what "no sugar added" should mean: the natural sugars of the other ingredients like fruit are the only source of sweetness in this product
what is actually means: we added a fuckton of artificial sweeteners

"women can wear pants now. they can dress masc and it's fine"
body hair is seen as disgusting and wrong and sick and "too masc" on a woman still. Did we just forget that? not wearing makeup as a woman can prevent you from getting hired. this is absolutely ridiculous

ohhhh these are good, this is one of the best letterboxd fours I've ever seen. I've actually never seen a walk to remember, but it's on my very long "to be watched" list, so this has officially moved it up higher :)
I've gotten on here and ranted a lot lately because everything is making me angry, so I'm here to talk about my letterboxd four like I'm a celebrity on a red carpet because i love to talk about movies i love.
#1 is juno. i lovelovelovelove this movie, it came out in 2007 and you can tell it came out in 2007, which i love. late 90s-2000s films are the best. it's so sweet and so cute and it's a nice happy cry/feel good film. jennifer garner and jk simmons are wonderful in it. i love elliot page and michael cera so damn much. juno macguff is one of my favorite characters ever. i wish i had made this movie myself. no notes.
#2 is the secret life of walter mitty. listen, i know this movie is sort of ridiculous, but that's what i like about it, because through all of walter's ridiculous daydreams and fantasies, it's extremely earnest and has a great message. it's got a great cast, and i love ben stiller and anything he does. the life motto from this film has stuck with me for years, i took a film class last year and made a video essay revolved around it (I'm really proud of that video essay too 🫵🏻) i don't know, i just really like it. makes me stop and appreciate the world around me a little more.

#3 is obvi eternal sunshine. super basic of me, this is on like everyone's letterboxd four, but like. it's fucking good! it is one of the best films, not just of the 21st century, but probably ever. it is devastating, it's bittersweet. it's got kate winslet. it's got jim carrey, who is a national treasure, and who is damn good in a dramatic role. it makes me remember that if things hurt so bad to let go, then it was something worth remembering, even if it aches. and love is the most powerful thing in the world.
#4 is signs. i never see anyone talk about this movie, it's not the most popular of shyamalan's stuff, but i love it (i know there's plot holes, like why would aliens that are killed by water come to a planet that is mostly water. but i don't really care). my family and i have watched this movie a thousand times, so it's very nostalgic for me. we quote it all the time. the only way we watch it is from a disc that we taped it onto, so it's made up of six pixels, but that sort of makes it creepier. joaquin phoenix is a gem as always. and i love how it makes you think. I'm not a religious person, I'm hardly spiritual, but...what if everything wasn't a coincidence?
if you made it all the way through, thanks for reading, i like to talk about movies a lot and i really need to watch more. feel free to reblog with your favorite four. bye bye now

im going crazy you have GOT to decouple romance/amatonormativity and marriage in your mind. you have GOT to understand that marriage is a legal document that protects you from exploitation especially if you are a woman or a stay-at-home anything. it is not some evil unique to heterosexual people. it is a legal document that says 'this is who i want in my hospital room when i die, this is who i want to have my stuff when i die, THIS PERSON OWES ME RECOMPENSE IF THEY KICK ME OUT OF THE HOUSE I LIVE IN"
You are not immune to being taken advantage of by your partner if you are queer. do not wind up homeless because your garbage live-ins name is on the lease and they decided to drop you like hot coals.

"teens are prone to tantrums and are emotionally unstable" - okay, yeah, puberty is real, and emotional regulation is a difficult skill to learn. but also. any adult person would be pissed if their opinions were disregarded, they had no say in what happens to them, their emotions and feelings were downplayed and their privacy were intruded on.

i don't often engage in pop culture discourse, but people being mad about sabrina carpenter's new album cover is really fucking dumb. she sings about sex all the time. people were so excited for her new juno positions every show. but the minute she does something too crazy, they're turning on her. is this not her whole branding that everyone was going crazy for last summer? she gets on her hands and knees and has her hair pulled for a photo and everyone is saying that she's turned on all women and that it's degrading and dehumanizing and fetishizing abuse. she's not in pain. she's not being physically harmed. do these people not know that that's how some people like to have sex?
it all just seems very dumb and, once again, very misogynistic. women can have sex, but not like THAT, not anything even vaguely kinky or out of the norm. they can be sexually confident, but not like THAT, that's over-sexualization and objectification. and if she didn't have that as her album cover, people would have gotten sick of her not changing anyway. and if she did a complete 180, and changed everything about her music and her image, people would say she was a prude. and don't even get me started on how people say that this isn't a good model for young girls. sabrina carpenter isn't making music for young girls, she hasn't for a long time, and honestly, it's a parental failure if they're letting their kids listen to any of her songs beyond the singles that play on the radio.
there's, truly, no way for a woman to ever win. grow the fuck up and, please, for the love of god, leave women alone.
