Dubstep Manhattan
"Dubstep Manhattan" #mixed #inspirations #manhattancocktail
Blending artistic output as a product of our “remix generation”. There is something so exciting about sharing inspiration. Breaking barriers on “collaborations” and re-defining artistic output. I bring you this series of “Music & Drinks”, where I take the song/genre/artist and create a classic cocktail video. Blending the two mediums. Playing visual and taste DJ, while the music does the heavy…

Famille NAUD and the changing face of Cognac
Famille NAUD and the changing face of Cognac
Cognac is changing. For many, Cognac (the spirit) still looks like an old grizzled man in a smoking jacket in front of a fireplace. A brandy balloon glass swirling in the left hand. A Cigar sandwiched between the index and middle finger of the right. It is a stale image, and one that Cognac (the spirit) has been battling to change.
While spending time in and around Cognac (the village) in late…

Entrepreneurship after loss.
“You should be a vessel of life, so kill your idols.” ~ Carl Jung to his Ego, Liber Novus, Page 334 ~
It was my father who first showed me this quote. So it is fitting that it be the first business writing I put out from my person since his passing.
I’ll be honest in saying that I did not know what it meant when he first gave it to me. You see, he was not only my Dad, to me, he was my…

BBC | The artist cutting off the head of a British colonialist. [Raffles]
BBC | The artist cutting off the head of a British colonialist #Raffles #hospitalitybusiness #hotelnews #luxuryhotels
A thought-provoking snippet from BBC today send me into a wormhole of history that I believe is worth sharing.
Do we need to address the colonial past of the hospitality industry’s landmarks? Do we judge our “fore-fathers” by modern terms? Should these brands consider a re-brand?
[Complex] barely scratches the surface of this history.

Quick story: Chic Choc Rum
Quick story: Chic Choc Rum and the Nordic botanical that inspired it
Chic Choc comes from the Mi’kmaq word sigsôg, meaning either ‘crags’ or ‘rocky mountains’. The spelling has changed numerous times as languages have evolved. It’s the name of a thin 95 km Quebec mountain range that has 25 summits, between 3000-4160 feet. These are the northern mounts of the Appalachian Range and are home to Eastern Canada’s ski culture – evidently used to conjure a certain vibe…

Canadian Cocktails; The Montreal vs The Toronto vs The Vancouver
Canadian Cocktails; The Montreal vs The Toronto vs The Vancouver
In the vast landscape of classic cocktails, many American favorites have elevated to infamy. Consider the Manhattan or Martini for a moment. So what are the quintessential Canadian Cocktails?   The Canadian identity is multi-cultural. When I find myself discussing Canada to my friends overseas, I find it easiest to explain that each province is like its own country, in size, diversity and…

[HJU:Z = Hughes]
Over the past 8 months, I have had the honor and pleasure of working with some of the best in the business of project development, service, and hospitality. From my employer, Concord Pacific and the incredible team I work with at LIV Interiors, to The Westin Bayshore and Marriott Hotels teams, and all the many people who have helped spawn this project. HJU:Z Lounge & Restaurant.
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
HJU:Z, phonetic spelling of Hughes, a concept designed for the iconic Howard Hughes and his infamous life as a business person, philanthropist, aviation innovator, Hollywood movie producer and eccentric tycoon.
A concept, where “Rules Don’t Apply“, as Howard would have said. (www.hjuzlounge.com)
Now we start the challenging and exciting final push with recruitment. It starts with a Sous Chef, who can take the lead on this concept inside the Westin Bayshore. Working with a strong executive chef team and take the lead as the “HJU:Z CHEF”.
The restaurant and lounge space are 155 seats with a strong focus on the modern Vancouver clientele, and although it has a concept, the food menu planning with be left entirely in the new chef’s hands. What is on offer? A top salary, benefits, real work-life balance, a team of passionate people around you and the incredible benefits that the Marriott International system gives you. (Travel, Global Opportunities, etc..)
Know someone who is interested? Forward the link below to get the process rolling. Also, shoot me a message on any social channels or [email protected] if you have any questions or want more details from me directly.
