Today I'm 30... And I wrote this song...
Hometown Today I felt the weight of your words, and missed you more than you know, I'll never grow out of this Long ago I left like you did, knowing I might never again live in this place we called home And every year my dreams always grow, I find myself wanting more, and I'm not sure it will stop One day I'll share the truth with the world and try to say in my words why you're always in my thoughts Am I wrong to try to live by myself? Thanks to the rules you have set, I've learnt to brush off the lies I'm 30 now and still don't know why the world keeps finding new ways, to push me off my own cloud I'll keep my eyes on the flame, if it goes dark we'll be fine, I know this place like the back of my hand And in this castle we hide, the safest place is this bed, under the covers we're safe I think I've earned the right to sit down, alone with dark thoughts of mine, the kind I won't share at all I just try so hard to live up to all the promises made, but today I won't do that... Listening to you will reveal exactly how I feel, and that I need you more than you know I'm 30 now and still don't know why the world keeps breaking our hearts, to then heal us one more time But I know one thing for sure, I'll never stop calling here my hometown I know one thing for sure, I'll never stop calling you my loved ones

I like to think I’m a Rizzo, but I’m probably a Ginsberg.

Childhood Heroes
I just wanted to write some sort of a tribute to Chi Cheng of the Deftones.
I first listened to Deftones when I was 15 years old, I bought their CD 'Around the Fur' hours before going on holiday in late october 1997. I remember sitting on a train on my own, and getting that feeling I've known to love so many times since... Discovering a new band, new music, a new world... I saw them for the first time in february 98, on a monday night... That day I met my heroes, shook their hands, spoke the few words of english I knew at the time, and got them to sign my CD and ticket.
I remember the whole day clearly, I remember the gig, most of the setlist...
I saw them again pretty much 15 years to the day, in february of this year... I find comfort in the fact that I still love them, and that they're still around singing the songs I grew up with...
Last sunday, I read about the death of their bass player: Chi Cheng
And just like I did when I heard of Layne Staley or Dimebad Darrell's deaths, I felt overwhelmed and extremely emotional.
It's sad cause as a child, I felt these guys were not human, they were my heroes, they were above it all...
But the music remains, and the memories... All those gig tickets I recently found in a box, reminded me of each moment I met one of them, got him to sign my ticket, just like Chi did on my copy of Adrenaline.
They will never be forgotten, and we'll never stop listening to them...

Beautiful, poetic and nostalgic, a fantastic exhibition of Igor Konak’s paintings at The Muse Gallery in Notting Hill, until 24th April.

Lyrics Inspired by the never ending UK winter...
It's not our turn for the sun to warm our hearts
While we wait in the dark, we'd better stay inside
It's not sane to spend our time with our heads upside down
waiting for the earth to turn and shed us some light
It's not sane to live with our heads upside down
We're waiting for our luck to turn to finally shine

A Little Poem Written in France...
HOMETOWN
I was 22, Found myself floating off the ground On a late summer day, I untied the knot between our hands Picked a map at random and swapped a town for a city, a sea for an ocean, a girl for a woman...
She came along for the ride...
Out in the world I met my wife, knowing one day I'd come back, with her around my arm
With eyes full of dreams and tears of joy, I would discover the beauty of lost times.
And i'd miss the simple things in what i learnt to call my hometown...

Seattle remains the capital of good music
I was a teenager in the 90's, I grew my hair long, had holes in my jeans, wore Doc Martens, and listened to whatever Seattle could throw at me.
Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Mad Seasons to name a few. And it seems like there is something in the north west of America that inspires people to write what I consider to be great music.
Recently, Death Cab for cutie, The Head and the Heart, Rogue Wave, Band of Horses to name the more popular ones.
And now these guys... Hey Marseilles...
This is poetry, indie music with a touch of classical music, and an evident french vibe in a very unexpected way.
Thank you Seattle for still providing me with my daily share of shivers and tears of joy that only music can give.

I discovered Peter Broderick thanks to this amazing website he made for his last album. The album is also called itstartshere.com
You can listen to the whole album on here, read the lyrics and explanations about each song. Peter has added Pictures and videos with some of them and lets us enter his head during the writing process.
I find it poetic and inspiring.
Peter is super sweet, you can leave messages, he always replies.

Me in the next Pilots at Sea music video... Hopefully it will be finished later this year... My dear friend Victor Haegelin is working on it when he has time. It will be all stopframe animation, so it's obviously a long job... It will be worth it!
