A Simple Guide To Shufflemancy

I’ve decided to repost some of my more popular posts from Amino to here, in hopes it helps someone or maybe helps me find more shifting mutuals <3

What is shufflemancy?

Shufflemancy is a form of divination that involves using the shuffle feature to get an answer to a question. Many people (including myself) have used it to contact their DR friends, family, or significant others.

What do I need to do this?

An electronic device (phone, computer, tablet, etc,.)

A playlist (shufflemancy playlists are available online, but using your own is highly recommended)

Things to Consider

Shufflemancy isn’t a form of witchcraft. However, it is a form of divination which can be against some religions!

If you have a themed playlist (ie. happy, sad, love...) your answer may not be accurate, as there’s no variety for the person you’re contacting to choose from.

Sometimes people in your desired reality are dramatic. They’ll be overly negative at times by choosing a bad song in hope to get you to shift to them faster, so take these songs with a grain of salt.

You may not always get answers. Whether the person you’re trying to contact isn’t in the mood or just plain doesn’t want to answer it, assume this when you get a song that makes no sense.

Nothing will be sugarcoated, expect answers to be accurate.

The Tutorial

(Optional) Meditate for five minutes, or until you feel at peace. I believe the relaxation in your mind and body assists in having a clearer connection to the universe.

Begin to send a message out to the universe. If you’re trying to contact a person, try something along the lines of “[Name], how are you feeling?”; you can ask whatever question you’d like - you don’t even have to contact someone. You could ask the universe a question instead if you desire, though I don’t suggest asking when you’ll shift as the answer could be demotivating.

(Optional) Intend how you’ll get your answer. To do this, simply affirm something like “after three shuffles, the fourth will be my answer.”

With your intention still fresh in your mind, go to your playlist of choice and shuffle your desired amount of times. Your answer will be there.

Tips

Listen to the song in full to derive meaning from it. Does this song relate to your question? Does it hold a special meaning for you? A special meaning to who you’re connecting with?

Using a playlist of your own will make the answers more meaningful and personal - but isn’t required.

All About My First Shift

Well, here it is! The information included here will be my first telling of what happened when I shifted, including the method used. This post is from my Amino, and it got pretty popular, so don’t be too shocked in case you’ve seen it before. This was originally posted January 6th, 2021. ────── I know you guys hate long intros so I'm going to keep this very short. I have never seen My Hero Academia. I have seen TikToks, random clips of the anime, edits, and know some spoilers. However, I have never even started an episode of the anime. I already know what you're thinking... How did I shift to MHA? Maybe it's because you guys literally dominate my fyp. Anyways, I didn't exactly plan to shift there as you've probably guessed by the intro. I think my "issue" during this particular shifting attempt was that I didn't specify where I wanted to shift... But I'm so glad I didn't since this new reality is literally a blessing. Because it was like 9pm-10pm and my family was taking their sweet time with getting ready to shoot fireworks, I didn't have much else to do besides shift. On the contrary, I couldn't exactly do my usual methods (intention/raven) because the first is too time consuming, and the other would be too awkward because I was fully dressed. So, I decided to try something new. I sat on my bed, closed my eyes, and meditated. Despite the fireworks outside and the music blasting in the house, I got myself into a state of utter relaxation. Then, I stated that I had shifted. At first, like all of my former smaller shifts, I noticed no changes. But as I got more aware, I realized that I heard nothing I did previously. No music. No fireworks. It had all faded out, on top of that I was standing! How the hell did I end up standing when I was just sitting down? I opened my eyes and I was in an unfamiliar area. Based on the knowledge my alternative self combined with my own, I quickly noted that I was in a common room... But for what? Going upstairs and hearing two people talking, I stopped as I recognized the voices. No way were those Denki and Kirishima, I never thought an accidental shift would take me somewhere that was actually good! I followed the voices and as I expected, they were there and they looked genuinely excited to see me. The two greeted me, we cracked some jokes, talked about events that had happened before I even shifted, and then I was off to my dorm room. But they followed me there. In Bakugou kinnie fashion, I turned around and asked what the extras wanted - and they understandably laughed, telling me I sounded just like him. But because all I do is cause chaos, I acted like I had no clue who Bakugou was. This made them laugh even more, especially when we got to my dorm and I realized the hothead was my roommate... Of course, his ass got mad. It started an playful argument (at least playful on my end), which is apparently fairly common between us based on what Thing 1 and Thing 2 said. Thing 1 and Thing 2 are Denki and Kirishima, in case you didn't catch onto that. Apparently it was nighttime, so after this encounter, I took a shower and got dressed while Bakugo played R&B, which was surprisingly fitting for him. He got into his bed, and I got in right behind him, just to fuck with him. "...What do you want?" "Are we not gonna cuddle tonight?" "You damn psychopath." Even with his attitude, we actually did end up cuddling and he stroked my hair. He kissed me on my forehead and we decided to go to bed after that. The next morning, I was feeling more in place, more like I belonged there. I had heard in other shifting stories that when you first shifted, it’d take some adjusting.  Hawks and I went out to get breakfast, as he’s the guy I’m planning to intern with. We discussed how I was doing at UA, getting along with students, blah blah blah. And Endeavor shows up. Now this might seem insignificant to you, the viewer, but if you know me personally... You know how I feel about Mr. Todoroki. I went feral. Absolutely wild. I asked him if Shoto needed a stepdad, it was bad. Hawks laughed at me. After a good breakfast, I left the little diner and made my way to UA since I didn't want to be late on my "first" day... And then I get a phone call from a private number. Obviously, I picked it up. Did you know that villains like to prank call? Shiggy and Dabi are not good at prank calling. I don't even think they tried. But anyways, I got an invite to their hideout (by invite I mean Shigaraki going pleeeeeeeease come over I miss you) and of course I said yes. Now you might be wondering, Dom, why are you friends with villains when you literally go to UA? Are you the traitor? Of course not I just casually hang out with villains /s. As I was on my way there, he just appeared in front of me. Not materialized out of thin air, but he did surprise me - and before I get clowned for thinking he's cute, the Shigaraki in this reality wasn't as crusty-looking as Horikoshi made him look (yes it’s a skin condition from his quirk, but jesus some of those panels are horrifying and literally not human). He actually looked very cute and had some eye bags and lips. He had lips guys!! In conclusion, MHA is so much fun, this isn't even half of what happened. I'm so glad that I could bring in the New Year at UA. I've been shifting there basically every night because it's soooo much fun. I literally shifted out of 2020 and into 2021<33

Explanation On Respawning

Warning: There are going to be mentions of suicide, do not read further if this triggers/offends you. This post is going to be a mix of me expressing my own opinion on respawning mixed with facts, but I’ll make it very clear what is opinion and what isn’t.

What is respawning?

Respawning is the act of cutting ties with your current reality to permanently stay in your desired reality, while this may sound great to some people, it's a much larger decision than you think. Respawning has a horrible reputation in the shifting community, and for good reason. many of the most popular respawners have made it into what is essentially suicide, and while respawning isn't suicide, let me explain how they've turned it into that.

The Goodbye Posts

Often, when a respawner is about to respawn, they make a post saying goodbye; however, it has a much darker tone than that of a shifter making these posts. It often has mentions of wanting to "escape", and I'll be the first to say that using respawning as a form of escapism isn't okay. Once again, it's a major decision, also, respawning is supposed to be associated with new life and starting fresh - not your hatred for your current life, no matter how bad it is.

The Typical Respawners

This doesn't count for all respawners, as I have a close friend who's a respawner and I support her, but this is aimed at the popular ones that dominate the community (if the shoe fits). They're always young, have issues in their life, and want to get away. If they didn't know about respawning, what do you think they would be considering instead? Suicide. I've also seen respawners talking about offing themselves if they don't respawn soon, which furthers my point that they only view respawning as a way out instead of what it was intended to be.

The Clone Deaths

This portion is no longer directed at just the populars now, it goes for the majority of respawning scripts that I've seen from my time in Amino, and what has been preached by informational respawn posts. Planning out death for your clone isn't uncommon, and neither is listening to things like death subs in hope to die and respawn... This isn't normal, nor is it meant to be part of respawning. You're just killing yourself in hopes to go to your desired reality when there isn't a need to do that.

So, what should the view on respawning be?

With the points above showing my and many others’ discomfort on the subject, here's the verdict; If you've shifted long-term to the desired reality you want to respawn to, aren't killing off your clone, view respawning as a positive experience instead of an escape, and are an adult in the right headspace to make the decision to respawn then you should be accepted.

How can respawning be done without killing your clone?

Respawning and shifting are actually very similar method-wise. Instead on affirming that you’re shifting, you’d be affirming that you’re respawning. That’s it.Oh, and permanently shifting is just respawning - as the definition at the start of the post explains, staying in your desired reality permanently is when you respawn.

This is going to be a long read, so buckle up or skip to the parts you care about. I wanted to make this into a page, but then I decided that a simple post would be better (and easier, considering I have no clue how pages work). You might notice that this is formatted similarly to the My Hero Academia wikipedia - and that’s because the template I made is based off of that... Family ↳Karine Brodeur: My mother whom I love dearly. I admire her for raising me on her own and also appreciate the allowance she provides me with while in Japan. She's the one that helped me the most with operating my quirk and got me into fashion We have a healthy relationship as she's an extremely accepting woman, but I feel a pang of guilt for not telling her about my work with All For One. She wouldn't understand anyway, right? That's what I tell myself in a poor attempt to ease that horrible feeling in my gut. ↳All For One: Surprisingly a good father. I have a knack for knowing when I'm being manipulated or used, and that warning sensor doesn't go off around him. You can't manipulate the manipulator, and while our relationship is mostly professional, we get along well. You could even say we're identical in some forms. ↳Tomura Shigaraki: The brother I had only heard of from my father until I arrived in Japan. Because of Shigaraki's immaturity, we get along when it comes to personal interests. However, also because of Shigaraki's immaturity, I want to strangle him when he says something that's unbelievably stupid. Class 1-A ↳Tenya Iida: Despite going to the same academy, we're nearly polar opposites. I take his whole "taking everything seriously" thing and use it to tease him. His discipline never does anything to waver me, and after years of dealing with each other, he's beginning to accept that it never will. Though, some of the things that come out of the my mouth somehow manages to put Tenya into momentary shock each and every time. ↳Katsuki Bakugo: We're are a deadly combination, often found supporting each other's problematic behavior towards others. Though, we do support each other's goals along with passions for fighting and... Studying, oddly enough. ↳Izuku Midoriya: I simply find him annoying, even moreso that he has a quirk. We have a lot in common (ie. idolizing All Might, keeping track of hero's abilities, a slight muttering habit, etc.) but we'd never be able to get along.

Pro Heroes

↳Hawks: The person I'm interning with. We met while I was practicing with my quirk, before I took the entrance exam for UA. The winged hero took notice, and we've been in contact ever since. You could say I already knew who I was going to be interning under before I even went to the school.

Hero Information

Hero Name: The Taker Equipment ↳Aviators: These aren't your regular sunglasses, designed by me (and approved by UA of course), they're more useful than looking flashy and making it obvious you want to work with a certain winged hero. It's a device with a few key functions: facial recognition, recording, a communication device, and the features your typical camera would have (ie. zooming in, adjusting brightness, etc,.). What is the facial recognition for? Well, within the sunglasses, there's a system on names, faces, and quirk information. All information in the system was learned on my own and logged manually, similar to how Izuku keeps track of things in his notebooks. I went through hell to get them officially added to my hero costume, and they come with a stupid amount of paperwork. ↳Black Armor: Because of my slightly skimpy costume, there's cyborg-like armor added to my arms and legs for extra protection. ↳Wind-Cutting Scythe: While I legally can't allowed to use this on anyone in battle, it's showy and can be used in other ways. Thankfully, with my demonstration of use other than cutting and stabbing, I'm allowed to use it very sparingly. Mechanic-wise, it has a sort of boomerang effect - meaning it can be thrown and delivered right back to the user. ↳Cutting Magnet: On my palms, used to guide the scythe back to either of my hands. Quirk

Identity Theft: This ability allows the user to shapeshift into another's form, along with borrowing their quirk. The user doesn't gain any knowledge or information from their target, but the personality and quirk "level" is copied. A borrowed quirk can be used better than the original holder, as when it's in use it's at maximum mastery - and has no drawbacks. For example, when using Shoto Todoroki's quirk, I'm able to simultaneously use fire and ice while he can't. When shifting, the user's body flashes a light that covers them entirely, so the shift itself cannot be witnessed. I'm able to shift what I'm wearing as well: either to make new clothes or to have my current outfit fit my new body. Quirk Type: Transformation Quirk Inherits: As my father intended, I received a mix of my parents' quirks. My mother holding a shapeshifting quirk and my father having All For One made a fusion of the two that allowed me to borrow forms and quirks together.

Backstory

To get the full story, we'd have to start at the very beginning, before I was even born. My father, All For One, desired a child with a specific quirk. To achieve that, he had to get with my mother and form what is now called a quirk marriage. He had the woman wrapped around his finger, manipulated her into thinking they were in love. It was the pregnancy that woke her up from this trance. She found out too much, cursing herself for not noticing his acts of villainy earlier, for not seeing behind his disguise. In April, seven months before I was due, she fled to Luxembourg. The delayed marriage is what made her escape so simple. By the time she gave birth, she felt secure in life. Karine had a good job, a gorgeous home, and she was sure she would never see that man again now that she was 8,000 miles away. In a sense, she was right. She wouldn't see him again, I was a different story. As I grew up, I didn't resemble All For One in appearance - only in actions and mindset, identical in toxicity. Cold-hearted, self-absorbed, manipulative, untrusting, aggressive… Yet I didn't make these undesirable traits as obvious as he did. Oh no, I did a much better job at staying secretive. Occasionally, I'd open up, but the information I revealed was never enough to show any true intentions. I spent my childhood learning many things; new languages, things about my quirk, and that my mother really hated my father. Why? I would always wonder. Why, when I feel as if we'd get along perfectly? I didn't have any issues growing up, just questions that gnawed at me nonstop. We moved back to Japan to reconnect with family, my mother was anxious for the trip - and not in a good way. We'd ended up staying for the summer, and then junior high was starting. She was convinced by my uncle to let me stay, as I was making friends already. My mother caved and left me to be cared for by him, but that decision would change fate as we know it. All For One got into contact with me as soon as she was on the plane back to Luxembourg. There's nothing you would need to know about our conversations, but I was essentially caught up on what had been happening in his life business-wise and what his plans were moving forward as a villain. I learned that I was an important pawn in that, with my quirk being exactly what he desired from the quirk marriage and all of my other strengths. I had no weaknesses as far as he could tell, so I was more than worthy to join in on the operation. I went to Aldera Junior High, disappointed to see that everyone was already in their cliques. Remember those friends I mentioned earlier? One of them was Katsuki Bakugo, the coolest kid in our grade. I clung to him and his friends during my time there, not that I was necessarily shy, I just thought it was much too late to get involved with anyone else. Besides, he was always getting jealous when I mentioned getting along with others - explosive ass temper. After completing two years there, I got an invitation to attend Somei Private Academy, meant for those stuck-up rich kids but somehow I was getting a scholarship to go. Bakugo wasn't happy about it, but made the excuse that he wanted to be the only one to go to UA at Aldera anyway. He knew I would get in no problem, great, as long as he was aware. It was four months before UA's entrance exams, and I was practicing hard. I considered myself a professional with my quirk at this point, and I was more than in shape for what I thought the school would put me through. I had always worked out where I could have eyes on me, it was a strategy I had never told Katsuki about. Show off in public and maybe a hero will see you, that's how people got into the recommendation exams if they didn’t already have connections.It was a genius idea on my end because it finally worked. Goddamn Hawks had seen me training and offered me to work for his hero company! He thought I was already at UA, but I laughed it off and explained to him that I was actually trying to get into the school. I won't forget the shocked expression on his face! He was the one that recommended I get into the exams, and I passed. I was technically a UA student before I finished my third year in junior high, Iida was excited for me. What a nerd, if I were him I'd be jealous out of my mind.After I passed the exams, I was approached by a sickly-looking... Man? He looked like a teenager, just bigger. He had a hoodie on and began talking to me like we knew one another. Tomura Shigaraki, sent by All For One. I remember all I heard of him. Dad says he was an apprentice, but I saw him as a desperate, destructive child who happened to get the break of a lifetime. The summer before my term at UA, we bonded as a supposed "brotherly team" should do, and I made the final choice to be their infiltrator. Anything for dad and his cause, right?──────Now, you might be thinking you just read the most thought out desired reality self ever (/s) - but the reality is I just typed what I remembered. I shifted before I got the chance to make a script, hell, before I even got to watch the anime!Hope you enjoyed or got some inspiration from this, a post on my very first shift is coming next - ask me things about my dr(s) if you want!

Symptoms are defined as anything unusual - while I had no symptoms during my first big shift, others have - including some listed here.

A good rule of thumb for figuring out if something is a symptom or a health problem is taking your own health into account. For example, the dizziness symptom could be shifting related, but it could also be caused by a lack of water which many people today struggle with.

You aren't having serious eye or heart problems because someone on Tumblr said so - but if the shoe fits see a doctor.

If you are experiencing hallucinations, dizziness, seeing white flashes, and heart rate increasing.

THAT ISN'T A SYMPTOM OF SHIFTING!!!

I am so concerned for some of you. Hallucinations are not normal! Seeing, feeling, hearing things that aren't there isn't normal and isn't a good thing. This is coming from someone who suffers from psychosis!

Hallucinations can be a symptom of tiredness, psychosis, and psychotic disorders, along with just having hallucinations. Please see a doctor!

Dizziness is not normal and not healthy! It is a symptom of so many heart problems (especially if you have the next two symptoms). P l e a s e see a doctor

Seeing white flashes is not normal and 10000% not healthy!!!!!! It is a symptom of many heart problems and eye problems! Please

Heart Rate increasing is normal sometimes. If you're lying down, in a cool room, and not panicking? That is concerning!!!

Please for the love of god stop trying to say that these are normal symptoms and that it's a good thing when they could be symptoms of something much worse and are not good things!!
