your eyebrows furrowed not actually sure of what Robin had said. “What? Oh, nothing!” She smiles and quickly fills her mouth with a handful of popcorn so she can’t talk anymore.
A few hours later Robin had left the dorm room to go take a shower and you hear a quick, melodic knock on the door. You sigh and stand up from the comfy spot in your bed and shuffle yourself to the door. As you approach the door you hear the sound of small items hitting the floor, followed by a mumbled, “oh, shit, fuck… SHIT!” You swing the door open to reveal Steve Harrington dropping a bunch of boxed candy and bags of popcorn on the floor. His fit frame bent down, picking up everything quickly. “Sorry I’m late, Robin, I got caught up with Spi- OH!” He jumps slightly before finally gathering himself and looks up at you, his smile dropping. “It’s you.” He stands up straight and shrugs, and scoots past you into your dorm room.
“Yeah, come right on in!” You say with a scoff as Steve lays all his stuff on Robin’s bed. “Hm… finally here to do our biology lab, Harrington?” He scoffs and starts pulling out a bunch of movies from his backpack. “Hell no. It’s horror movie night for Robin and I.” His back stays turned away from you as he talks, your eyes burning into the back of his head the whole time. Your arms cross over your chest as you lean your back against your bed. “Soooo, lemme get this straight, you don’t show up for class, you never show up to our study sessions, and now you can’t even help with the lab that YOUR name is gonna be on… even if you didn’t do any of it?” He shrugs and finally turns around to look at you. “Yeah, sounds about right.” He takes a step towards you. “Look, I’m sorry. I’ll figure out how to be included in the lab somehow, okay?” Your eyes narrow at him as you process what he’s saying.
“No you won’t.” You say flatly. Steve’s eyebrows furrow at you, his eyes looking a little bit shocked. “Wh-what do you mean?” You roll your eyes again before grabbing some of your stuff and a blanket. “You say that every homework assignment. I’m tired of picking up the slack for you.” You slug your backpack over your shoulder before walking towards the door. “It’s almost midnight! Where are you going?!” Steve says as he slightly raises his voice, annoyed with you. “To finish our lab, ya know? The one that’s due in…8 hours.” You look at a fake watch on your wrist before opening the door, revealing Robin only a few feet away from your dorm room. “Hey, idiot, where are you going?” Robin says with a smile as you walk right past her. “Enjoy your movie night.” You say to both of them as you make your way to the library.
As you reach the library, you couldn’t help but feel as if there were eyes on you the whole way there. It was a Sunday night on a college campus, lots of kids were finally returning to their dorms after a weekend of partying, but there was no reason to feel unsafe. You shake the feeling before finally finding a study room to finish your lab in peace. Thankfully you get super focused, not allowing your mind to wonder about the interaction you had just had with Steve or about the anxious feeling you had felt only a moment before. Only an hour later, you finished your assignment and smiled. Though, as you look at the top of the page where your name was written in nice, neat handwriting, you freeze for a second, tapping your pencil on the table as you think before sighing, and quickly writing, “Steve Harrington”, right next to yours.
You quickly close your notebook before you can change your mind and shove it into your backpack. The anxious feeling suddenly comes back as you realize you’re the only one in the library. You shake your head and quickly grab your things and start to make your way back to your dorm. Before you can make it to your dorm building you hear a whistle and freeze. “Hey, pretty thing!” Someone yells out and you continue walking. “Oh, come on, I just want to talk!” The voice is getting closer and closer to you as your feet start to move as fast as they can. Unfortunately, you weren’t walking fast enough as there is now a very drunk college boy walking parallel with you. “What? A guy can’t compliment a girl anymore?” He takes a slug of his drink before turning towards you. “Hm, thanks but I’m not interested. Have a good night.” He scoffs. “Come on! It won’t hurt to give me the time of day.” “It might…” you mumble under your breath before feeling a tight grip on your wrist. “What did you say?” He says between gritted teeth. “N-nothing!” Your voice gets louder but before he can respond, another voice is heard from above.
“Now is that any way to treat a lady?” Both you and the man, who’s grip on you loosens, look above you to reveal a figure perched up on a light post. The voice is sarcastic but playful as he shoots his hand out and releases a silk like substance from his hand, throwing the man away from you onto the ground. You stay frozen in your place, not sure if it’s out of fear or confusion. “Wha-?” You can’t even finish your sentence as the perched figure stands and jumps down besides you, your eyes going wide. “S-spider-man?” Your eyes light up as a smile appears on your face.
“Oh! Seems I have a fan?” The tone of the masked man is fun yet comforting, and it reminds you of honey. “Don’t get too close.” He says with a laugh as he walks towards the drunk boy who is still plastered on the ground. The masked man makes his way to the boy and webs him to the floor before crouching next to him. “Now, let’s use our big boy words and tell the girl you’re sorry? Okay?” The boy quickly nods before shaking and looking over at you. “S-sorry.” He looks over at Spider-Man, who’s shaking his head at him. “Hm… one more time. Like you mean it.”
“I’m really sorry, ma’am.” The boy looks back at Spider-Man for approval. “Much better.” Spider-man pats him on the shoulder before standing up, “Enjoy your time outside tonight!” He says as he looks down at the boy still webbed to the ground before turning his attention to you.
“Do me a favor, princess?” You nod your head, mouth slightly agape as you stand in shock still. “Go get to your dorm safely.” He points behind you as he walks backwards, never letting his back turn from you until you start walking away. You clutch your books to your chest before quickly turning around again to see if he is still there. Your heart is beating so fast that you can feel it in your throat, but you still manage to yell a clear, “Spider-Man?” In his direction. He turns back around and looks at you, walking backwards again.
“Thank you…” you say with a small smile. “Anything for you.” He yells back before swinging into the shadows. As soon as you turn around to walk into your building, you bite your lip and smile. “Oh Robin’s gonna love this.” You mumble underneath your breath.
As soon as you open the door to your dorm room, you feel an anxious energy flood over you. Your smile fades as you look over at Robin pacing back and forth and chewing on her nails. As she makes eye contact with you, her eyes light up. “Oh my god, you’re okay! I mean…” she puts her hair behind her ear. “Of course you’re okay, why wouldn’t you be okay? You were just at the library. At the library… in the dark! And I’m really scared of the dark so… in reality I’m just projecting my own fears!! I’m just being silly.” Robin laughs nervously as she sits on her bed. Staring at you with an awkward smile.
“Ooookay.” You say with a small laugh as you sit on your bed that’s across from her. Your smile grows bigger as you two sit in silence. “Oh, god, what??” Robin says with an amused but also grossed out tone. “IsawSpider-Mantonight.” You say under your breath super quickly. Robin squints her eyes at you. “I can’t hear a word you’re saying.” She says as she leans her head in closer to you. “Spider-Man. I just saw him… right now. He… he talked to me, Robin.” Your voice grows louder and louder as you speak, excitement spilling from your body.
Robin rolls her eyes as she lays back into her bed, slamming her back into the mattress. “Oh Jesus Christ, that’s what’s got you all riled up?” If only you could see the smirk on her face. “Robin, he saved me from this super creepy guy… and then called me princess.” Robin sits up from her parallel position and looks at you. “Ew.” She frowns.
Now it was your turn to roll your own eyes as you laugh and throw one of your pillows at her. “Whatever.” She laughs now too and throws one of her pillows back. “I’m happy for you, idiot.” She smiles as she lays down and pulls her blanket over her body. “Now go to bed and dream about your little spider boy.” She giggles and lays her head on her pillow, you mirroring her actions. “Oh I plan on it.” You mumble and fall into a deep sleep, every dream including the masked man who saved you tonight.
When you wake up in the morning, you quickly check your phone to see what time it is, and it immediately puts you into a panic. “Shit!” You say as you throw your blanket off of your body and pick up a pair of dirty jeans off of the floor and tug them up your legs. “What… are… you doing?” Robin grumbles as she covers her face with her pillow. “My stupid lab is due today and class starts in like…10 minutes.” You scoff as you pull a t-shirt over your head. “And lord knows Steve isn’t gonna show up and present anything so if I’m late that means both of us are going to get zeros.” Robin groans as she turns over in her bed. “Good luck.” She says as she throws a thumbs up over at you. “Mmhmm… thanks, R.” You quickly run your fingers through your hair as you shrug with approval and grab all your things, making your way quickly out of your dorm and to your class.
You had never walked faster to a class in your life. Your feet were moving a million miles a minute as you approached your classroom. That is until you hear a voice from beside you. “You look like you’re in a rush.” You stop in your tracks as you look at the boy and scoff. “Wow, decided to show up today, huh?” You look up at him, Steve. He shrugs and puts his hands in his pockets. “Decided I had enough time for you today I guess.” Your eyes squint at him for only a moment before you scoff. “Okay, Harrington.”
You shake your head as you quickly dig through your backpack and pull out the notebook that had your lab written in it, slapping it in Steve’s hands. “Review that as we walk.” You say as your feet start moving towards your classroom again. “You have a lot to catch up on. Come on, looks like we are both in a rush.”
Steve quickly follows behind you as he looks down at the lab in his hands, a smile forming on his face. “You know you really don’t have to give me credit for any of this… you shouldn’t.” You shrug as you look up at him. “You’re smart, Steve. I know you are. You just… are occupied. It’s okay. I’ll cover for you.” You smile up at him as he looks down at you with a glimmer in his eyes, the sun hitting off of the rim of his glasses perfectly.
“We could make a deal? I’ll do the next lab by myself. I promise.” You can’t help but laugh at Steve’s words as you shake your head. “Yeahhh not holding you to that promise, Harrington. Though, I do appreciate the offer.” Steve stops walking for a second, softly grabbing your wrist. “No, I’m serious, please, let me make it up to you.” Your eyebrows furrow as your eyes meet his, seriously considering his offer. “Fine. Pinky promise me, Steve Harrington.” Steve rolls his eyes as he holds out his pinky. A sweet smile on his face as a curl falls down into his face. “Pinky promise.” He slightly whispers as you two lock fingers. As your fingers lock and your eyes meet one another’s, you feel a flutter in your chest. It feels like time is frozen until you both get knocked out of whatever trance you’re in with each other when Steve looks down at his watch that’s on the hand that is currently interlocked with yours. “Okay but seriously we should probably get to class.” You release your hand from his as you nod quickly. “Mhmm, yeah. Class.”
As you and Steve are waiting for your turn to present, you can see Steve getting antsy. His leg shakes up and down as he chews on his thumb nail, his eyes staying in one place, his face showing that though his body is in the classroom, his mind is not. “Hey…” you whisper over at him. “Relax. We’re gonna do fine.” Steve looks at you confused. “Hm? I know that.” He shakes his head and goes back to chewing on his nails, his eyes darting down at his watch over and over again. You start to grow nervous that Steve might walk out on you right now. It wouldn’t be the first time. Finally, your names are called to present your lab and Steve sighs in relief, quickly standing up.
You guys present your lab almost perfectly, besides the fact that Steve could not slow down his speech, making it known he was in a rush. As soon as you said the last word of your presentation, Steve darted out the door. You smile at your professor awkwardly and then to your classmates. “Thank you…” you say quietly as you make your way back to your seat. The seat next to you now uncomfortably empty.
As soon as class is over you close your books and make your way to your dorm. You are incredibly thankful that you have no more classes for the day as you walk through campus. You can feel your throat start to close as tears brew in your eyes. Just once you wanted Steve to actually care. So many missed homework assignments, so many missed presentations, and now, finally when Steve shows up, he reminds you once again that none of this matters to him. Did you matter to him? Why would you? He’s Robin’s friend. You’re just his lab partner. You somehow wished you were more. After almost a whole year of being put on the back burner by Steve Harrington, you still expected more from him. Wanted more from him. You quickly wipe the tears that fall down your cheeks before a voice is heard from above.
“Hey, princess!!” The voice yells down. You jump slightly before looking up and seeing your favorite masked hero looking down at you. “Why the long face, sweetheart?” You laugh softly, wiping your tears clean off of your face. “I think you have better things to do than help a girl with her feelings.” You yell back with a smile. Spider-Man quickly jumps down and takes up the space right next to you. He shrugs, “my job comes with many responsibilities.” He starts to count on his fingers as he speaks. “Beating up bad guys, helping old ladies get their cats out of trees…helping old ladies cross the street, OH and watching pretty girls walk home.” One of your eyebrows goes up as your face contorts into amusement.
“Oh so I have a stalker now?” Even though the man has a mask on, you can feel the worry on his face as he gasps. “What? No… no! That’s not what I meant! You know that’s not what I meant!” He says awkwardly and in a panic as he puts his hand on his head. “I just mean… you know, you never know what could happen because of that… creepy guy the other night.” He leans his back on the wall of the building you guys are standing next to, trying to be slick and cover up what he had said. You can’t help but laugh as you step closer to him. “Well then I guess I’m honored.” As you look at the masked man, you can’t help but feel a longing for him. You want to know his secrets, what he looks like. His favorite color and favorite movie. You want to know him. Not Spider-Man, but the man in the mask. Your smile fades as you look toward your dorm building.
“Well, I shouldn’t keep you. It’s uh, it’s sweet of you to check on me.” You start to walk backwards, making your way to your dorm. Spider-Man sighs as he throws out his hand and swings back up to the light post he was on only minutes ago. “Don’t be a stranger.” He yells down. “How could I be??? You’re stalking me, remember??” You yell back at him as he shakes his head and laughs. “In your dreams, princess!” He yells one last time before swinging away. Oh if only he knew.
You spend the rest of the day longing for another interaction with Spider-Man. Just from the two small interactions you had, he made you feel like you mattered. As you sit cuddled up in your comforter, you can hear laughter approaching your room before Robin walks in with Steve. “Oh, sorry dingus number two! I didn’t know you’d be home yet.” You sigh as you sit up and look at them both. “No problem.” A small smile forms on your lips as Steve looks over at you. He waves and scratches his neck nervously. Robin looks at you both and rolls her eyes with a loud groan. “Oh get over it already you two. I can not have my two best friends be this awkward with each other all the time. It’s killing me!” She grabs a few popcorn bags and walks towards the door again. “I’m going to the lounge to make this. You two…” she points at you both back and forth, “work this out right now. She’s joining us for movie night tonight.” Steve looks at Robin with furrowed brows and slumped shoulders, almost begging her not to leave. Like they both know something you don’t and they are communicating with their minds.
Robin tilts her head at Steve and he rolls his eyes with a quiet, “okay, fine, fine…” leaving his lips, his hands going up in surrender. Robin quickly makes her way out of the dorm room, slamming the door behind her. You can’t help but laugh at her dramatics, Steve joining in right after. “Awkward? Pft… we aren’t awkward.” Steve says as he leans against Robin’s bed, arms crossed over his chest. You smile at him and roll your eyes before pointing between the two of you. “Oh, this isn’t awkward?” He shakes his head with a smug smile. “Nah…” he laughs before sighing and looking down at the ground. “I’m sorry… about earlier. I wish I could make it up to yo-,”
“Don’t worry about it.” You quickly cut him off, not wanting to get upset, but Steve shakes his head. “No, I am worried about it. I’m sorry.” You frown slightly at him before speaking. “I just want to know why, Steve. I know I’m just your lab partner, but…” you shake your head at your own words. Steve squints slightly at you, wanting you to keep going. “But what?”
You scoff again. “Nothing. Seriously. You have better things to do, I understand that.” Steve frowns back at you now as he glides his hand through his hair. “I just wish I could explain…” you shrug at him. “There’s nothing to explain, Steve. You have your life, I have mine.” Steve pushes his glasses up his face before sticking his hands in his pockets. “Whatever you say, princess.” You smile as you look down in your lap, but suddenly a voice in the back of your head repeats the word princess back to you. It’s not the word, it’s the way he said it. It’s not mocking you, it’s sweet…like honey. You freeze, mouth going slightly dry as your head shoots up to look at him, eyes going wide in shock. The nickname, of course you’ve heard it before.
“What?” Steve says with a small chuckle, noticing the way you're suddenly studying his face. The chuckle that leaves Steve’s lips suddenly sounds familiar to you. He’s busy all the time because he is Spider-Man. A voice says in your head before you shake it away. “Nothing…nothing! We’re good, Steve, I promise.” Your mind is still running wild. You try your best to hide your thoughts, not wanting to look crazy. Steve smiles and holds out his pinky, just like earlier. “Pinky promise?” You take a deep breath before locking fingers with him again. “Pinky promise.” You smile and just as you’re about to say something else, Robin barges in the room with two bowls full of popcorn, she smiles wildly as she looks at your fingers interlocked. “Awwww… dingus one and dingus two just needed some alone time!” She says as you and Steve both roll your eyes and let go of each other’s hands. You look over at Steve one more time, his curly hair dangling in his face, his glasses perfectly framing his face, and you can’t help but smile.
Maybe your connection with Spider-Man ran deeper than just having a crush on a masked superhero. Maybe he’s been in front of you this whole time and you’ve never realized it. Whether your sudden realization was real or not, Steve Harrington had his secrets, but so did everyone else. Maybe you’d never know who was behind the masked hero, but suddenly, it didn’t matter.

Steve Harrington | Just a Christmas Party
masterlist

Steve Harrington | Merry Christmas
Summary: you, steve and the rest of the older half of the group throw a Christmas party for the kids. HEAVY FLUFF OHHH MY GOD.
Authors note: this is definitely more a you x everyone platonically fic but you are dating Steve in it. I just wanted to write about a Christmas in Hawkins. I hope you guys like this one!! Happy reading!! Merry Christmas!!
Warnings: just tooth rotting fluff. use of Y/N.
Word Count: 1172
It was a very cold night in Hawkins, Indiana. Christmas lights filled the streets with warmth and you and your friends were in nothing but a giving mood. You, Nancy, Steve, Jonathan, Robin, and Eddie had big plans to surprise the party with a Christmas gift exchange.
“Did everyone bring presents? I brought a few extra just in case Eddie forgot.” You hear Nancy say from the living room as you continue to whisk together cake batter.
“WH- do you have no faith in me Nancy Wheeler?!” Eddie says back as he walks in with a big box full of presents for everybody and starts to place them neatly under the tree. You laugh as you lick some batter off of a spoon to make sure you’ve made the cake just right.
“Hey, Stevie, come try this for me?” You say as you put a small amount of chocolate batter on a spoon for Steve. As soon as the spoon touches his mouth, his eyes light up and he kisses his fingers like a chef would. “Magnificent as always, Y/N.” He says with a smirk as he reaches down and gives you a quick kiss on the cheek.
“Need any help? You know I’m a wizard at decorating a cake.” Steve leans against the counter and crosses his arms. “Nuh uh, big boy, that’s my job.” Robin nudges him as she walks into the kitchen. She knows just as well as you do that Steve always ruins the cake. Steve pouts jokingly and makes his way to the living room. “Fine I’ll do the manly thing and light the fire.” He says in a mocking voice as he brings himself to the living room where the fireplace is.
You and Robin mock him behind his back and giggle to one another as Jonathan snaps a candid picture of you two with your hands covered in fondant. “Oh my gosh, oh my gosh.” You say suddenly frantic and everyone turns to look at you.
“DID YOU CUT YOURSELF?!?” Eddie and Steve say at the same time and you laugh. “No, no!” You nod your head over to the counter. “The decorations. The kids should be arriving any minute now. All of you up, up, up!” Everyone quickly moves from their current places, except you and Robin who’s still covered in food coloring and frosting.
Steve is helping Eddie hang up streamers over all the windows and Nancy and Jonathan quickly blow up red and green balloons to put around the house. “Oh, Steve. I also need you to pop the waffles in the toaster for eleven, please!” You say as you and Robin finish up the cakes. “You got it, hun.” Finally, the house is ready for a wonderful Christmas party.
And, just in time too as the doorbell rings and you all open it to the party yelling a big, “MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!” To all of you. They all make their ways into the house and you can see their eyes light up from the way the house looks and the amount of presents under the tree. Max and Eleven immediately run into the kitchen to look at the cake you made and start thanking you like crazy. Mike, Dustin, Lucas, and Will start play fighting with Steve, Eddie and Jonathan and it’s like a mad house inside.
Jonathan steps away from the fun to take some more candid photos of everyone. Max and El smile and hug each other for their photo while all the boys continue their madness. You can’t help but stand and just take it all in. Your eyes meet Steve’s for just a second as he takes a breath from the boys. He mouths, “I love you.” And your heart skips a beat. The smile on your face lighting up the room even more than the Christmas lights were. “I love you too.” You mouth back as Steve sighs.
“Okay, okay. Enough. How about we get these presents open??” All the kids take this as their cue to grab their blankets and find a seat on the floor near the fireplace. All of you older kids grab all the presents and pass them out to everyone. Everyone looks so grateful just to be here. Will is the first one to say something before they start opening their presents. “You know- you guys didn’t have to do all of this.” You all give each other a smile before turning back to the kids. “We wanted to.” Robin exclaims as she takes your hand and gives it a tight squeeze.
“You guys deserve to feel like kids.” You say as you lean into Steve and he kisses your head.
“Oh my gosh, the suspense is killing me just open them already!!!” Eddie says as the kids start ripping into their presents. Gasps and cheers happen all around us as everyone starts exclaiming thank yous over one another. Max runs up and gives Steve and you a huge hug since you guys bought her a brand new skateboard she has been asking for. “This is so sick! Thank you so much!” Will is especially thankful when he notices how much everyone notices how much he still loves D&D. “Thank you. I- I really love it, really.” He says to everyone. Everyone is smiling. Real genuine smiles that come from the warmest feeling of happiness.
It suddenly dawns on all of you how long it has been since you’ve felt this happy. There’s absolutely nothing to worry about right now. No demogorgans, no upside down. It’s just…Christmas. And you all are surrounded by the people that matter the most to you.
The night slows down after everyone opens their presents and you decide to put on a Christmas movie and eat as many sweets as you can. Steve and you make your way to the kitchen to cut the cake.
“I’m really happy, ya know?” Steve says quietly, this is a conversation just for your ears.
“Me too.” You whisper back. Your eyes meet his and you look at him with nothing but love. Before you can say anything too gushy, Steve smiles as he looks up. Mistletoe.
You roll your eyes and he smiles down at you. “Can’t skip out on a mistletoe kiss, Y/N, that’s against the rules.” He says softly and with a laugh as he dangles it above your head. You look over to make sure nobody is looking and then back at Steve. “No, I guess I can’t.” Your voice is like honey as it leaves your lips and Steve leans in and kisses you passionately.
Applause. Everyone in the living room is clapping and cheering. Before you can pull away from the kiss, Jonathan is quick to take a picture of the kiss between you and your boyfriend. Your face turns bright red at the audience you thought you didn’t have and Steve laughs.
Between all the commotion, Steve looks down at you and pulls you close. “Merry Christmas, pretty girl.”
“Merry Christmas.”

Steve Harringon | Drunken Encounters
masterlist
Summary: You just can’t seem to hold your liquor correctly and your best friend Eddie Munson is just too out of it to help you. Steve Harrington notices your wobbly walk and can’t help but to grab your arm to help hold you steady. Just some fluff.
Word count: 1367
Warnings: Cussing, emetophobia (no throwing up, just gagging and feeling sick.), talking about being drunk, talking about being high, uhhhh I think that’s it.
Author’s note: hehehehehe I hope you like this one. I haven’t written in a while so BARE WITH ME. lemme know what you thiiiiink. okay thanks, happy reading. ;) also perhapppsss ill make a part two??? idk yet.
It was a late night of drinking at none other than King Steve Harrington’s house. You don’t quite know what possessed you to show up to this party, knowing damn well that the sight of Steve makes you gag, but it was finals week and this was the best way to take the edge off. A few hours into the night after being way too sober, you find yourself tapping your foot against the floor, eyes wandering and decide to get yourself another drink. “Hey, Eds.” You shake eddie’s shoulder to try and get his attention but Eddie was already out of it for the night. High as a kite.
Eddie shakes you off of him which makes you roll your eyes and sigh as you stand up off of the couch you two were sprawled out on and make your way to the kitchen. On the counter there is an absolute mess of alcohol to choose from. You sigh and pick up a few trying to decide what would be the easiest to choke down. “Disgusting.” You whisper to yourself as you pick up a bottle of straight vodka.
“Hating on the choices, are you?” You hear a voice say from behind you which makes you roll your eyes. Steve. “You have horrible taste.” You say with a small smile. Okay maybe I am a little drunk already, you think to yourself as you allow your smile to fade away quickly.
“Too pussy to take a shot of vodka?” Steve asks jokingly. Your eyes narrow as you look at him and then the bottle. “Oh is that a challenge?” A small chuckle leaves your lips as you speak before Steve grabs the bottle from your hand, your fingertips gliding against one another’s for only a second. Your eyes never leave his face.
Steve pours two shots for you guys and says a small “cheers” before choking back the hot liquid. To your own demise, you gag slightly and Steve laughs. “Oh come on, seriously?!” He says still slightly laughing at you.
“You can’t look me in the face and tell me that that’s not disgusting??” You say as you wipe the remnants of the liquid off of your lips and notice Steve staring. “Okay your turn. Pick one.” He says as he waves his hand towards the other alcohol.
As you overlook the liquor in front of you, Steve can’t help but look at you. He’s never really talked to you like this before since you always seem to immediately shut him down. He likes you. He’d never admit it to anyone, especially himself, but he likes you.
“Okay, this one.” You say as you start pouring two shots of fireball. “Bold choice.” Steve says confusingly as he watches you pour the shots. Steve puts his in the air for a cheers, “to new friends?” He bites his lip nervously. “Don’t push it, Harrington.” You say as a smile accidentally creeps up onto your lips. You both shoot the hot liquor and surprisingly, you don’t gag. You actually kind of like it. “Mmm…” you say under your breath as you finish the shot.
“Yeah? That one better?” Steve asks you. His voice sounds like honey as he speaks after taking the spicy shot. “Much.” You say as your nose scrunches up.
“Here.” Steve says as he mixes you a drink with the fireball in it. “It’ll definitely take the edge off.” You take the cup from him, your fingers touching softly once again. “Thanks…” you say, a bit confused by this conversation with him. Someone you never felt you’d ever get along with. “I’m gonna go, uh, find Eddie. Nice chat…Harrington.” You turn around and curse at yourself for being so awkward. Is it the alcohol finally kicking in or is Steve Harrington actually… attractive?
As you sip on the drink Steve made you, you slowly start to notice the effects the alcohol is having on you. Having a dealer as a best friend means your usual choice at a party would be weed, which evidently made you a lightweight with alcohol. As people dance around the house and play drinking games around you, you find your vision growing blurry and can’t quite think straight. You try to shake Eddie awake again but he’s still out of it.
“Shit…” you whisper to yourself as you stand up off of the couch but it seems like gravity wants to pull you right back down.
You finally catch your balance and start to make your way into the kitchen for some water but it seems like it’s miles away. Your body is just not functioning correctly. As you are about to fall over, a pair of hands find your arm, balancing you. You hum slightly as you look over at the person who caught you. “You againnnn?” You groan in your drunken state when you notice it’s Steve. “I think I just saved your life, so maybe be more thankful, yeah?” He says jokingly with a laugh as he strengthens his grip on you to ensure you stand up straight.
You giggle, “What a humble soul you are, Steve Harrington.” You pull your face slightly in towards his, your drunken eyes scanning all over his slightly sober, caramel ones.
“I don’t… feel good.” You say honestly in broken words as Steve starts walking you somewhere. “Yeah I can see that, come on.” He pulls you into the bathroom near the kitchen and locks the door. “Sit on the cold tile, it’ll help.” He says softly as he helps you slowly sit on the floor. “I’ll go get you some water, stay put.”
Steve quickly rushes out of the room and you’re left on the bathroom floor being the most confused you’ve ever felt in your life. Is this real? No. This must be some drunk dream. Are drunk dreams a thing? You laugh to yourself on the floor, everything in the room spinning around you.
When Steve walks in, he sees the giggly expression on your face and cracks open the water bottle he brought you. “Oh great, she’s gone crazy.” He says with a laugh as he sits on the floor with you, handing you the water. A quiet, “Thanks…” leaves your lips as you lean your head against the wall, Steve sitting criss crossed in front of you.
“Does it always feel this horrible?” You ask with a pout.
“No. Just sometimes. Do you need any food?”
Just the thought of food makes you gag. “Sorry… no, definitely not food.” You say. The world won’t stop spinning and you feel sicker and sicker every second that passes.
“It’s okay. We can just sit here until you feel better.” Steve smiles at you and you feel the world stop spinning for only a second.
“You’re a mystery to me, Steve Harrington.” You match the smile on his face.
“Good.” Steve says as he puts the water bottle back in your hand. “Sober up quickly. I just know sober you would never be here with me right now.”
This takes you aback. Even in your drunken state. “Wh-what’s that supposed to mean?” Your broken words come out slowly as you sip on the water.
Steve laughs as he runs his hand through his hair. Butterflies. You shake your head at your thoughts.
“I don’t think you like me very much.” He looks at you still smiling, but his tone is slightly different than usual.
“That’s not true.” Your face contours into a pout. You’re so drunk you can’t even try to think about how to respond. “I-I like you… you’re, cool, I guess.” You shrug your shoulders. Steve laughs again.
“Okay, maybe not a conversation for you to have right now.” He says as he stands up and grabs some anti nausea pills from the medicine cabinet. “Try and swallow these. You’ll feel a lot better, I promise.”
You nod and take them quickly so you don’t make yourself more sick. “You’re a good person, Steve Harrington. I don’t know why I’ve never seen it before.”
Steve squats down to your level and pushes a piece of hair behind your ear. “Maybe I can show you when you’re sober, too.”

Steve Harrington | You Don’t Go to Parties
masterlist
Summary: After the night of Tina’s Halloween Party, Steve Harrington rarely stepped foot into parties. When you ask Steve to come to your 18th birthday party, he refuses, and you spend the whole night only thinking about him. (Kinda but kinda not based on 5 Seconds of Summer’s song ‘You Don’t Go to Parties”).
word count: 1994
warnings: cussing, mentions of drinking, mentions of robin hooking up, angst.
A/N: I have tried to post this FIC for DAYS! I’m hoping that today is my lucky day and it’ll finally post :( happy reading!
————————————————————————
You and Steve Harrington met your freshman year of high school and were inseparable until your Senior year rolled around. Steve became distant from you, it was like you were watching him become a whole new person from afar and it broke your heart. Was it Nancy Wheeler’s fault? No, no it couldn’t be. Nancy was too kind to change the Steve you used to know into the “King Steve” that now rules the school.
Though, this new Steve Harrington always intrigued you. He always seemed to have played the part of a mean popular kid, instead of actually being one. It was like he was an actor on stage whenever he was around his friends, begging for it to come to an end and that curtain call was near so he could be applauded for his performance. You could see right through his facade.
You watched the argument play out between Steve and Nancy the night of Halloween at Tina’s party. Her demanding to keep drinking as Steve begged her to stop. You watched them from a distance, just as you had been for the past year. You watched as Nancy’s girl next door white sweater got covered in red punch, as she ran for the bathroom upstairs with Steve following close behind. You didn’t eavesdrop, it was none of your business what they were going through.
When Steve walked out of the bathroom, you grabbed his wrist and Steve flinched at your touch.
“What the fuck? Can I help you?” Steve spat at you, he was drunk and confused. You could tell he wanted nothing to do with you, yet you made it a point that you wanted to talk to him, “Are you okay? I’ve never seen a tear leave King Steve’s eyes before.” Steve rolled his eyes at you, “That’s because you don’t actually know ‘King Steve’,” he scoffed and your face softened. He was right, you didn’t, not anymore. “Then show me.” Steve let out a chuckle, only allowing air to leave his nose as a slight smirk appeared on his face. He dragged you into a nearby room and sat you two down on the bed.
You were shocked to have been sitting so close to him. You could feel his breath on your face and the tears welling up in his eyes were shining in the dim lighting of the room. “Are- Are you okay, Steve?” Steve was looking into your eyes and you could see the conflict behind them. “Love sucks,” Steve started whispering, “Why does it hurt so bad?” Your heart clenched. Truth is, you loved Steve. Maybe you allowed him to distance himself from you when he started dating Nancy. It hurt too bad to watch him be with someone that wasn’t you. “Love doesn’t suck, Stevie. It- fuck, sometimes it has to hurt so that you know that love is still there. It’s what makes you…fight for it.” You pulled your hand up to Steve’s face and wiped the thick tear that was falling down his cheek, “What happened to us?” Steve said between his drunk whimpers.
You scoffed, “Love.”
It had been a few months since that night. Steve makes it a point to make eye contact with you in the halls, though never says anything to you. You want to say something. Maybe rekindle the friendship that you two once had, but you just couldn’t. You had hoped you would bump into Steve at another party. Where your drunk minds could spill everything that you wanted to say to one another. But Steve hasn’t been at one party since Halloween. You would sit on the couch in the living room of every house, foot tapping nervously on the floor awaiting the entrance of the King of Parties, and he would never show.
Your birthday was coming up and you hoped and hoped that Steve would show up to your birthday bash. You were popular enough for people to pass out fliers for your party, and with a little confidence, you walked up to Steve with the bright pink flier and tapped him on the shoulder. He turned around and his eyebrows furrowed, confused by your presence.
“H-hi.” You choked out, Steve looked at you then at the flier in your hand then back up to your eyes. “Hey.” That was all he said back. You cleared your throat as you handed him the flier, “I wanted to give this to you. My”-
“Your birthday is coming up, I know. You’ll be 18. Sick.” Steve interrupted you. You nodded your head hopeful that this means you two could spend time together at your party, but Steve retaliated by shaking his head. “I’m sorry, I-I can’t go.” Your stomach dropped. Why not? Steve started walking away from you and you scoffed. “You can’t whine about Halloween forever, ya know? Get over it, Harrington” You spat out at Steve. You had never talked to him like that. You watched as Steve stopped in his tracks, he stood there for a second as your heartbeat fastened, and you felt like you were going to pass out.
Steve didn’t know how to react. He fought with his inner conflict, trying to decide whether he should fight with you or not but he thought that the look on your face when he told you no was enough pain to leave you with, and he began to walk away again.
You felt enraged and for the first time ever, you felt like a heartless monster.
It was finally your birthday night, and you tried everything to forget about Steve not coming to your party. You were sitting on your vanity chair, applying a beautiful face of makeup as you could feel yourself holding back tears.
“I can see those tears brewing in your eyes from a mile away, you better stop.” You heard come from behind you when you saw your best friend Robin walk into the room with a bouquet of flowers. “Happy Birthday my sweet friend,” Robin said as she came and hugged you from behind in your chair.
This allowed you to take your mind off of Steve. You met Robin not too long ago in your Math class. She was a year below you and really was a genius, though she would never admit that. Robin and you got close because she was open with you about how much she didn’t like Steve, and your friendship brewed over late-night talks about the boy. You told her everything. How close you were and how you think you were in love with him. She would always make disgusted faces at you because of it, but she was there for you nonetheless.
“If you are crying over Harrington I’m going to shove these flowers right up your a-” You stopped her before she could continue. “Robin, please, I don’t cry over that boy anymore. I’m just feeling a little overwhelmed about tonight.” You lied right through your teeth, though it was a good enough one for your friend to believe you. She sighed and sat down on the edge of your bed. “There is nothing to worry about, Y/N. You look great and you’re going to have an amazing time tonight, okay?” You nodded your head at her, stood up, and was ready to take on the night.
Robin was right, you were having a great time. That was until 3 a.m rolled around and everyone was still partying. You were exhausted and no longer drunk. You sprawled out on your couch and watched as everyone continued dancing, partying, and playing games. You caught a glimpse of Robin in the hallway wobbling around, trying her hardest to dance with a girl that she met that night, and smiled. Suddenly, that smile started to fade as you wished a certain someone was there so you could be drunkenly dancing with them. His deep, caramelly brown eyes looking down at you as his soft pink lips sing along to the song playing. You just wanted Steve. You continued laying there, hoping for a miracle. You watched the door, imagining that Steve would be walking in at any moment. This is stupid, you thought to yourself. You knew Steve didn’t go to parties anymore, why would he miraculously show up to yours?
You gave up and walked to the kitchen to get a glass of water. As you turned on the facet, you couldn’t even hear the water running because of an uproar that started happening in your living room. People were cheering and hollering, even clapping. They must have finally finished that game of beer pong, you thought and sighed as you leaned up against the counter to take a sip of your water.
You could see your best friend trying her hardest to make her way toward you, she had the biggest smile on her face. You were expecting her to tell you she just had the best hookup of her life or something, but instead, Robin tripped over her words and said, “Come here, you have to see this!” She grabbed your hand and dragged you into the living room. There was a huge crowd in there and you could hear people saying “Steve?”, within it. You thought that you were hallucinating until you finally made it through and saw Steve playing the endless game of beer pong. You stood there in shock until Steve turned around. He smiled at you and looked back at his beer pong teammates, “Sorry guys, I have some business to take care of.” He said and he started walking toward you, extending his hand out for you to take. You hesitated at first but felt Robin nudge you. If she approved, then you definitely did, so, you took Steve’s hand as he dragged you down to your basement, giggling like a little girl.
“What are you doing here?” You questioned through laughter. He shrugged his shoulders and had a slight smirk on his face, “Couldn’t miss my sweet girl’s birthday could I?” Your heart skipped a beat at the nickname that Steve had always used for you. You hadn’t heard it in a while. This moment felt like a fever dream, you were so happy to see Steve that you almost forgot how late it was.
“Quite a late arrival don’t you think?” Your smile faded a little, and Steve noticed this. He sighed and grabbed your arms, “I know, I know. To be honest, I stared at that little flier you gave me all night, deciding whether or not to come. I decided it would be better to show up late than not show up at all.” You nodded, agreeing that it was indeed better.
“Why have you disappeared, Stevie? I thought that partying was your thing.” He tilted his head up and stared at the ceiling then back down at you, “Heartbreak does that to a person, Y/N.” Heartbreak. That’s when you realized. Nancy broke Steve’s heart the night of Halloween. You hadn’t seen them together since that night and the whole school was talking about Nancy always being in Jonathan Byer’s car. You wished you could’ve been there for Steve the past few months and didn’t know what to say. You just hugged him, the tightest hug you could give. His embrace felt like a warm blanket. He grabbed your head and rubbed his hands through your hair, he missed your touch. “I’m sorry.” You said into his chest. He let out a chuckle. “Hey, sometimes love has to hurt,” He copied your words from the night of Halloween. You removed your head from his chest and looked up at him as he cupped your cheek. “But ours doesn’t.” And with that, he pulled you to his face and kissed your lips as softly as he could, cherishing the moment. When he pulled away, he looked into your eyes, and whispered, “Happy birthday, sweet girl.”

A/N: THIS CHAPTER TOOK FOREVER BUT ITS MY FAVORITE ONE 💞💞 if you would like to be a part of the tag list, lemme know! happy reading! <3
————————————————————————
Steve was nice enough to walk me back to my car once I was calmed down to drive. He was so… gentle with me. The walk was silent, but not uncomfortable. It was similar to the silence I have with Eddie at times. It’s just peaceful. When we got back to my car, Steve grabbed my arm. I flinched a little bit, I wasn’t used to his touch. “You’re gonna be alright, yeah? The kids are hanging out at the school. Dustin says they have AV club every day, so I’m counting on them being there,” I nodded, “I’ll be fine, Steve. The school is not too far. I’ll honk at you if there is a problem.” He gave me a soft nod before letting go of my arm. “Okay, I’ll see you soon. Follow close behind!” He said while walking away towards his car. “You act like I don’t know where the school is!” I yell out to him, but all he did was wave his hand at me signaling a “yeah yeah” without even turning around. I sighed as I entered my car. I sat there for a minute, allowing myself to zone out and just think for the first time since I ran out of the locker room. I felt as if life wasn’t real. I remember feeling this way the night that I got my dreadful scar, and somehow the feeling was stronger. I wanted more time to gather my thoughts but Steve started honking his horn, indicating he was getting impatient with me. I blinked rapidly to come back to reality, let out a heavy sigh, and put my car into drive.
As I drove to school, following the tail of Steve’s lover (his car), I thought about what these kids that Steve was bringing me to had to do with any of this. I knew that Will Byers went missing last year, he was the talk of the town, you had to be living under a rock to not know that he was gone. But somehow, he has even more people talking about him now that he was found alive and well. I remember the headlines in the newspaper: “The body of missing child Will Byers found in the local quarry” were plastered everywhere. And then, last year on the night that we battled the demogorgan, he was found. The town didn’t know how to explain it and let’s just say Hawkins isn’t the nicest to outcasts. I hear the words “zombie boy” being thrown around every day to describe the young boy, and it breaks my heart. I’ve talked to him a few times. There were many days that I would be hanging out with Nancy and hear her younger brother Mike and his friends down in the basement of their house. It was a comforting sound. The laughter of a group of friends who were like brothers. It was nice.
I missed the days that Mike would hug me goodbye when I would leave the Wheeler’s home. He would pull my arm down so my ear was at his level and whisper “I wish you were my sister too,” and it always tugged at my heart. I grew up without siblings, so seeing those boys meant everything to me. I hadn’t seen them for over a year and couldn’t stop thinking about how awkward this conversation at the school might become. Like, “Hey Mike, how are you? Hope all is well, oh this scar? Super cool, huh? Oh, also I have powers now!” Yep, sounds like it's going to be a great conversation.
All of these thoughts allowed my drive back to the school to go quickly, and I was parking next to Steve’s car in no time. As I turned off my car and got out, Steve followed and did the same.
“See Stevie, I made it here with no scratches,” I said in a sarcastic tone, mocking how worried he was about me driving only a few moments ago.
“Hm, no new scars either?” Steve said as he looked over my face and body. My face dropped as I rolled my eyes, “Don’t push it, Harrington,” I said as I closed my car door and began walking towards the school and Steve followed my lead. “Hey you know I’m only joking Y/N,” he looked at me with sympathy behind his eyes, “Mmhmm,” was all I could mutter out before Steve interrupted me.
“By the way, I do remember you taking me home last night,” my head shot up to look at him as I stopped in my tracks thinking that earlier he was lying just to get a reaction out of me, Steve could tell I looked offended, “bu-but only in pieces. I started remembering when I was driving into the woods. It’s all…really blurry but I remember you giving me a blanket? Did you do that?” I nodded. “Okay, yeah, so I do remember. Just…not a lot,” he seemed almost ashamed for not knowing what happened last night but I couldn’t blame him. I knew this would happen, and yet I still got upset. Part of me wanted him to know every detail of what happened last night to see if what he was saying was true, and so, like word vomit I said “You called me beautiful,” his eyes widened, “oh” he whispered under his breath. Ew. I hated this. I wasn’t trying to have a sentimental moment with him, I had enough of those with Steve Harrington for one day, but I needed him to know. I needed to lighten up the mood. I started walking again, letting him know everything was fine, “Yeah you started crying like a lil’ baby, said sorry multiple times about calling me scar face at the party, and uh told me I was beautiful,” Steve started laughing, “yeah that uh, sounds like intoxicated me for sure,” I started laughing with him, “let’s just say even though it wasn’t for you, it was quite the memorable night for me,”
“Oh yeah I bet! Not every girl gets the luxury of a night alone with the one and only. AND I called you a term of endearment? Phew, Nance better not find out,” he said in his cheeky little voice that he did as he put his hands up in surrender. I was about to come back with something snarky when I saw a young girl with beautiful auburn hair sitting outside the AV club room. She stood up super fast when she saw us approaching the door, “Do you know them? Those stupid boys?!” She asked us frantically. Steve and I looked at each other, eyebrows furrowed, then back at the girl, “If you mean Dustin and the other dummies then yeah, we are here to talk to them,” Steve said to the girl. She looked irritated and sighed, “Well good luck, they won’t let me in and if they let you in I swear,” Steve scoffed and knocked on the door and the boys voices behind the door fell silent until a “WHAT MAX?” Came out of one of their mouths. Mike. I could recognize that voice anywhere.
“What? No. Look, it’s Steve. I have Y/N with me, we need to talk to you guys,” Steve was yelling through the door to ensure the boys could hear him. “Y/N? As in Y/F/N Y/L/N?” I heard Mike question through the door before all three of us outside could hear the boy’s panicked fidgeting, and within a few seconds the door flew open and revealed an anxious looking Dustin as he fanned us all into the room and was muttering lots of “quick”s and “hurry”s. After we all scurried into the room, Dustin slammed the door behind us, and locked it as quickly as he could. Steve walked in first and went around the table that was in the middle of the room. He was standing across from me, along with Mike and Will. We all stood in a circle around the table, but Dustin was standing behind me in order to guard the door.
“Amazing timing, douchebag. Just so you know, we only opened that door for Y/N, not you, Harrington.” Mike spit out at Steve. Steve made a face to indicate that he was offended as he took a step back, “Ouch Wheeler, so much pent up anger in such a little body.” Mike squinted his eyes and put a fake smile on his face to mock Steve as I stepped in “We aren’t here to fight,” I looked at Steve and then back at Mike who now looked like a dog with its tail between their legs, “Look, something is happening and Steve thinks that you guys are the only ones that can help me.” They all looked at me, Dustin and Will looked concerned as Mike looked at all of his friends before saying “W-well what is it?” I looked at Steve, he could feel how nervous I was from across the table that was between us, he nodded his head at me, indicating an ‘it’s okay’. I took a long beat before looking back at Mike and saying “We think I have powers…” Steve scoffed at my lousy confession “THINK? No, no. This girl almost just killed me with that shit. We know she has powers.” He said as he looked at me and pointed at my hands. Lucas was the first one to speak up as he rolled his eyes, “Oh, come on. Y/N you have nothing to do with any of this. And, if you did have powers, where were you last year when we all needed help?” Mike looked upset that Lucas would question me and he hit Lucas on the arm and said, “She wouldn’t just lie, Lucas. Give her a chance to explain herself. Maybe she could show us?” Mike’s sentence ended as if he was asking me to show them at this very moment.
“NO,” Steve and I both yelled at the same time, “I-I mean… no I can’t. I quickly tried to calm my voice, “I can’t risk hurting you kids, plus I don’t even know how to use them. The feeling only comes at certain times. I-I don’t know how to control it.” I admitted while looking back and forth at all the eyes on me in the room. Will looked at me with soft eyes filled with sympathy and said, “Well, there’s gotta be something that triggers them, right? What does it feel like when you feel them coming?” This made me think for a minute until my eyes shot up to look at Steve, and then back at the kids. Steve looked confused at my sudden eye contact with him. “It’s always when I’m around um, Steve.” I didn’t want to say it, but it was the truth. My powers were only triggered when I was around, or thinking about Steve Harrington. “That’s disgusting.” I heard Dustin say from behind me. “No, no not in that way, gross. It’s when he pisses me off. Look, the first time I ever felt like that was last night. I’ve felt tingles in my fingertips before but nothing more. I took Steve home last night because he was drunk, so drunk in fact that he called me Nancy and that’s when I felt the tingles for the first time. But, they went away quick enough for me to not think anything of it,” I went on to tell them all the other times that Steve riled me up enough to trigger a reaction like that, and then told them about what happened in the woods. “Red? Just like, exploded out of you?” The auburn haired girl questioned, “Like-Like the Scarlet Witch in X-Men?” Dustin said with so much amusement in his voice that I couldn’t tell if he was excited or mocking me. Lucas scoffed. “No way, the Scarlet Witch isn’t real, and she is way too powerful to exist.”
I looked over at Mike to see if he had anything else to say. “El was powerful too, ya know? We didn’t believe her at first, we can’t make the same mistake with Y/N.” All of his friends looked at him, at Steve, and then at me. Everyone was staring at me until the weird box that the boys had on the table started moving. “Oh, shit” Dustin said as he went to grab it but Lucas smacked his hand and shook his head aggressively at him. Steve stepped forward, “Whatcha boys hiding in there, huh?”
“No-nothing!” They all said in unison as the girl holding her skateboard rolled her eyes. Mike picked up the microphone on the table and held it up like a weapon as the box fell on its side. “Don’t hurt him!” Dustin said. Him? “Only if he attacks.” Mike responded. “Guys, what is in that box?” I questioned as Steve came from around the table to stand by my side. “Just open it already!” Lucas yelled. “You idiots, what is in there?!” Steve asked affirmatively, demanding an answer. Dustin rolled his eyes, grabbed a little remote from the table, and opened the box to reveal a slimy, tiny looking creature. “Holy…shit.” Lucas, Steve, and I all said in unison. The creature started to crawl towards Dustin and in front of the 7 pairs of eyes in the room, sprouted an extra set of legs. “Oh, shit!” Lucas screamed as Mike went to hit the tiny monster with the microphone. But, he missed and the creature started running towards the closed door. I don’t know what came over me, it wasn’t Steve this time but suddenly all the kids' attention left the creature, as they all looked at me. Steve grabbed my shoulders and stepped in front of me to hide me from the kids.
“Y/N, your eyes, stop.” I started to blink rapidly to try and get it to go away but that thing was still in the room with us and I was terrified. It was like my arm had a mind of its own as it flew upwards towards the door, and the same red glowing ball of energy that hit the tree in the woods earlier, came out of my palms and caused the door to the AV club to fling open, allowing the creature to escape. “Y/N, snap out of it, look at me.” Steve shook me a little bit as I blinked one last time, looked at him, then at the kids in the room with me and just whispered “I’m so sorry…” but the boys had already started running towards the creature before I finished getting my words out. “What was that?” Steve asked, still holding onto my shoulders. “Dart!” Mike yelled, annoyed. “And because you brought her here, he escaped.” Mike was never hostile towards me, it was a terrible feeling to see him upset with me. “Well, why did you attack him?!” Dusting argued with Mike. Mike ignored his question as he yelled a quick, “Come on!” to his friends and we watched them all split up to look for…Dart.

Steve Harrington | “I’m Here”
masterlist→
Summary: Let’s just say your best friend Steve Harrington isn’t as good at hiding how in love he is with you as he thinks he is. You’re not feeling your best and call Steve to come over to help you and he gladly obliges.
word count: 1692
warnings: just some cussing here and there, nothing bad though. sick reader, sappy steve. I think that’s it :)
A/N: I wrote this cause I’m sick right now and would kill to have a hug from Steve Harrington. Hope you all enjoy, happy reading. :)
————————————————————————
It was a cold winter day with cloudy skies and was forecasted to rain all day long. This was a day that you would usually take advantage of. Cuddle up by the window with your favorite blanket, hot chocolate beside you with your favorite book in hand. But no, not today. When you woke up, you felt like complete and utter shit. You would usually be okay with feeling a little under the weather, but this time was different. Your family members had already left for the day, leading their busy lives and you knew you couldn’t call your parents and ask one of them to come take care of you. So, you took a lucky shot and called the local video store, Family Video, to see if either of your beloved best friends were working and if they could point you in the right direction of the other. It was rare that Steve and Robin both worked the same shift on a weekday, so you were hoping that today was one of those occasions.
As the phone rang, you whispered under your breath that you hoped Robin was the one who picked up. As much as you loved her and enjoyed her company, you wanted the comfort of Steve Harrington more than anything at that moment. To your surprise, as if the universe answered your prayers, you hear a very bored voice pick up the phone, “Thank you for calling Family Video, I’m Robin, how can I help you?” Oh thank god. “Robin, it’s me, Y/N,” you could immediately hear the tone in Robin’s voice change and you could hear her smiling through the phone. “Dingus number two! How are you? You don’t sound like yourself. Everything okay?” She questioned you as you could hear concern behind her excited tone. “No, actually. I woke up this morning and I feel so sick. I don’t know, I think I have a fever? I’m home alone and I was hoping that you or Steve weren’t working so you could come help me?” I could hear her giggle over the phone, “Oh don’t sound so helpless yet Y/N, yeah I’m working but Steve is off today! How about you call him at home? I’ve got customers staring me down like they’re gonna kill me if I don’t help them soon.” She said between her teeth. You let out a heavy sigh of relief. “Y-yeah, I’ll call Steve, thank you, Robin, love you.” Your voice was soft, thankful that this phone call went exactly as you wanted it to. “No problem, feel better, yeah? I’LL BE RIGHT WITH YOU, okay I gotta go, I love you too. Byeeeee.” You heard your phone line beep, indicating that Robin ended the call and you started dialing Steve’s number.
“Hello?” A very groggy voice comes from the other end. “S-Steve? It’s Y/N, did I wake you?” Steve’s voice changed when he heard your voice the same way that Robin’s did only a few minutes ago. “Hey, you! I may or may not have been asleep still,” he sighed, almost embarrassed that he was sleeping. You laughed. “It’s okay, Stevie,” before you could finish what you were saying, Steve interrupted you. “Are you okay? You sound sick.” He must have heard your voice that is currently much deeper than your natural voice is. Tears started to form in your eyes as you realized how sick you actually felt. “N-no. Are you busy today? I feel like shit, I don’t think I could even get up to get water right now.” Steve’s heart cracked with every word you spoke, “Hey, hey don’t cry, it’ll only make it worse. There’s no way I’m gonna let my girl dehydrate okay? I’ll be there in ten and don’t cry anymore!” You heard the phone hang up and sighed, you felt at peace knowing Steve was going to be by your side soon.
Knock knock knock. Steve got to your house in a perfect 10 minutes and waited at your door in the rain until you managed to get out of bed. His palms were wet holding a bouquet of flowers for you that were from his mom’s garden. He couldn’t tell if it was from the rain or how sweaty his palms were at the moment. You made him so nervous. After all these years, King Steve just couldn’t get over how in love he was with you, though he’d never admit it. Robin and Dustin have tried countless times to trick him into a confession, but he has never given in. He loved you too much to allow himself to ruin the relationship the two of you already had. He couldn’t imagine a life without you in it, even if that meant you couldn’t be his. You finally opened up the door and felt like you looked pathetic. Steve smiled at you and you heard the smallest “oh, baby” leave his lips as he walked inside and pulled you into a hug. The hug was so warm, it was everything you needed. When he let go, you missed his touch instantly and then you saw the flowers in his hands. “Oh, Stevie, they’re beautiful! A shame I can’t smell them right now.” You pout, wishing your day with Steve was under different circumstances.
“I’ll put them in a vase, you go sit down and get under a blanket, I can see your goosebumps from a mile away.” Steve said as he pointed to the couch in your living room. You nodded your head in agreement and walked towards the couch. But, as you did, Steve couldn’t keep his eyes off of you. The way you wobbled and moved so slowly in order to make it to the couch. Why aren’t you helping her? Steve cursed himself out from under his breath as he quickly filled up a vase with water and plopped the flowers in it. “Do you need anything before I come sit down with you? How about that water you mentioned on the phone?” Steve asked as he peeked his head around the corner, with all your might you were able to push out a “yes please.” and Steve’s head disappeared from behind the wall and in only a few seconds he was back with a glass full of cold ice water.
Steve sat the cup down on the coffee table in front of you before he found his spot next to you on the couch. You started to sit up to make room for him but he shook his head, “No, no baby, here, lay your head on my lap.” You gladly followed his directions and got comfortable on Steve’s lap and his hands found your hair immediately and started brushing his fingers through it. “Thank god you came Steve, I almost called the kids. I was desperate.” Steve chuckled, “The last thing you need right now is a bunch of boys running around your house. Can you even imagine Dustin trying to help someone that’s sick??” You laughed with him, “No, but I think Will and Max could manage. Maybe even El. Oh what I’d do to have powers like that girl. I could’ve just used some cool telekinesis to make myself a glass of water.” Steve let out a tiny laugh, the one where only air comes out of your nose,
“But then I wouldn’t be here.” Your heart skipped a beat. He was right. As much as you didn’t want to be a burden to your friends, the company of your best friend was like no other. “Thank you for coming, Steve, I really needed this.” He smiled down at you “anything for my girl.” Steve Harrington knew exactly how to give you butterflies, and you did the same to him. He thought you looked ethereal right now in his lap and wished that he could take a picture of you. Though, he didn’t really need it because every moment like this with you sticks into that boy’s head. He wanted to tell you how he felt about you right then and there, it would be perfect, he thought to himself, but when he opened his mouth to speak, you beat him to it. “You’re so good to me, Stevie,” he could’ve shed a tear at your words, “I truly don’t deserve it.” Steve shook his head, “No, Y/N, you deserve the world.” You two stared into each other’s eyes for a few moments until Steve accidentally said it, the forbidden words that should have never left his lips
“I love you,” he froze. He didn’t mean to say them, “like, like as friends ya know, like love ya, cause we have known each other so long and you and Robin say it to each other and”- You were smiling the biggest, cheekiest smile ever and cut your best friend off, “I love you too, Steve.” And with just those words, Steve’s body finally relaxed under you, “You-you do? Like in the way you love Robin? Or a, I don’t know, a different way?” You managed to push yourself up off of Steve’s lap so you were sitting next to him, face to face, faces closer than they ever have been before.
“Oh Steve Harrington, if I wasn’t so sick I would kiss you right now just to shut you up,” You said through laughter. Steve looked at you in shock and you were waiting for him to say something as you grabbed his hand and interlocked your fingers with his. “Yes, Steve, I love you in a different way.” And there was the confirmation he needed, he didn’t care that you were sick, he cupped your face in his hands and crashed his lips onto yours. The kiss was eager, but soft at the same time. He was trying to be as gentle as possible with you, but you could feel how long he had been waiting to do this. When he finally pulled away, you were able to catch your breath. “Great, now you’ll be sick.” You said, Steve rested his forehead on yours, smiled and said, “I don’t care.”

————————————————————————
I had no idea where I was going. After what Steve and I saw in the mirror, I ran to my car, and left school. I had never ditched school before, but I had to get out of there. What if it happened again? And if it does happen again, when? Whatever it is. What the fuck was happening to me. I started to sob uncontrollably as I drove into the woods. I parked my car in the middle of nowhere, and flung the door open as I ran out of the car. My lungs craved fresh air as I started to hyperventilate from the panic attack that I had induced myself into. I dropped to my knees, and as I did, I felt the prickly feeling of the needles from earlier, but it was everywhere. My nerves were on fire. I leaned forward to place my hands on the ground to gain some balance, my arms felt weak and I almost collapsed to the floor, and when my hands hit the ground, all the dirt and leaves from underneath my palms were pulsed away as a glowing ripple of vivid red energy expelled from underneath my hands. I froze in place just staring at my hands on the ground. Did I do that? I slowly leaned back up as I turned my hands over to stare at my palms. I started shaking. My eyes were peeled open with shock and tears were still streaming down my face, “Powers,” I heard from behind me. I turned around so fast I could’ve given myself whiplash.
There stood a girl, around the age of the youngest Byer and his friends staring at me. “W-What?” Was all I was able to stutter out. “Like me,” I was so confused. Who is this? The little girl walked towards me, held her hand out for me to grab, and I took it as I stood up. “You…You’re not scared?” I asked. This small gesture made me feel at peace. I was finally able to take a deep breath, It felt like she was my guardian angel. “No,” she shook her head. I cracked a smile at her. “School,” she said and I titled my head to the side “School? Are you looking for the school?” She nodded. I don’t even know how long I had been driving, we could be miles away from the school. “I, uh- I don’t know how far we are but the school is in that direction,” I pointed to where I came from as she let go of my hand, she smiled and said “Bye,” and she started walking in the direction that I pointed. I watched as the curly-headed girl made her way to the school. I felt a strong breeze against the back of my neck, and in only a moment my whole body was covered in goosebumps. A feeling I had grown used to this past year. I sat back down in front of the uncovered earth spot I had made moments ago, listening to the sounds of the woods. It was the first time I had felt calm all day. I looked back down at my palms and my gaze blurred. I zoned out looking at the hands I didn’t recognize only a few minutes before. I heard a twig snap next to me and when I looked to see what it was, of course, it was my favorite person in the whole world looking back at me.
“God, what do you want, Steve? Haven’t you done enough?” I started getting teary again. Steve shook his hands and his head at me “No, no, no don’t cry, please”. He got down to my level and sat with me, but I scooted away. “Okay, I deserve that,” I looked at him, “What’d you do, follow me here? Wanted to make fun of the freak some more? How about you call me scar face one more time?” Steve was shocked. “What, NO, no. I mean yes, I followed you here, but no not to make fun of you,” I looked away from him in fear that my eyes were going to look different again, and crossed my arms so I could tuck my hands away. We sat in silence as I waited to see what he was going to say. I wanted to be mean and tell him to fuck off, but there was a voice in the back of my head reminding me of all the nice things he said to me when he was drunk, and that he was nice enough to come check on me at this very moment. And then, my thought-filled brain decided to blurt out, “Please just tell me why you hate me so much, Steve. Why would you rather have me bleed out on that terrible night last year than put me in your car? Why do you make fun of my scar every chance you get? I-I just want an answer,” I still wasn’t looking at him, but I could still sense that Steve’s body tensed up. “Y/N, I don’t hate you. You just, God, now that I am saying it out loud, it isn’t even you,” I finally looked up at him, “Not…me? What does that even mean Steve?” I said it with more annoyance than was intended, but I always seem to have this tone with Steve, so I guess it’s a habit. “Look, when Nancy and I first started dating, it was like you were always the topic of the conversation. It was Y/N this, and Y/N that. I could never just have a conversation with my girlfriend. And, before Barb went missing, Nancy always canceled on me for you. No matter how hard I tried to ignore it, it seemed like you were always in the background of our relationship, and I never was able to get close to Nancy because of you. I never meant to start being mean to you, but I could tell you didn’t like me and that made me even madder. Like I should be the one that hates you, not the other way around,” I probably looked like a deer in headlights, all I could do was stare at him. I was too in shock to respond. And then, I laughed, and I couldn’t stop. Steve frowned,
“Why the fuck are you laughing, I just poured my heart out to you,”
“Oh, Stevie, that is the same reason that I don’t like you,” I watched as his frown turned into a smile, and he was trying to fight his laughter from escaping, but he let the laughter win. We both were just sitting on the ground, laughing with one another.
“That is so stupid,” we both said. And, it was. We both were just jealous of one another’s relationship with Nancy Wheeler. Comical, was all I could think because of where Nancy and I’s relationship stood now. Steve and I’s laughter faded as Steve looked me in the eyes and I could see the seriousness behind his eyes. “Okay, I am not trying to be mean, I seriously just want to know, what…what happened back there in the locker room?” I could tell he was choosing his words very carefully to not make me upset. I sighed and stood up off the ground, after dusting the back of my pants off I looked at him, “Your guess is as good as mine, Harrington. One minute I’m feeling these, I don’t know, tingles? Throughout my body and then…you tell me there is something wrong with my eyes,” I could feel myself growing anxious thinking about what had just happened and could feel those very tingles start to flow through my body.
My voice starts to rise, “And then, suddenly looking in that mirror-” I pointed towards the direction of the school but as I did, a bright orb of red left my hands and hit a tree next to me, I took a step back and I could hear Steve scurrying on the ground behind me, “Holy shit,” he says and he starts to walk towards me. I hugged my hands into my chest trying to hold myself together after seeing what just came out of me. Steve looked so…concerned. Why doesn’t he look scared? He should be terrified of me right now. I am terrified of myself. His eyes softened as he approached me with caution and grabbed my shoulders. He could feel how tense my body was as tears started streaming down my face.
“Hey, hey, hey, you’re okay! I got you, you’re fine,” I wasn’t fine, I was terrified of my own body, “Steve, I am NOT OKAY” I uncrossed my arms as I flung them open and the scarlet-colored energy that left the bottom of my palms earlier left my whole body, and flung Steve to the ground. He started groaning from the pain of falling on his back and then…nothing. Steve was just lying on the ground, limp. I killed him.
“Oh…oh my god,” I ran to Steve’s side as I sat down beside him, “Steve, STEVE,” I was shaking his whole body as hard as I could, What am I gonna do? I can’t tell anyone what happened here. But that girl saw me here. She is gonna tell the police she saw me at the scene of a murder. “please…please be okay,” I whispered underneath my breath between weeps. After a few seconds of no movement, I became desperate and yelled, “STEVE HARRINGTON, PLEASE, wake up!” and the boy beneath me started laughing. I just stared at him with a blank expression on my face. No way this boy was making a sick joke at a time like this. “Fuck you, you jerk!”A chuckle escaped at the end of my sentence as I shoved his shoulder. “Oh my god, I got you so good, Y/N! You were actually worried about me,” Steve continued to laugh as I wiped the tears off of my face. He stood up off of the ground and held a hand out for me. “Shut up,” I said with a smirk as he picked me up from the dirt. Thank god the boy wasn’t actually dead, the last thing I needed was to become a murderer. “I thought I actually killed you, Steve,” he chuckled, “you can’t get rid of me that easily Y/L/N,”
I enjoyed this moment with him, but once our laughter died down, I realized that maybe I could have killed him just then. I don’t know how to control what’s happening to me, my smile faded as I spoke, “Steve, I’m scared,” I crossed my arms over my chest again as I looked at him. This caused his smile to fade too, “you don’t need to be scared, look I think I have some kids that you need to talk to,” I tilted my head, confused why he is mentioning kids, “You know Jonathon’s little brother and his friends?” I nodded, “Well, they have a lot more to do with what happened last year than what Nancy and I led on, I think they could really help you,” Honestly, at this point, I could take any help that I could get, even if it is from twelve-year-old boys. “Okay, yeah, lead the way”.

A/N: hi everyone! sorry it has been a few days since I have updated this story. I’m on a writing kick at the moment so there should be chapters coming out faster. let me know what you think and if you would like to be tagged in future chapters, happy reading! <3
————————————————————————
When I woke up the next morning, I hoped to God that what happened last night was just a bad dream. But as I woke up this morning, I saw the crimson-stained corset staring back at me. It wreaked of bad memories, and everything that took place the night before hit me like a bus. “Fuck,” I whispered under my breath as I ran my hands over my face, I took a deep breath before dragging myself out of bed and heading into my bathroom to get ready for the day. Halloween being on a school night sucked, as it had only been five hours since I got home from taking care of a very drunk Steve Harrington. I shouldn’t have gone last night, I thought to myself as I covered my scar as best as I could with makeup. I was so nervous to go to school. Nervous I would see Steve and even more nervous to find out if he would even remember what I did for him last night. If he doesn’t remember, how awkward would that be? I laughed to myself. I am supposed to hate his guts, and all I can thinnk about is how he is going to act towards me. Maybe it will be better if he didn’t remember, that way I can avoid him and never have to try and explain why I did that favor for him. The poor boy was so drunk and emotional, I actually felt bad for him. He couldn’t even get his keys without- shit. That’s when I remembered that I stuffed a bunch of stuff that flew out of Steve’s pockets into my shorts. I ran to the pile of clothes I left on the floor last night to see what exactly it was I had taken home with me.When I reached into the pocket of the shorts on the floor, I pulled out a key that looked similar to Steve’s house key. Fuck. There goes avoiding him. I knew I gave Steve his keys back last night, maybe this was a spare that he kept in his pockets? I began cursing under my breath as I realized I would have to talk to Steve today and couldn’t pretend that last night didn’t happen.
I was dreading going to school. As I was driving, my hands were sweating and I felt the same tingling sensation in my fingers as I did last night when Steve called me Nancy, but this time it was worse. Instead of just the feeling of static from electricity, it felt like tiny needles were pricking the tips of my fingers. “Ouch,” I winced, and shook my hands and rubbed them on my pants to try and get rid of the feeling, thankfully it didn’t stay long, and was gone by the time I pulled into the parking lot of school. As I walked into the hallways of Hawkins High School, I saw Steve walking towards me. Oh God, hes gonna talk to me. Prepare yourself, don’t be a bitc-. And then…nothing. Steve walked past me, nodded his head at me with a smile to indicate a “hello,” that he did to everyone he passed in the halls, and that was it. We brushed shoulders as we passed each other in the tight hallway, and I missed my chance to hand him his key. Did he not know that it was missing? I saw Eddie standing at my locker waiting for me as I thought about how I was going to approach Steve later in the day. “Hey, babe,” Eddie said as I approached him. “Hey, you,” I said through a sigh as I opened my locker. “How are you doing today, have you seen Harrington yet?” I looked up at his face and he was wiggling his eyebrows at me. “Ew, Eddie. And yes, I have. And nothing, he didn’t say one word to me”. Eddie made a face at me to indicate that he wasn’t shocked. “He is either really embarrassed or he doesn’t remember one thing from last night,” that made me cringe. “I can’t tell which one I would rather be the truth” came out of my mouth through gritted teeth as I slammed my locker shut and started to walk away. “Woah, woah, I don’t get what the big deal is, you got him home safe, so that’s the end of it right?” Eddie didn’t understand what I was saying, and neither did I. “I don’t know Eds I just feel…off is all,” I said this as confidently as I could, I really didn’t want my best friend to be worried about me. “Hey, that’s okay, you had a pretty rough night,” I nodded my head, “Yeah, about that. I have Steve’s house key and I need to give it to him today. Do you know what his schedule is like, at all? It would really help me out”. I was looking at him with hopeful eyes as he responded with a “mmm not really, except that he is in gym during 5th period, we pass each other when I’m on my way to Hellfire Club” How ironic, of course my free period would line up with Steve being in gym. Just another factor that is forcing me to have to see him today. “Well, great,” I sighed. “That’s my free period so I’ll have to give it to him then. Of course Steve would find a way to take away time from my free period,” Eddie giggled at me, “Oh c’mon cut him some slack, you act like it is his fault,” I smiled at Eddie as I ruffled his wavy hair and said, “Everything is Steve Harrington’s fault to me,” and walked to my first class of the day.
The rest of the day waiting for 5th period went by way too fast. It’s like the clock was ticking faster on purpose, knowing that I had something coming up that I didn’t want to do. Like when you procrastinate on an assignment and it creeps up on you. Yeah, it was like that. The bell rang to indicate that 4th period had ended and I started walking towards the gymnasium. When I first walked in, I didn’t see anyone except for the other kids who hung out during free period, so I decided to sit on the bleachers and wait for Steve to get to class. My foot was tapping uncontrollably and the goosebumps were back, god why is it always the goosebumps? When I was trying to get myself to calm down, a whistle blew and a bunch of boys, including the one I was waiting for, ran onto the basketball court from the locker room to begin class. Their assignment for the day was to play a game of basketball, and win. Not for a prize or anything, just for the sole reason that high school boys love competition. Unfortunately for me, this meant that I had to wait until they were done to even TRY to get a word in with Steve. So, I might as well enjoy myself and watch them play. But as I was watching, I was enjoying myself a little too much. I couldn’t keep my eyes off of Steve and how he looked. His hair was messy and he had sweat running down his forehead. I pictured the version of him that I saw last night, the innocent one that was laying on the couch and I couldn’t help but smile. Ew. I forced the smile off of my face. Why is he hot? I felt myself growing red in the face from anger. Of course he’s hot. He is an asshole, assholes somehow always are hot.
There was another boy on the court, who I met last night at Tina’s party named Billy? Yes, Billy, who was just another example of assholes that are hot, that was going head to head with Steve and I could hear him call him “King Steve” a few times before throwing him to the ground. Me, and the rest of the people watching in the crowd made an audible “ooh” sound as Steve picked himself off of the ground to continue the game but Billy had already made the winning shot. The whistle blew and it was like on cue, Nancy Wheeler walked into the gymnasium, making eye contact with Steve and then they both walked out the doors of the gym to the outside. “Hm,” I said to myself. What unfortunate timing for me. I waited a minute or two before walking out the same doors they did to see where they went. All I wanted was to get rid of this damn key. When I walked out the doors, I heard arguing. I know it’s not good to eavesdrop, but I couldn’t help myself as I heard Steve say “Well then, tell me!” and then a defensive Nancy came back with a “Tell you what?”, “That you love me,” Steve said. It was almost like he was begging to hear the words come out of her mouth. “Really?” Nancy whispered right as I dropped my books and made my presence known. I stumbled to pick them up as I stuttered, “So-sorry, Steve I have your uh- your key,” I said while standing back up and watching Nancy walk away from us. Steve watched her leave and then looked back at me, “My- my key? How do you have my key?” He said walking back to the gymnasium while shaking his head. I followed his lead because he didn’t grab the key out of my hands. “When I took you home last night I accidentally ended up with it in my pocket. I just wanted to get it back to you.” His eyebrows were furrowed to the point where they were almost touching and a frown was smeared across his face. “Y/N, I’m sorry I’m not quite understanding, I don’t think you took me home, I drove myself,” he said with a chuckle that almost mocked what I was saying and my face dropped. “Oh actually uh, I DID take you home. You were really drunk last night,” I paused and shook my head “Ya know what? It’s okay I wasn’t expecting you to remember, I’m really not shocked at all,” I scoffed and couldn’t help the attitude filled tone that left my mouth. I was getting irritated. He continued walking towards the locker room, but I was still right beside him. Just take your damn key. “Even if you wanted to take me home, why the fuck would I let you?” Oh. The feeling was back in my hands, but worse this time. It was shooting up into my head. How typical of King Steve to be so ungrateful. I practically saved his life last night. The feeling in my head wouldn’t stop and I wasn’t thinking straight. I have never let Steve get to me like this before and all I could focus on was how angry he was making me, “God, not even a thank you? You probably would have crashed your beloved car if it weren’t for me,” he sighed as he opened the locker room door, “I didn’t need your help,” he went to walk away but I wasn’t done and barged into door he was trying to close. “What the fuck are you doing, Y/N, you can’t be in here,” I was so mad. “Why do you hate me so much Steve, like actually, I would love to know,” I started yelling. “If anything, I should hate YOU. You took my best friend from me, are nothing but rude to me, call me names, and because of you, my white corset is ruined” This wasn’t like me. It wasn’t like me to have a short temper, or get mad at someone verbally. I felt like I was seeing red. The dark vermillion color I saw the night that I was bleeding out in the Byer’s home. “Y/N, your…your eyes,” he looked, scared. All I could do was roll my eyes and scoff, “Wow, Steve. Is that the only insult that you can come up with for me? The fact that I have a huge ass scar on my eye? Look everyone, King Steve has never seen someone with a scar before!” I was still yelling.
Steve walked towards me, grabbed my shoulders and turned me towards the mirror, “No, not your EYE Y/N, your EYES”. I almost jumped at my reflection as Steve and I both looked at my face. I looked at my eyes and there, looking back at me were dark, scarlet colored eyes that you would see in the movies. At the same time, as if our minds were connected for only a mere moment, Steve and I whispered “what the fuck”.
I backed up from the mirror and almost tripped over Steve as he was standing right behind me, still analyzing what he was looking at. “What… are you?” He said as the end of his sentence trailed off and his voice got softer. His eyes squinted at me as he tried to get a closer look at my face. I would’ve been offended but he was only voicing the words that I was thinking. I was shaking at the sight of my own reflection as I closed my eyes as tightly as I could, hoping that when I opened them again, the red color would be gone, and my pretty (eye color) eyes would be staring back at me in the mirror again. And thankfully when I opened them, the red was gone. Steve was still behind me, stunned. The boy had no words as I took a deep breath, dug into my pocket and placed Steve’s key on the sink in front of him. I barged out of the locker room and started walking as fast as I could, but was distracted by Steve’s voice behind me yelling “Y/N, wait!” I kept walking. “Y/N!!!” fuck. I kept walking and tears were filling up my eyes. He had his key, now Steve Harrington and I never had to speak again.

Steve Harrington:

————————————————————————
I couldn’t believe that I was in Steve’s car driving him home. I was happy that he agreed to let me get him home safe, but did he deserve it? Yes, of course, he deserved it. Everyone deserves to be home safe after a long night of drinking. As I was driving, my thoughts felt like they were running a hundred miles per hour. I couldn’t stop picturing the soft expression on his face when I begged to take him home. I finally was snapped out of my thoughts when I heard sniffles from the backseat. I looked in the rearview mirror and saw a puffy, red-eyed Steve Harringon staring out the window.
“Are you doing okay?” I asked him, worried that he was feeling nauseous.
“What?” Steve said, “Yeah, I, I’m fine,” No he wasn’t. His response to my sincere question was pushed out of his chest through tears, with a slight voice crack at the end.
“You don’t look fine, Steve,” There was a long, suffocating silence as I waited for what he was going to say next. Before he could get any words out, Steve started to cry. A real cry that had audible sobs. Oh god, a drunk cry. Finally, Steve choked out an “I am so so sorry, Y/N,” huh? “What do you mean, Steve?” I was staring at him with furrowed eyebrows through the rearview mirror, trying my hardest to pay attention to the busy road in front of me. “I called you something mean,” Oh this poor boy is so drunk, was I really getting an apology right now? “Yeah, that uh, that one stung Harrington,” I knew these were drunk words, but every ounce of my being wanted to believe that the words coming out of his mouth were sincere. “You are beautiful, Y/N,” beautiful? “and I think your scar is sick.” What was happening in this car? The goosebumps were back. But these ones felt different. I wasn’t angry at Steve, so why was I feeling this way? I was trying to figure out where this new feeling was coming from when, “You and Munson are cute,” came from the back seat. I couldn’t help the laugh that escaped my mouth. “Oh no, Steve,” I said with humor in my voice, “Eddie and I are just friends.”
“Oh, I just thought cause, I don’t know, I have heard him call you ‘babe’ before,” Ah yes, the term of endearment my beloved best friend chose to call me when I told him that I have never had a nickname from a friend before. “He only calls me that because he is my best friend, it really doesn’t mean what you think Stevie.” He smiled. A small, sweet smile that looked like it was sparked by the nickname I called him. “Oh, right.” And then, silence. The rest of the car ride was spent in silence, but not an uncomfortable one as I could see Steve falling asleep leaning against the window of the back seat. This silence also gave me a reason to think about what has happened in the last 10 minutes that I have been driving. Steve Harrington called me beautiful.
As I pulled up to Steve’s house and was preparing to get out of the car, I heard snoring. Great. I got out of the car with a deep sigh escaping my lips as I was not ready to wake up a sleepy Steve. I opened the door to reveal Steve’s limp body which had thankfully moved since leaning against the window. Catching Steve in my arms wasn’t on my itinerary for the night, but yet again, nothing that happened that night was.
“Steve,” I whispered to grab his attention. Nothing. “Steve,” I said a bit louder, and still, nothing. “STEVE,” he finally woke up and looked at me with a smile, “Y/N? What are you doing at my house?” Dear lord. “Steve, you’re drunk and I drove you home, come on let’s get you inside,” Steve’s smile never faded as he looked at me through his squinty eyes. “Oh yeahhhhh, that’s so nice of you, you’re like the best person ever,” he said as he clumsily climbed out of the car. I put his arm around my shoulder and walked him up to his front door and that’s when it hit me, why the fuck did I drive Steve here with his car and not my own? Now I was going to have to call Eddie to come to get me and that meant more time with my favorite person in Hawkins, not. Steve looked down at my face “Let, lemme get my keys” he said and he started digging through his pockets. He was not as coordinated as he wanted to be and his keys, along with other things flung out of his pocket. He went to bend down and grab them before stumbling and grabbing my arm with an exaggerated “woahhhh,” leaving his mouth. I laughed and told him I got it as I picked everything off the floor for him.“Which key is for the door?” I asked still grinning, “Mmm, that one,” he pointed to the correct one and I went to unlock the door but realized my hands were full with all the stuff Steve dropped, and put everything but the keys in the pockets of my tiny white shorts. Steve started to walk inside but bumped aggressively into one of the side tables in his family’s living room. “Okay clumsy, sit down before you break anything,” I said to him with a smile on my face. He obliged and layed on the couch but I could tell he wasn’t doing great. “I need to call Eddie to come to get me, Steve, do you need anything?” He looked up at me again with those caramel eyes, butterflies. “Water,” was all he said. “Yeah, of course.” I brought him a glass of water and sat down at the foot of the couch, “Anything else?” I asked one more time. “Nuh-uh,” Steve said as he closed his eyes and cuddled into the couch deeper. “Okay, I’ll be right back, Harrington” I started to walk away when I heard the smallest, “Okay, Nancy” come from Steve’s mouth. I paused in my tracks and felt an energy surge through my fingertips. I balled my hands into fists due to the new sensation in my hands and for a few seconds, all I could focus on was how weird my fingers felt until I heard Steve say “Nancceee,” His voice shook me out of my trance as I shook my arms loose and I walked into the kitchen to call my best friend to come to pick me up.
The phone was ringing for an uncomfortable amount of time before I finally heard Eddie’s voice on the other end of the phone. “Hello?”
“Eddie, it’s Y/N, I am at Steve’s and fucking brought his car instead of mine, will you please come pick me up?” I heard a sigh, “You know, I love you Y/N, but you’re kind of dumb” Eddie says as he laughs, “Yes, Munson, I know. Now please come get me before Steve Harrington drives me insane,” I whispered at the end so Steve didn’t hear me. Eddie agreed immediately. “Of course, babe, see you in ten,” He hung up before I could say anything else and I hung the phone back up on the wall. I walked back into the living room to see Steve surprisingly still awake. Eyes open, just staring at the wall. “Eddie is on his way to get me, Steve. Can I help you get anything else?” Why was I still helping him? “I am so cold,” Steve said. “Oh, um-okay. Where do you guys keep your blankets?” I never thought I would actually be inside Steve’s house before and it was all new territory for me. Steve didn’t have to use any words as he pointed to a basket of blankets in the corner of the room. Wow, so I am dumb and blind. I grabbed him a blanket and fluffed it out and put it on top of him. “Thank you,” he looked so… human. Just a sleepy, messy-haired teenage boy sprawled out on the couch in front of me. This wasn’t the Steve Harrington that everyone held on a pedestal. I snapped myself out of my thoughts and sat in the armchair across from the couch that Steve was on so I could wait for Eddie. The blanket must have helped Steve relax, as I watched his eyes flutter shut and shortly after heard him snoring the same way he did in the car only a little while ago. That was my cue to leave Steve’s house and I decided to just wait for Eddie outside. Only a few minutes later Eddie pulled up and I have never gotten into a car faster in my life.
“So, how was your time with Harrington? Amazing, I presume?” I looked at Eddie and rolled my eyes, “Oh yeah, that was the best Halloween of my life, thanks for asking!” Eddie laughed, “But honestly, it could have been worse?” I said while shrugging my shoulders. Eddie looked surprised, “Oh yeah?” “Well you know, besides him calling me Nancy at one point when I was taking care of him, I would say it went pretty…okay.” Eddie wrinkled his nose at what I was saying, “Yikes babe, you think he will remember tonight? Like, at all?” I sighed, “Who knows.”
The car ride was short and was a comfortable silence for both of us. I was exhausted after this crazy fucking night. Eddie dropped me off at my car which was still parked near Tina’s house. I got out of Eddie’s car and thanked him a bunch of times before each of us ended the conversation with a “love ya” and Eddie drove off. Driving home that night didn’t feel real. Everything Steve said to me was replaying over and over. How did we go from “scar face” to “you are so beautiful” in the span of only a few hours?! When I got home, I was finally able to take that disgusting stained white corset off. The last thing I did before getting into bed that night was stare at myself in the mirror and slowly a smile appeared on my face as I laughed to myself, “Yeah, I guess my scar is pretty sick”.

warnings: cussing, drinking, smoking weed, mean steve </3, sexy halloween costume (LOL). I think that’s it.
A/N: hi cuties. I really love this chapter and I hope you all do too. huge shoutout to my best friend who helps me edit this fic. it wouldn’t exist without her. happy reading, and I hope you enjoy!!
————————————————————————
There has been radio silence from Nancy ever since that night. It was the night of Tina’s party and all the upper class-men were invited to her Halloween Bash of the year. I knew that Nancy was going to be there, but I just couldn’t bring myself to accept that I would have to ignore the girl that I almost sacrificed my life for. As I looked in the mirror of my vanity table, the scar on the left side of my face reminded me of the events of that night. It was a line that was perpendicular to my eyebrow and eye and almost looked as if it went straight through my (eye color) irises. It stung with heat when I would think about what happened. As I started to cover it with makeup, my mom walked in.
“It isn’t so bad, you know?”
“It’s hideous.” I hated it. Not only did it ruin my face, but it was a reminder.
“I don’t know, you look pretty badass to me, honey.” She looks over at my costume for the night “I think if Princess Leia had a scar through her eye, she would be a lot cooler.”
“Sexy Princess Leia, Mom,” I say pointing to the white fishnets and corset that lay with my blue lightsaber prop.
“Right, Sexy.” My mom wasn’t excited about my version of our favorite Star Wars character, but I am 18 so she knew she didn’t have much say on what I wear outside of the house. As she stood up to leave the room she said “Just make sure you do her buns right and remember to have fun!”
This was my first real outing since I got my scar and makeup didn’t cover it as much as I wanted it to so I was terrified. With my whole costume on, I was able to look in the mirror and feel… beautiful. I can’t remember the last time I felt confident with myself. With this newfound and hopefully not short-lived confidence, I was ready for Tina’s party, no matter who I bumped into there.
When I pulled up to Tina’s party, I could hear the music almost a block away. The butterflies in my stomach were going crazy and my body was shaking the same way it did a year ago when I was on my way to Jonathon Byer’s house. When I walked into Tina’s house, I felt heads turn to look at me. It was like eyes around the room were piercing my skin. Was I showing too much off? No, it is Halloween. This moment felt like forever until I felt someone grab my arm. When I turned around, it was Tina offering me a drink.
“Y/N you look hot as fuck!”
“Thank you!” I said, not knowing if she was telling me the truth or not.
“Have the time of your life tonight, and try to keep all bodily fluids in the bathroom tonight for the sake of my parent’s carpet! Thanks!” She half shouted so that I could hear her over the crowd of people in her living room as she walked away from me.
Great… now what? I guess I could call Ed-
“KING STEVE IN THE HOUSE!” My head turns so fast to face the front door as I see Nancy and Steve walking inside. Of course, he would make an entrance like that.
I felt my face grow red. I felt like I was going to puke. The sight of them made me sick or was it the drink that Tina gave me?
Nancy locked eyes with me and immediately grabbed Steve’s arm and led him to the kitchen. I don’t know what was in that drink, but I followed right behind them.
“Hey, guys.” That was all I could say even though I had enough courage to say something in the first place. Why couldn’t it have been more than that? I probably looked like a freak. Nancy and Steve were dressed as people from Risky Business, very conservatively might I add, as I had more skin on display than most people standing in the kitchen.
“Y/N? Wow, you look stunning. Fuck, look at your eye. Looks like the hospital I brought you to did a really good job fixing you up.” That made my whole body heat up with anger.
“Oh yeah! The one you so conveniently dropped me off at to ensure no blood would end up in your precious car!”
That seemed to catch Nancy’s attention and she quickly turned her head to look at him; “You dropped her off Steve?” Steve’s face grew pale. “Uh - Well… Ya know- I…” He couldn’t stop stuttering. Did Nancy really not know that I was left alone that night? “Look Nance BOOZE! Ya know, the reason we are here, to get drunk, not to reminisce with scar face.” And at that moment, every ounce of confidence left my body. How could he say that to me? “Yeah… booze,” Nancy said as she walked away with him. She turned her head to look at my stunned face as she mouthed the tiniest “I’m sorry”.
For the next few hours, I didn’t even want to drink. The thought of putting alcohol into my body sounded like a recipe for disaster, so I filled a red solo cup with water as I danced with a few different people in the common area of the house. Suddenly, I heard arguing coming from the kitchen and recognized my old best friend’s voice immediately. As I walked towards the voices to see what was going on, it felt like Nancy came out of nowhere as she bumped into me and her red spiked punch spilled all over the both of us. We both had tears welling up in our eyes as we looked at our chests covered in dark red and back up to one another’s faces. In just a second Nancy ran upstairs as I ran to the downstairs bathroom that was right by the kitchen.
“I am a fucking idiot,” I said as I vigorously tried scrubbing the red color out of my white corset. I did this for five minutes until I heard a knock at the door.
“O-One second,” I choked out in between sobs.
“Y/N, babe, it's me” I immediately felt at peace as I heard my best friend’s voice on the other side of the door.
“Eddie?” I opened the door to Eddie Munson’s puppy dog eyes trying to search my face for what happened. “Where were you?!” I was so mad he wasn’t here earlier, none of this would have happened if he were here. “I stopped for a gram,” Eddie says as he closes the bathroom door behind him and enters holding up a Ziploc bag with marijuana in it. “Wow Munson, once again choosing weed over your best friend.”
“Well, not necessarily, if I got the weed for my best friend, right?” I cracked my first smirk of the night. “God, Eddie, you should’ve seen me when I first got here tonight. I- I felt like I was on top of the world,” I said as I sat down on the edge of the bathtub. He followed my lead and sat next to me as he grabbed my hand “I bet you looked beautiful,” I smiled again and was finally calm enough to tell him what happened. Eddie was fuming. His eyes turned dark and probably would have killed Steve if he was in the room with us. “I’m so sorry, babe,” he took a slight pause, I could tell he was trying to choose his words carefully. “Look, let’s get you out of this tiny bathroom and try to finish this night on a good note, shall we?” Eddie says as he stands up and holds out his hand for me to take it. “Eddie, look at me. I can’t go out there with a huge red stain on me,” “Sure you can! Your version of Princess Leia is sexy AND got shot,” I finally grabbed his hand as I agreed with him, “gory, I like it.” He pulls me to my feet and we exit the bathroom and make our way to the couch in the living room.
It didn’t take long for Eddie to get high off of his ass while I decided to remain sober for the rest of the night. It also wasn’t long after Eddie and I came out of the bathroom that we saw Nancy run down the stairs and into the arms of Jonathan Byers before getting in his car and leaving the party completely. “Well, I guess Harrington isn’t getting any pussy tonight after all,” Eddie sheepishly said while cracking up at his own joke. As much as I wanted to laugh with him, I couldn’t help but get stuck in my thoughts and think about what could’ve gone down in that upstairs bathroom. I hated Steve Harrington but I still loved Nancy Wheeler and hoped to god that my presence at that party didn’t just ruin their relationship. I slapped Eddie’s arm to get him to stop laughing as we saw the most pitiful, distraught Steve Harrington basically dragging himself down Tina’s stairs.
“Man, Steve must be really… really deprived of some action,” He deserved it. Steve deserved to be made fun of for how he looked right now after how he treated me tonight, but I couldn’t joke back with Eddie right now. Why couldn’t I joke back? I watched as Steve walked with his head pulled as close to his chest as he could as he walked out of the party towards his car. I knew how much he had been drinking that night and couldn’t believe he was leaving. I started to stand up and Eddie immediately pulled me back onto the couch while holding my arm, “Where are you going?!” He asked me with almost a demanding tone. “Steve is probably drunker than half the people at this party and that’s saying a lot,” Eddie looked up at me with his eyebrows furrowed and an ‘okay, and?’ look was plastered all over his face. I rolled my eyes at him, “What kind of Good Samaritan would I be if I let a reckless 19 year old drive drunk in our small town?” Eddie’s face softened and after a few seconds he let go of my arm, I gave him a small smile as I stood up off the couch to chase after Steve. Out of breath from running, I yelled out “Steve!” He turned around and looked at me with confusion and then made the most surprised face, eyes wide with shock, but also full of sadness.
“Can I help you?” He questioned my presence but he couldn’t even look me in the eyes.
“Steve, you can’t drive like this,” I say with a pleading voice. “And why is that, Y/N?” He didn’t sound angry, just annoyed. “You’re drunk as fuck, Steve. You barely made your way down the stairs inside. Please, let me drive you home,”
“Why would you want to drive me home?” “Look, I owe you one a-after that night,” He looked like he could’ve started to cry. “I don’t deserve it Y/N, just pretend that you didn’t see me,” that angered me. Steve made me so angry. Maybe I should just let him get in his car and drive away. But I knew I would never be able to forgive myself if anything happened to him all because I was too petty to take him home. “Steve, please let me help.” The way I said the word help must have sparked something in him, maybe it reminded him of the night I was only able to choke out that word before he finally agreed to take me to the hospital. His caramel eyes softened the same way my best friend’s did and said “Yeah, okay, you can drive me home,” He goes to sit in the passenger seat as I hold out my hand to him. “Oh hell no. You have lost passenger privileges Stevie boy. Maybe next time you should be a little nicer to ‘scar face’ and you would be able to sit in the comfy front seat, get in the back,” Steve looked up in my eyes for the first time that since I ran after him, there was a mix of guilt and shock behind them as he accepted his defeat, closing the car door of the passenger side and getting into the back seat. I took a deep breath before getting into the driver’s seat of Steve Harrington’s beloved car.

Scarlet | Chapter 1
Pairing: Steve Harrington x Reader
Summary: After a falling out with her childhood best friend Nancy Wheeler due to her hatred for Steve Harrington, Y/N goes on a journey of discovering she has powers and that the goosebumps she gets around Steve Harrington aren’t actually from hatred. Though these new found powers are difficult to deal with, nothing is harder than dealing with the creatures of the upside down.
SLOW BURN AF
TW: none really, just mentions of gore and some cussing.
word count: 805
A/N: hi everyone. I know the summary doesn’t explain very well where this fic is going but it’s the best way I could put it at the moment. this is my first time writing fan fiction so I hope it is enjoyable! I only have like 1 1/2 chapters written for this but I already really enjoy how it’s coming along!! lemme know what you all think <3 happy reading!
———————————————————————— It was my favorite time of year. October in Hawkins, Indiana was one of the most beautiful sights ever. Autumn leaves fall and color the ground in a beautiful rainbow of oranges, yellows, and reds while the cool breeze hits my skin in a way that covers my body in goosebumps. The kind of goosebumps you get when you are so in love that shivers take over your body or when you feel so angry that you can’t stop shaking. I’ve only had that feeling a few times, and they always seem to happen around one person: King Steve Harrington. And no, not because I am in love and he gives me the shivers or makes butterflies fly around in my stomach, he actually makes my stomach turn with hatred.
Nancy Wheeler was my best friend. I met her in the 3rd grade when I moved to Hawkins. She introduced me to Barb Holland and we became the golden trio from there on out until our junior year of high school when Nancy Wheeler and Steve Harrington became an inseparable pair. Everything came crashing down the night of Steve’s party where Barb went missing. I refused to go to the party and Nancy has blamed Barb’s disappearance on me ever since. Instead of admitting her wrongs of that night, Nance chooses to always bring up the fact that I could have protected Barb that night if I had just been there. Countless arguments led one thing to another and Nance and I haven’t spoken since the night when she called me in complete and utter fear.
Last year I wasn’t involved in the battle with the Demogorgon until the very last night, when I was trapped in the Byer’s house with Nancy, Jonathan, and Steve. Nancy called me in tears that night, begging for my help, and the little 8-year-old inside of me couldn’t say no, no matter how scared I was driving to the Byer’s house that night. Remember the shivers you feel when you get angry or the ones you feel when you are in love? Multiply that by 100 and that is how I felt on that night. And with just my luck, I was the only one that walked out of that house injured mentally and physically.
In a split second when the skinny tall creature approached Nancy, it felt like my body moved faster than my mind and I ended up in between her and the Demogorgon. As I was losing consciousness from a brutal hit to the head, all I remember hearing was arguing and feeling myself land in the arms of Steve.
“You have to get her out of here, Steve! Fuck, she wasn’t even supposed to be here, you’re not supposed to be here, Steve.”
“I barely know her Nance, you think I want her blood all over my passenger seat? She is your friend, you can take her to the hospital.”
“Steve, get out of my house, and take her with you.” Said Jonathan right before I completely blacked out.
After a few seconds of darkness, all I remember is opening my eyes and seeing red. A dark scarlet color that would usually make me pass out at the sight of it.
“Steve?” Was all I could mutter out as I could feel the blood leaving my body.
“Y-Yeah?” Said a shocked Steve to see that I was awake.
“Help.” And with that Steve Harrington swept me off the floor and brought me to his car.
My face looked mutilated because of all the blood that was on it, and Nancy demanded that Steve took me to the hospital. He agreed, and that was it. Steve Harrington was redeeming himself after all his years of tormenting in order to keep his title as “King Steve” in school. After what felt like the longest car ride of my life, all he did was pull up to the front of the hospital and say: “I hope your eye is okay, I’ll be thinking about you”, I sat there for a second processing the sweet words that were coming out of Steve’s mouth, there was a silence in the car that felt suffocating until Steve said “You should probably get out of the car before you bleed out” and then a chuckle left his lips. To say I was stunned was an understatement. There I was, basically blinded by some demon creature that I didn’t even know about three hours ago, being dropped off at an unknown hospital to fend for myself. “Right, thanks.” Was all I could say as I stepped out of Steve’s car while cursing my inner child for wanting to save the girl that has ignored me ever since her fling with Steve started. Ever since I wished that night was just a bad dream.
