Trigger Warning
The following pages will contain discussions of self-harm. I won’t be showing any scars nor describing details or discussing how the injuries were done. It’s only talking about self-harm and why it might happen.
I don't wanna deter anyone who's experienced self-harm in the past from reading this next part. I think it’s important to have some representation in media instead of shying away from the topic and that’s what I’m trying to do. If you’ve experienced triggers from NSSI-related content in the past, I’m encouraging you to connect with some professional supports and discuss the topic with them to ensure understanding and safety before engaging in the following content.

Note
Hey, thanks for the self harm warning, I appreciate it a lot. So from what I understand, monsters don't bleed, but they produce dust instead. Still I have to ask, is there gonna be any depiction of blood in relation to the self harm? I'm sorry if it's an obvious/stupid question. I love this comic so far and I would like to keep reading it, but I want to be prepared just in case.
Some blood, but not in relation to the self-harm.

Hey, y’all.
So, I wanna thank everyone for being patient as this comic has been pretty quiet over the winter months. I’m doing my best to stay busy and I’ve been chipping away at progress over the past several months. That being said, we’re looking at either mid-February or early March for the return of Papyrus in Practice. I’m really excited for the release of this next segment of the story and I hope everyone enjoys it and, maybe, gets something out of it. In any case, I hope to see y’all soon!

IT'S WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY, FOLKS!!!!
So, I wanted to post something a bit different!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A common prompt I use with my clients is a positive affirmation jar which is a project in which the client decorates a jar and writes positive affirmation on slips of paper to keep in the jar. In the case that I run out of jars, I make boxes out of paper. A couple weeks ago, I had an idea while and that was to fuse this prompt and Superhero Therapy.
Superhero therapy was initially conceptualized as a form of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy that used superheroes or other characters from media to facilitate the acceptance of oneself and one’s emotions and the commitment to move forward.
Clients engaging in superhero therapy may be prompted to reflect on their own experiences in life and identify a “superhero” they may relate to or look up to. “Superheroes” don’t have to be the cape-wearing people with superhuman abilities. They can be any characters we find in any media. What defines a “superhero” in superhero therapy is a character that you can relate to on some level and one that possesses strength, wisdom, or other traits you admire.
Especially when diving into the topic of change, clients might be encouraged to imagine: if that “superhero” showed up at the exact moment you needed them the most, what kind of message would they tell you? This prompt takes that part and creates a physical object that can relay those messages when you need it most.
Basically, what I did is I thought of characters that I felt I could relate to or look up to. These are my “superheroes”, characters that have strength, wisdom, or another trait that I admire. I drew these characters out and collaged them onto a box.
After the box was done, I wrote short lines that each character might say to me during times when I need encouragement the most. I made sure to label each one so I knew who was talking. I'm still adding some messages, so it's almost "done".
Since I tend to need encouragement the most when I’m at work, I put it in my office!
It was a fun project and I wanted to share it with y’all.
Quick disclaimer, this isn’t therapy nor any kind of substitute for therapy. This is more of a project I did to essentially play-test a prompt. Still, I think other folks could benefit from doing it, too. We’ve all got our own self-defeating thoughts rampaging through our brains and, sometimes, we need a reminder from our inspirations to direct us towards our values. Superhero therapy is a lot about naming and recognizing our unhelpful thoughts as thoughts. Then, we make the commitment by pursuing our values through the characters we admire
Characters from left to right:
Toriel(Toby Fox's Undertale)
Papyrus(Toby Fox's Undertale/Papyrus in Practice)

Papyrus in Practice Update
Hey y’all,
It’s been a hot second since this comic posted and I wanted to send out another update on progress. There’s been some, but not as much as I’d of liked. This summer was a bit busier than I anticipated between conventions, work, and my cat needing surgery from swallowing a string(she's doing okay now). I’ve got some stuff done and I’ll fill y’all in.
First 3 pages are done. Coloring, shading, pretty much all of it. I started shading on page 4. Pages 5, 6, and 7 have flats done on the foreground, but no shading. I’m anticipating I’ll be able to re-use a lot of the backgrounds from the third page since it’s the same scene. Line art has been started for page 8. Pages 9 and 10 have sketches, but no line art. To reiterate, I wanna have 10 pages completely done before I start posting again with line art completed for the remainder of the scene which I’m still not sure how long will be yet. This is definitely turning out to be the longest arc yet, it will most likely be at least double the length of arc 3 and might even be longer than the previous three arcs combined. It’s THAT long!
Hope y’all are doing well. I know school must be starting again for a couple of you and I wish y’all the best of luck!

Papyrus in Practice Update/Convention
So, it’s been a bit over a month since I called hiatus and I wanted to fill y’all in on what I’ve been doing and give an idea of where progress is at.
I also wanted to let you know that I’ll be going to Anime Midwest from July 5-7 and I wanna know who else is going. TBH, I’m mainly using this update as an excuse to say I’m going to Anime Midwest and if you’re going I wanna know cuz I like meeting people with shared interests.
So. Update.
First two pages are in the same spot as they were before with the first being done and the second having flats but no shade. The next three pages have line art done and awaiting flats. The remaining five pages that I want to have done before I start posting again have finished sketches, but no line art.
I’ve got really rough thumbnails for the remaining pages which are the ones that need to have finished line art. I’ve got a draft of the script for the final scene, but I’ve found myself not quite satisfied with the ending dialogue. That’s the perks of having different pages in varying stages of completion, though. I can make progress while still giving myself plenty of time to sit and mull about what I’ve got a bit longer.
