the whole 'nobody would miss me if i were gone' line of reasoning is so completely and mindblowingly false, it's almost laughable if you take a couple steps back. there's a lady at work who has been there for maybe two or three weeks and has only talked to me a handful of times, ask where the necklace i usually wear went. another person asked where i was cause i wasn't scheduled for about a week. i regularly think of friends who have deactivated their accounts or who i've lost contact with and what id tell them. i still think about people i haven't talked to for years even though i didn't know them well. people still think about you even if you're a passing specter on the street. and that's not even holding a candle to how much the people who are personally involved in your life care. people do notice and care. all the time. it might be hard to see it or remember it but people do care. ily.

ascendant midas was the last good midas and i’m tired of pretending he wasn’t

yeah okay so i lasted exactly this long without yelling about this into the void.

im so so so tired of whatever epic games is doing to midas rn. as much as i loved outlaw when he was initially leaked, im just starting to hate him more and more with each passing day. they just don’t get him and it frustrates me to no end. the only reason i want another midas reskin this soon is so he can take off that stupid ass fit and go back to how he was. he was perfect, ascendant was a perfect addition. he was regal, intimidating, commanding of respect, just like the original midas. the only thing outlaw shares with him is the name and the golden touch. and now you might be like “magpie, can’t the same also be said about golden gear?” and my answer is “YES!!!”

golden gear was how you do a midas that deviates from the original, while still being believable!! he has no story, he is basically a blank slate. you can come up with your own ideas for him and i think that partially solves the problem. most people i’ve seen headcanon that golden gear was midas in his youth, all rebellious and shit and imo that fixes the issue of him “not being enough like og midas”. just make him a different midas / midas in a different part of his life, it’s so easy.

outlaw just can’t have this grace, his story is clearly told and it’s quite frankly stupid and downright ridiculous. you CANNOT tell me that he IS ascendant midas. you CANNOT tell me that after everything ascendant midas went through; dying, losing his crew and family, losing his power, losing everything, then being brought back to life and deciding to make amends and be a better person (specifically being more involved in jules’s life again) he would decide to go back to being a lowly criminal, seemingly abandoning his crew (he claims he didn’t in the new update’s dialogue but i’m 99% sure that was their fumbling reply to the fan backlash), AND THEN deciding to distance himself from jules again and not even reply to her letters?? what is going on???

and no i don’t really care about the cope replies like “maybe he’s not actually ascendant midas, even tho hope’s and marigold’s dialogue so clearly hints to that because *bla bla*”. im not coping bro! im seething!! if i just pretend he isn’t ascendant midas to save my sanity it won’t solve the issue with the writing.

i genuinely don’t think the people writing him understand a single thing about him and the character development that was started for him in chapter 5, they just threw it out of the window to put him in the new story with completely changed views and looks and put him in a dumbass outfit for what? more money? i might be alone in this but i would be far more forgiving about them milking midas to death if they actually kept him consistent and didn’t constantly character assassinate him. that is all. thanks
