Takeomi has no answer for you. You laugh, that is on the cusp of sounding hysterical. “You really are just going to ignore me, aren’t you?” 

He doesn’t even give you a glance. Not in the way you want. What would you want him to do? To renounce Bonten? To remove himself from the layers of hell. He has it tattooed on him. The symbol of a curse. He will never leave. Just like how you will never fully leave his side. 

You’ve deluded yourself into thinking it wasn’t as bad as it could be; but it is. The evidence of it being insurmountable. Takeomi does not give you any insight on his state of mind. 

“Takeomi,” you murmur. “I need answers. Sano and even your brother are a part of this. What are you all trying to achieve?” 

He lights another cigarette, the movement of his hands tense. His eyes focus elsewhere, ahead of him. “Those are questions that could get you removed from my business.” He puffs out a bit of smoke, the rings dancing away from him. “Or worse. It could get you killed.”

I don't think Shin is as vocal about his feelings as he think he is. MC isn't a mind reader just bc he's their best friend but it's true that they do have intimacy issues in their (past) sexual relationships :')

Between "Don't touch the sleeping pills/they mess with my head" and "You love me so hard and I still can't sleep" and "And, ah, my love remind me, what was it that I said?/I can't help but pull the earth around me to make my bed" and "It's just that I fell in love with a war/nobody told me it ended", I went with Mitski's A Pearl for chp 13 (just for that first line fitting MC and Shin so much) but I'll use Florence & The Machine's Ship to Wreck for a different chapter, probably MC's backstory for obvious reasons jdjdk.
