As one of the authors on your DNR list, do you have any suggestions for how to tag my work so that those with bottom dysphoria are adequately informed? I try to tag with this in mind (usually for the sex-specific acts), and while there's not much I can do about how my work is recommended in reader spaces, I absolutely don't want anyone stumbling into my work without being fully informed where I can help it.
Tagging specific acts and language/terms used to describe genitals/bodies is really helpful, and I do sincerely appreciate authors who do that. But really the issue is how others recommend the works, no caveats no warnings about potential dysphoria triggers, and as you said nothing can really be done about that.
Like I wish reader/recommendation communities where more aware of bottom dysphoric peeps but eh they aren't and I can't get mad at authors for behaviour of readers.

Listen, I understand where you’re coming from, but it’s not those authors’ fault for writing that. That’s what they want to write. There ARE books where transmascs top, if that’s what you’re looking for. Like “By the bootstrap” by Gemini Fletcher or “Touch-Starved” by Johannes T. Evans. Maybe start with these. Have you asked on places like reddit for book recs?/gen
Same book rec anon. I just remembered. Try the works of “Sirius” too. I cant remember which ones but sometimes their mc’s top. A lot of them are also t4t. I think it was either The devil owns primetime or gospel of the cuckoo. I don’t remember exactly
https://rey-rider.itch.io/hypatos-a-touch-of-dionysus-short-story
Thanks for understanding and my logical brain knows it's not those writers fault, but It's a bit demoralising to know that the type of transmasc nsfw most people want to create and consume does not include you (general you). And I've asked around on reddit and I'm always on the look out for transmasc stuff that isn't the usual roles, I even occasionally review things I find interesting.
And it's not strictly tops I'm looking for but basically anything that doesn't involve frontal penetration, so tops, anal only bottoms, sides. But thank you for the recommendations! I appreciate it.

so you mean to tell me that in a transmasc erotica anthology of OVER a dozen stories NINETEEN contributors. Every. Single. One is going to be the same piv "boyp*ssy" bottom shit? Holy hell rotted.
Basing this off "raw boyp*ssy" being a tagline in the marketing. I'll be happy to be proven wrong but I highly doubt it.

Due to starting my post-graduate program I won't have any time to be on here in any meaningful capacity. I've paused a lot of my leisure reading and don't really have the engery to review things for my PDB.
So yeah I'll be pretty inactive for most of the year

A Digital Phalloplasty Art Gallery
Was skulking about in the phallo reddit (as one does) and found this is in the comments, a collection of art depicting (NSFW obviously)and appreciating trans men and NBs with phalloplasty/phallo scars. Plus it properly credits the artists!
It's just so refreshing to see these, it shouldn't just be top surgery that gets to be valorised and abundantly represented in trans art!😤

TW: for talk of Tmasc pregnancy & frontal penetration, trans fetishisation
Wonder when trans men and other afab trans people will realise that fetishism isn't allyship. I've been sitting on this for at least a month but I saw a tiktok of a cis men gleefully and graphically talking/"joking" about how much he "loves" transmen/mascs, wants to fuck boypvssy and impregnate transmascs and "joke" about not taking responsibility because he's not "the father" the transmasc is and he'll just move on to "the next one". And joking about if that makes him a chaser so be it.
And the amount of trans men/mascs eating it up in the comments was wild. The way cis men can just come online and OPENLY state how they only see trans men & afab NBs as pvssy to fuck, impregnate and throw away and gullible idiots will be supporting them? the fuck???
It genuinely made me so sick I wanted to throw up and cry. This is what they see transmascs as and apparently nobody seemed to care.

Striking a Chord at Randy's by K.C. Carmine M/M (Trans M/Cis M)
Tumblr media
Idk gang...this one's bit unbalanced
Thoughts: If I was to describe this in terms of typical romance tropes it'll be; a (childhood) friends-to-FWBs-to-lovers bi awakening. I'm not someone who gets super into tropes but others are and might want to know.
A super exciting thing about this book is the series it's from; Diner Days. Diner Days is a multi-author contemporary trans romance "anthology" series that takes place in or involve a US 50s themed queer Diner called "Randy's", in some instalments the Diner is a more present location than others. All books in the series have at least one trans MC and a good chunk are t4t. It should be noted however that the series is weighted towards trans m/m & m/nb pairings, of the 11 books in the series only 2 are sapphic (f/f or f/nb) and there are no trans m/f pairings. Which is unfortunate for people looking for that type of representation.
EDIT: upon further research it turns out that there is one book; Aftercare at Randy's with a TF/NB/M, so there is technically on Transhet book although it's also F/Nb & M/NB
In theory this book should be (almost) everything I want in trans mlm, the tropes and kinks/sex acts, the relationship and personalities was coming up to be a cool 8-9/10 but the execution was just not it gang.
Simply put the writing wasn't good...When it comes to romance I have lowered standards for prose/writing, I don't expect lit-fic or even the average fantasy novel writing so I am lenient. Awkward phrasing in the narration, abuse of unrealistically verbose and introspective therapy speak in dialogue. And rather petty on my end misuse of the term "himbo"; the misogynistic/homophobic/toxic masculinity douchey gymbros at Trent's old gym will not be himbos! Himbos are nice! Also "muscle himbos" is redundant as himbo= buff anyhow, yeah it's petty but whatevs.
...We got strap sucking y'all!!! That alone saves this damn book lmao. So idc idc.
Which brings me to my next observation; the book was more explicit and had more kinks & fetishes in it than I was expecting. Like I went into this thinking it'll be some simple gay sex shit but Nope! Shit got wild as hell ☠ (positive).
Also massive props for the book acknowledging that vaginismus and HRT induced vaginal atrophy exist and will make frontal penetration painful and unpleasant.
A thing I apricated about the story is that both Trent and Charlie have goals outside of their relationship. From Charlie's music career to Trent getting the motivation to open his own inclusive gym. They do intersect with the romance and both are (obviously) supportive of the other's dreams. Another aspect I apricated was as positive and lowkey as this story was it didn't ignore the existence of homophobia. It's not "extreme" or hardcore and it fits with the vibe of the book...well vague spoilers but towards the end Charlie experiences something semi-based on anti queer bigotry. I do enjoy queer stories where bigotry doesn't exist or isn't acknowledged but sometimes I also like seeing the real shit. Although both their respective projects got achieved and wrapped up a bit too quickly. I won't necessarily fault the book for that, it's about novella length so there wasn't much space to go into detail, perhaps if the book was a bit longer, because there are books in this series double the length so it's not a case of wordcount restrictions.
Representation: white gay trans man MC, white bi/pan cis man MC, Lesbian Side characters, Trans woman side character
Terms Used: cock, t-dick/dick, packer, strap-on, ass/asshole, front hole
Sexual Content & Roles: Explicit sexual content. Strict top/bottom, trans top/cis bottom, size difference, Chastity kink/cock cage, orgasm denial, cum eating, felching, rimming, anal fingering, anal sex, nipple play, oral sex, light bondage, masturbation in front of partner, semi public sex, food play-kinda...lollipops were involved,
Potential dysphoric moments: N/A I guess
TW: mild references to/instances of homophobia, misogyny and toxic masculinity.
Rating: 5/10 🌟 Despite my less than glowing review, I do not dissuade others from picking up this book. It is a cute romance and those of us looking for trans men/masc tops can't be too picky.

atp I think...I'm done with jayvik. It's not even that I no longer like the ship I do...but gyatt dam the fandom has made it intolerable. Especially all the trans Viktor shit. I'm sorry I've long since gotten repulsed by the Smaller, paler, whiter, feminine(by fandom), designated bottom(by fandom) being consistently hit with the transmasc beam.
It would be tolerable if it wasn't so damn ubiquitous. Every where I turn it's bleating about "his pvssy, his womb his cervix his wittle grabbable waist". No amount of filtering can stop it from reaching my eyes; Ao3? untagged PIV, obscure meme tags for pussy/front hole shit, untagged preggo femboy tradwife shit, untagged trans viktor shit. Other apps are worse no tagging system at all, so i'm hit full frontal white boipvssy shit. So my only choice is to disengage completely
And the weird ass raceplay/racial fetish of it too, the pale smol breedable boipvssy femboy white bottom and the Big Brown Cock Latino Mandingo POC Brute cis alpha top. And I'm just too fat, and Black and bottom dysphoric to not get a little sick by it.
Crazy that this ship's fandom speed ran repeating the same played out 2000s yaoi M/M tropes.

We need to beat these types of cis women (AND men) to death with hammers FUCK YOU.
Anyway eternal my platonic love and kisses to trans bears tops and post phallo trans brothers & others. And 10 million years prosperity for people who draw/write that type of transmascs.
EDIT: @mercutio-escalator tagging to let you know I fvck heavily with your tags. Trans viktor shit genuinely makes me roll my eyes out of my skull and it's so frustrating how near impossible it is to find trans Jayce stuff (buff brown men can't be trans only white twinks are allowed to be 😑)

Pretty Dogs by Riley Nash M/M (Trans M/Cis M)
Tumblr media
Alright now we're cooking...
Thoughts: Was overall pretty good great even but there were some bits that soured my enjoyment.
Second in a series of contemporary BDSM romances with a focus on living in poverty and on the edges of society. Unlike Stripped, I've actually read the previous instalment(s) in this series. So I do have a better insight to all the characters and their whole thing. This is my preferred type of contemporary romance; where there's a bit of grit and realism where the characters problems go beyond a mean ex. It's not romantic suspense or "dark romance" but the characters are going through real shit while getting their loving romances too. It's not like I'm a hater of cozy/soft/no-low angst contemporary romances, just some grit is nice occasionally.
The friends-to-lovers was cute, the over possessiveness of the cis male LI/MC was...idk, was just there for me. It wasn't crazy alpha-hole toxic levels but it was slightly(majorly?) unhealthy co-dependency, which I guess makes sense for the characters and their situation. But it did make me go "calm down ngga nobody taking him from you 😭". However I wanted to knock their heads together with how oblivious the characters were prior to getting together. There was even the occasional lack of/miscommunication and argh imma beat they asses! I can forgive them for being slightly maladjusted 20 something year olds and I am not looking for Therapy speak unrealistic introspection and they did get there in the end. And no spoilers but there's something Beck does for Dallas that was sooo sweet and beautiful (even it did lead to the dreaded miscommunication)
I loved seeing the guys' friendship/found family, these dudes are bros for life and it was great seeing the other guys be so supportive and affirming of Dallas and his trans Identity. Which duh they're the MCs in a romance novel so they won't be bigots obviously, but putting together money to buy your trans bro a packer for Christmas or even helping him with his T shots goes beyond the basic trans accepting cis friend group.
Good news: First book in this review series with a trans man/masc of colour MC yippee! But I feel conflicted as Dallas was described and written comparatively more feminine/less masculine than the white cis male characters. And there is a history/trope of Asian men (East & South) being emasculated and feminised compared to white western men. It's not egregious but I'm particularly sensitive to these depictions and it's not like slightly femme twinky queer South Asian men don't exist IRL but eh. Also I "read" this in audiobook format, I appreciate the casting of a (white)transmasculine VA for Dallas' POV...I would've liked it even more if it was a transmasc South Asian VA but I understand those types of performers are in short supply so I won't hold it against the book/author.
All my love to Anjali Santra, Dallas' mother, she was such a great affirming mother and it was awful that she was trapped in an abusive relationship with a piece of shit who kicked out her son. Anyone who victim blames Ms Santra for "letting" Dallas be kicked out will die and go to hell IDC IDC! Also also it was nice to see the POC parent NOT be depicted as homophobic/transphobic and it's the white parental figure who is. Like I'm so tired of "Ethnic parent/family = queerphobic" lmao.
Asides the POC rep it was so refreshing to read about a bottom dysphoric trans man, where he very much desires bottom surgery and actively dislikes his natal parts but also being a limbo where due to his financial situation can never get it. He didn't want his front hole touched or acknowledged at all during sex so he was an anal only bottom. He even has a bit of a dysphoria breakdown during an intimate scene, which was good to see. Most depictions of trans sex is a bit of an idealised fantasy where any discomfort or dysphoria disappears when the clothes come off but I think it's important to depict the reality of a lot of trans peeps when it comes to sex. This book also introduced me to me the idea that there are some transmascs that can only cum/orgasm from vibrations so that's pretty cool.
Beck's gang thing confused me tbh. It was great that the author highlighted how young boys can be groomed into gang activities (not just with Beck but another side character) but I still don't know what he actually did in the gang? And why he was so attached to it.
Regarding the BDSM/Kink aspects, Primal/predator/prey kink and CNC stuff I'm neutral on, it was hot sure but not really my thing. To be honest the I prefer the kinks and dynamic of the couple from the first book.
Really the big things that soured me was the weird bits were in the cis MC/LIs POV chapters the trans guy was described as "tiny", "pretty" , "delicate" and feminine compared to the cis guy/s which icked me out. Also how Dallas(trans man) was called "boy" despite being 22 years old??? And worse other adult cis male characters that was 1-2 years younger than him were called "man" just weird and it ticked me off. And tbh there was no reason for the audience to know that a character started masturbating at NINE YEARS OLD, cuz that's crazy man! it was like one line but still I did NOT need that image in my head!
Representation: Dallas-Indian(as in South Asian ) mlm (might be pansexual) trans man MC, Beck-white cis gay man MC, white cis gay men side characters, 12 year old white trans boy side character(Calvin my baby🥺) , queer trans man author.
Sexual Content & Roles: Strict-ish; (occasional vers)Top cis man & (occasional vers)bottom trans man, multiple penetrative(anal) sex scenes, Dallas tops in one and bottoms in the others, anal sex, anal fingering, size difference, Oral, handjob, slight cumplay, Sextoys (vibrator, dildo), Primal predator/prey play, slight cnc, solo masturbation
Terms Used: Cock, dick, hole/ass, the other hole
TW: Transphobia (not from love interest or MC's friends), homophobia, misgendering, homelessness and poverty, gang activity/gang violence, dysphoria, mention of a character masturbating at 9 years old, references to forced/survival Prostitution.
Rating: 8.5/10 🌟 Great but not GOATed status.
