🎮 Team Free Will and Mario Kart
Sam Winchester
Either plays with the princesses, Yoshi, or Toad. The princesses tower over everyone else - just like him, and to switch it up he'd sometimes pick Yoshi or Toad 'cause they're cute.
If he's playing Mario Kart World, he'd prefer their original designs over the different costumes - but if he's playing a race and passes one of the food bags, he'd still take it just to see what kind of costumes the characters get.
Overly not that competitive, but you bet there'll be a rivalry between him and Dean. Suddenly he knows where all the shortcuts are. Pure coincidence.
If he's playing by himself - it's just a quick Grand Prix to relax. But if he's playing against Dean, he'll make sure he has the best character-vehicle combination (will spend time googling the best combinations of vehicle, wheels and glider for Mario Kart 8).
Not the biggest fan of 200cc or time trials. He'd rather do a classic race where he doesn't fly out of the corners when he brakes too late. If he really feels like letting off some steam, he might even pick 50cc just to admire the scenery or learn the map.
Dean Winchester
Plays all the heavyweight characters for the speed boost only. Out of all heavyweight characters his favorite is Bowser.
If he's playing Mario Kart World, he'd definitely play the more "stupid" characters too - the bee, the dolphin (specifically with the matching dolphin motorcycle),...
Doesn't really care all that much for the vehicle - especially in Mario Kart 8 when having to choose vehicle, wheels and glider. Will glance at the stats to see if his speed and acceleration are okay, but other than that? Pure skill, baby.
When playing Mario Kart World, he'd spend some time in free roam collecting costumes just so his Bowser can look even cooler. He doesn't really care about the other characters' costumes. Just give him the big turtle in an even bigger outfit with an even bigger bike or car and he's off.
Competitive. Competitive. Competitive. Refuses to play against CPU's because winning against computers doesn't really give him the satisfaction. But throw him in an online lobby - or even worse, against Sam - and he won't take anything lower than first place.
Despite his competitiveness, he keeps forgetting that shortcuts exist because they're usually a little hidden. So when he's peacefully cruising in first place and Sammy appears behind him - he'll throw in a couple curse words and accusations of cheating.
Castiel
Which button is jump?
He tries his best, he really does, but he doesn't really get the point. You race, you get your score, you get a fancy trophy and maybe some new cars, but it's all virtual - so why put in the effort?
When he does play, he'd just play as Mario. It's called Mario Kart, why would there be so many characters to choose from? A baby version, sure. Metal Mario, why not. But where do all these other characters come from?
If someone were to explain the concept of Mii's for him and maybe make him one, perhaps he'd try playing as his own Mii. But even that feels unfamiliar because it just looks like his vessel, not his actual self.
Don't even get him started on the vehicle screen. He just picks the standard kart, with the standard wheels and the standard glider. Maybe when he's feeling feisty he'll pick the standard bike.
He constantly has to switch between looking at the TV screen and his joycon to make sure he's pressing the right button just to dive off the track and have the stranger on a cloud fish him back up.
Should probably stick to board games.
Jack Kline
By far the most excited person to play the game. He literally does not care whether he's first, last or somewhere in between - as long as he gets to join.
He will try out every. Single. Character. Does not care about the weight class or stats - when he gets so many options, why not try them all at least once?
Absolutely ecstatic that he can turn himself into a Mii too. And while he might not 100% understand everything - will appreciate every effort to explain the controls and mechanics of the game.
When it comes to vehicle customization, once again doesn't care about the stats. He'll pick what looks best to him.
Once he's hooked on the game, he'll definitely spend time by himself practicing. Just teach him how to use the Switch and he's off.
