a river trembles with fear. She looks back at the path she has traveled,
from the peaks of the mountains,

I’m a very quiet person, but that wasn’t always true. As a young child I was extremely outgoing, extremely active, extremely motivated. Illness and trauma have transformed me into something else entirely. I’m still a fighter. At the soul level I’m still me…it’s one thing about me that I’m grateful for. The pain has never hardened me, it has only molded the edges and shaped my movements. It’s changed me so completely, but not at all at the same time. I’ve become more and more of an introvert, living in my own world because the outside assaults the pieces of me I’ve fought so hard to hold onto and because I’ve really had no choice other than to live differently. It’s not easy for me to share pieces of me with the world, it’s probably the most difficult project I have ever taken on. I’ve succeeded at doing so many things I should have not been able to do. I’m not sure if it’s just plain stubbornness or courage. Maybe they are the same. There is no courage without fear. All I know is that I put all of me into everything I do and while it is often painful, I don’t regret it. I only wish…that sometimes I could do more than just #keepgoing, but even that is enough. Slipping down into decaying fathoms of the mind, liquid caressing clouded depths of memories, vision blind. Submersed in slips of bleeding ink, seeping betwixt iron trees, moonlight waltzing hollows of shadows in wavering siege. Transient psychosis breaks, singed twigs, under heavy weight. Reaching arms warp an iron cage of contorted universal fate. Swirling currents of fading light, catch silt-choked silent screams, mirrored in glassine ice, threading betwixt decaying seams. Feeble fingers helplessly claw through silt into the scattering of daybreak. Serpentine hair, algae eyes voided… yet lifelessly awake. Weakened branches scarcely graze, vacillating in serous wind… tap tapping, bare calcium on glass coaxing shielded crystal to abscind. The edges were rough, worthy of dangerously sharp, unclean, cuts that could cleave tender skin like fragile pieces of golden parchment. In time they smoothed with the rolling tides, scraped along molecules of rock and salt, polished, to perfection.
