I’m back! The next chapter should hopefully be ready by tomorrow, but here’s a lil sneak peak until then!

So, haven’t updated anything in a while, been trying to work through things, luckily my siblings are back in school so hopefully soon I can get things back on track

In the mean time, here’s something I made a couple months ago, an AU of my AU, I like to call it Paytale BRole Reversal

I have spent I don’t know HOW long trying to find a way to add images to Paytale on Ao3, and I fouND OUT HOW BUT I’VE TRIED THAT WAY ALREADY

What is it?

That first one’s new to me, but the rest is about what I think, too. I like to think that they do have a reason, or at the very least couldn’t help what they’ve become, if someone has to go the route of ‘merciless killer demon Chara’.

In Paytale, they do have reasons, they’re just not particularly good ones. Chara thinks they’re justified to act the way they do. So it’s partially that, and then the part that makes them a bit like Flowey, where they can’t help the way they feel/don’t feel

Opinions on Chara

I got a comment on my last chapter. Apparently they didn’t appreciate Chara being made the villain.

I’d like to say that in Paytale, Chara isn’t the villain. They’re an antagonist, but they’re not fully evil.

What I’d like to know is; What are you guys’ favorite/personal interpretations of Chara? Do you think they’re good, evil, or neither?

A wheezy giggle escaped Chara’s stolen throat. “They’re only gonna find one~”

Asgore growled, magic crackled in the air. “You will no longer terrorize my people, demon.”

It was too bad ghost Monsters couldn’t be dusted unless bonded to something corporeal. They would have loved to see what their remains looked like.

Oh well, plenty more to see. Right, Payton?

The pattering of footsteps approached from behind. Chara turned.

Oooh~ Look, what about them? Do you think their Dust will look like Alphys’, Payton?

Nonononono, stop it! Don’t!

“Yo!” Reese? Ron? Randy? Chara didn’t care- The Monster kid called out, stopping a few feet away. “Yo, Asgore told me to stay away from you. He said.. that you hurt a lot of people.” They paused. Chara didn’t answer. “But, yo, that can’t be true, right?!”

“Yo… why won’t you answer me?” They asked hesitantly. Chara stared. “A-a-and what’s with that weird expression…?”

Chara shambled toward them. They backed away, panic leaking into their face.

“Oh… oh man..” They stuttered.“Yo… y-you better stop r-right now! Cause, i-if you wanna hurt a-anyone else, you’re… y-you’re gonna have to go through me, first!”

Chara grinned and the world darkened. Their stolen voice croaked.

“In my way.” They struck.

The force of their strike, of their hate and anger, of their LV, broke straight through the solid red magic suddenly thrust in front of their target.

Chara’s rictus grin widened.

Asgore.

The Prince pushed the Monster kid further back and called out another trident.

“Go, child. Find your mothers.” He spoke, not breaking gaze with Chara.

“But-”

“Go, Riley!” The Monster kid whimpered and sprinted off. Asgore straightened, the gentleness he had shown now gone.

are the characters switched around in definite "pairs" (like how it's undyne and alphys, asgore and toriel, etc) or are they switched around by themselves? like how papyrus took the place of Frisk as the protag, frisk is (kinda) chara, the narrating ghost character, etc?

Yeah, most of the swaps are definite pairs. There are, however, swaps that don’t have a pair, like Papyrus. Chara and Frisk on the other hand… They’re kind of both? They both play Chara’s role as the 1st fallen human(s), and Frisk takes Chara’s role as tag-along ghost, while Chara takes Flowey’s, however there’s another that takes Asriel’s part, as well as the part of another character.

So it’s kind of a mix, most are pairs, some aren’t, and some are both.
