This is a little animation I did a few weeks ago. The colours could have been worked on a bit but I felt a sense of urgency to get this done. Oh yeah, Timmy and Boo: Dog Fight Ringers Part 2 is almost done. I just have to get a poster done, my trailer complete and literally one shot revoiced and lip synced and BOOM you got yourself a cartoon.

Getting cooked.

This is a bit of animation I found this morning and decided to dust off. I was having a go at doing a paper cut style animation in After Effects. It’s not perfect but I love the way it looks regardless. - Xavier

I was really happy with how this electrocution shot turned out. In particular I was super stoked with the sort of static in the background. Essentially I recorded some foot age of a pile of random drawing and doodles, the crap around my dirty electric stove, and some wall textures. I then layered that footage in after effects and warped them a bunch. I then exported the video as a PNG sequence. Brought it back into after effects and used the ‘random()’ expression to mix up the frames. You can probably see what I did after that. Later I realised I didn’t actually have to export the static footage as a PNG sequence but at least now I have some pretty cool distorted images. I added a few below. Check em out if you like :)

A bit of context: My dad’s electric lawn mower exploded whilst I was trying to sort out my backyard for rent inspection. What should have been a 30 minute job turned into a 3 hours of buying my very first motorised lawn mower and trying to figure out how to put the thing together (pro tip: add oil to the lawn mower). When that thing was finally going boy howdy did I feel like the king of my suburban jungle. I was practically beating my chest in triumph over my overgrown lawn.

A few illustrations from the Timmy and Boo pitch I put together over the weekend. You can see part 1 of the animated pilot here.

Timmy and Boo is inspired by cartoons from the 90s such as Ren and Stimpy, Duckman, early Simpson, and early Southpark. I'd also say there is a bit of an influence from Adult Swim cartoons. I hope you enjoy it.

I had a go at drawing a friend of mine’s cat. I gotta redraw it because it’s a bit blegh but I thought it was good enough to post. He’s like a 4th dimensional motor cyclist.

Decided to do some drawing this morning. Not a fan of the charcoal effect anymore (or potentially how I’m using it). Oh well. Here it is anyways.
